In shops and cafes, barking and making people jump, tripping over them in the street... Seems everyone and their Auntie Flo has a dog nowadays.

@Muffsies Going by all your comments, you’d make anyone despair! However the comment you’re referring to, in real terms, was you just want all dogs to disappear, not despair! You’ve misread what was said🙄

LemonCheesecake2025 · 31/08/2025 21:01

I'm sat here with my two beauties living their best lives. I don't need to comment anymore. They are happy and are cuddly.

Enjoy your lovely dogs everybody and I'll leave the fuming dog haters to be fuming.

Justchilling07 · 31/08/2025 21:05

@LemonCheesecake2025 Exactly.
I’m going to do the same.

The dogs are happy though ☺️.

My dogs are loving life.

According to the RSPCA, the dogs are NOT happy.

Ah it was a misspelling! OK, where did I say, or imply, that I want dogs to disappear then? And why are you getting so personally offended by what I've said?

I think you're getting me mixed up with hulk, who is making a game of winding you up. Hulk! You owe this lady a sherry and a dog biscuit.

I can't even read that link and yes my dogs are happy.

Are you OK? Is your mental health OK?

What “link” - it’s a screenshot

I'm surprised that you're not aware of this, as a "dog lover". Pure breeds and pedigrees are not thought of as healthy or ethical by the RSPCA.

*THIS DOES NOT MEAN I THINK THAT YOU ARE A BAD PERSON OR THAT ALL DOGS SHOULD DISAPPEAR.

There's much evidence that the welfare and quality of life of many pedigree and purebred dogs are seriously compromised as a result of selective breeding.

My greyhound is a purebreed. As a breed, greyhounds are very healthy.

Any decent breeder of any dog will make sure their dogs are healthy.

You need to get a life.

Why are you so hurt??

HangryLikeTheHulk · 31/08/2025 22:38

Baffling to think I might be thought of as weird for sharing the RSPCA’s concern about inbred dogs suffering health issues. And that you think that I’m “not right in the head” for it ?

Only dogs with health issues suffer from health issues.
You are saying that all pure breeds/pedigrees are "man made" freaks of nature (in fact you have said that about all dogs) that are suffering. That is simply not true.

No one can take you seriously when you keep making outlandish claims.

Ok, you hate dogs. We get it. Now spend your energy on something that matters and leave the rest of us to enjoy our healthy dogs.

Exactly. Any reputable breeder gets the relevant genetic testing done prior to breeding and any conscious potential owner checks the reports. Doesn’t mean there won’t be any illness - all animals including us humans can suffer with those.

No one’s buying this sudden ‘concern’ for dog welfare. Next time, try posting the article before the iStock pics, the bum-and-anal-gland obsession, the threats to walk into dogs, and the wish list for their extinction.

Also, didn’t realise the RSPCA had the time or resources to research and interview every dog—mine certainly didn’t get a census. Judging by their negative reviews, I doubt many would even call them in a real dog welfare emergency, let alone trust that everything they say is gospel.

Yup, I think the RSPCA commenting on the suffering of dogs is more about the brachycephalic breeds such as pugs. I am pretty sure there have been vets that have spoken out about them too.

I know a couple who bought a male pug from a friend who had a backyard litter. A year later, the breeder friend dog sat the pug for a weekend. They sat and let him mate with his own sister, then flogged those puppies too. Said the parents were healthy. That male pug has had to have surgery so he can breath, and he still passes out when he gets excited. My friends bought one of the puppies sired by their own pug. She was the runt, and is half the size of a normal pug, and her spine is twisted up into her neck, making her look hunchbacked.

LemonCheesecake2025 · 02/09/2025 08:39

My two always look like they are living their best life.

Frequency · 02/09/2025 09:06

I'm not a vet, so I might be wrong, but I don't think being allowed in cafes and shops is what is causing the brachycephalic breeds to have health issues.

Their tails are always wagging.

I'll admit it, they can't tell me they are unhappy.

I think I've done arguing about this. I'm not using this username anymore. So you never know, we might be agreeing about other things on other threads.

Free rent, free food, endless naps, constant love, belly rubs, plenty of cafés/shops that welcome them, attention from strangers every time they step outside, plus zoomies and tail wags on repeat… hate life? Please. Dogs are living better than most of us! 😂

Dog owners know their dogs. We know when they are happy and we know when they are sad. We also know our dogs and how they display other emotions too.
