In shops and cafes, barking and making people jump, tripping over them in the street... Seems everyone and their Auntie Flo has a dog nowadays.

That's the case with so many breeds tho, there are loads of breeds that are very dumb, and some that are completely neurotic. It's disturbing that weve bread them to be like that, just for out amusement and entertainment. And then there's all the hereditary conditions we've cultivated in them.. if you love animals surely it's sick?

”bread” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Haha, yes that post if full of typos bc I was using my phone without my glasses on.

I stand by the sentiment tho. Why would any so called "animal lover" want to own one of these frankenstien animals? Some are mentally retarded or have serious neurotic tendencies. Some have chronic breathing problems, heart problems, back problems, hip problems.. the list goes on. Can you imagine being created to suffer conditions like this just bc someone thinks you look cute or quirky, or so you fit in a handbag, or so that you look scary? It is utterly sick.

I'm sorry but I think that the whole dog industry is unethical and cruel, I don't know why people continue to buy into into it, how do you live with yourselves if you have a sick dog that was bred to be that way?

Of course, some of you clearly think it's funny.

I only get rescue dogs, I’ve had 4 now and try hard to undo the damage done to them by humans.

Still, none of your reasons are an excuse to hate the animals. It’s just further evident humans can be disgusting.

I don't hate animals, that's my entire point.

I hate irresponsible dog owners. The problem is the worst offenders will bang on about how much they love animals, whilst treating them like toys and entertainment.

When you're out in a hotel and a barking competition is going on then no it's not.

I have a 12 year old beagle who has had no health conditions. She is the happiest little dog. She's had a good life.

YeOldeGreyhound · 30/08/2025 21:25

Again, that does not mean we can't trust dogs. Maybe that pug was already starving when the owner died. The rescue my own dog came from has rehomed a pair of greyhounds that had also started eating their owner after they died at home. That does not make them dangerous or not to be trusted when you are still up and about.

Why are you holding dogs to human standards? They are animals, not humans, so they are not bound by the same laws as we are. If you took your child to the zoo and saw a great ape having a fiddle with it's penis (which does happen), would you laugh it off and say that is what animals do? I bet you would be complaining to the the staff about it. Filthy animals not living by human rules.

It is ok to not like dogs. It is not ok to say shit like dog owners get off by picking up poo, or find it kinky to express dog anal glands. Do you get off when you change a nappy? Because that is your twisted logic... and so typical of the more extreme dog haters on here. It is not enough to just not like dogs... you have to come out with utter drivel too.

@YeOldeGreyhound

you are right, we shouldn’t hold dogs to human standards…which is why they shouldn’t be in pubs, bars, restaurants, clothes shops etc etc…

When I see that puppy picture I think of hip disorders, genetic heart defects, hypothyroidism, and eating disorders.

..and that disgusting puppy smell.

Lucky you. My neighbour across the street recently lost her beagle after a horrific battle with bone cancer. It's common with the breed.

Humans get cancer too so that is not an argument.

Anyway, you're boring me now.

At the end of the day, dogs are around us. It doesn't matter if we like them or not.

Breast and bowel cancer runs is my family - it’s genetic. So is MS. Doesn’t stop us from ‘breeding’.

Taking a companion animal to places that allow them, is not treating them as human.
Why are you trying to overrule the wishes of businesses? The hospitality industry is dying as it it..

Yes, I have a 15 year old greyhound who has the niggly problems that old age brings.
Greyhounds are very healthy as a large dog breed.
Not everyone is buying pugs.

1 in 2 people will get cancer. We should stop breeding.

And the good thing about dogs is we get to put them down when they go wrong.

Just as well, because we keep knowingly breeding them with congenital hip, heart, spine and breathing problems. Its not like we don't know how to stop this from happening, or at least lessen the problem. But no, looking cute or quirky is more important.

I found out recently the dachshunds have such a long back and short legs, that some dogs slip a disc or can even break their backs from jumping off a sofa. I mean, what the ever living fuck? But at least they look cute, right?

Yup, congenital breeding problems is boring me too, it gets tiring seeing all these animals suffering whilst breeders and vets make a living out of it yawn.
