Bikini wax on period am I mad ?!

Going away the weekend, high bikini wax booked in for tomorrow morning and of course, I came on yesterday. Is it going to be torture ?! I mean it’s always painful anyway, but is it ridiculously painful?
So annoying as I don’t use tampons either and now I need to go and buy some just for this !
Aibu? Should I just leave it ?!

Just leave it shave instead. It is also not fair on the therapist.

I thought this it’s pretty grim !!
shaving is a nightmare for me though, I get irritation really bad I must be extra sensitive down there, it just looks unsightly

Maybe use Veet hair remover?

I don’t like the results, and never seems to come off properly. I wear quite high cut bikini bottoms to cover my mum tum so it’s more the sides I want gone

I've never had good results from hair remover either but others have.
What about waxing? I have used wax strips before but they weren't great but the melted wax worked better.
Maybe not the whole area but just the bits hair would peep out.
The only other suggestion for the poping out bits of hair is an epilitor.

I'm a qualified Beauty Therapist, no we don't want to do bikini waxes, in general, on women on their period. Depending what type of wax it is you could drop a message and ask. If it's a Hollywood or Brazilian, I wouldn't have done it. Just a bikini and a good, regular customer, possibly.

It’ll be fine. Definitely better than trying to shave if your bikini line reacts like mine does.

Take a couple of ibuprofen 30 mins before. It will be more painful but if it’s only bikini line it’ll be over quickly.

As along as you’ve showered before and have a tampon in no reason not to go. You aren’t having a Brazilian!

I don't think the therapist will be bothered as long as you are wearing a tampon. I guess there's more blood flow to the pelvis/ vulval area during periods so it may be a bit more painful.

But don't forgo it due to embarrassment as the therapist won't mind as long as you're clean and have a tampon in.

I had one recently on period and it was fine. I had a tampon in obviously and it was just a high leg bikini wax not a Brazilian or Hollywood, but no issues other than it was definitely.a bit more ouchy!

Not a regular, never been this place before and I generally only get a wax when I’m going on holiday !
I might call them in the morning and see what they say.

And it didn’t really occur to me to mention the period thing. My pants stayed on and it was just the sides, plus I was clean and freshly showered.

Yes this is all I want, just the edges removing. The last time I had a Hollywood I was suprised she used strips and basically ripped my skin off, put me off for life 🤣

My period arrived when I had a wax booked pre holiday. I'd been going to my the same beauty therapist for years so just text and asked her and she was fine with a tampon being in.

My beauty therapist is more than happy to wax customers on periods including Hollywood's and Brazilians. Just move the tampon string out of the way around the wax. I find it hurts less on my period for some reason.

Why wouldn't you do a high bikini wax?

What happens if the wax sticks to the string and gets pulled out? Would the therapist have to move it out of the way?

Would you be wearing high wasted bikini bottoms while on your period if you don't use tampons?

Like others have said I would put a tampon in and have a shower just before you go so you can be as clean as possible x

Well she is getting it a good few days before going away if she’s going away next weekend and getting it done tomorrow.

I got my last one on a Weds for going on holiday at the weekend. My period was completely finished by the time I got to the pool. My period is done after 5 days.

If it’s just a high bikini wax she won’t need to be moving or touching the string anyway, you keep your pants on and they don’t go near the vagina.

Would a moon cup be better than a tampon maybe, so there's no string on the outside?

I’m a beauty therapist and would be fine doing just a bikini line wax for someone on their period.

Do you routinely ask women? I used a Moon Cup so a therapist wouldn't know, and I don't think it would occur to me to tell the therapist.

nb I am post menopausal now, so not an issue and I've never had a wax.

My waxers don’t mind. Use either a moon cup or a tampon.

I never find it any more painful on my period. I actually think my period distracts me from the nip of the wax.

If you’re not comfortable though, OP that’s perfectly fine. Just use one of the other methods suggested.
