Germany is doing alright for energy now by the way. It was rough in the first year of the Russian invasion, but it's diversified and is doing okay. Energy prices are high for business but this was the case before, as well as after, although they are even higher now. It's a point of concern but not the major disaster you painted.

Fair — but I did outline a way forward: diplomacy. That path is rapidly narrowing, but hopefully not closed. Iran has previously offered to cap enrichment, export or dilute stockpiles, and accept rigorous inspections in return for sanctions relief and credible guarantees. That’s still a better option than airstrikes, which only drive the program underground and make monitoring harder. Zero enrichment was never realistic — but verifiable limits and oversight can work. If the goal is to reduce the 60% stockpile and avoid another war, we need to reengage, not escalate. @EasternStandard — I’m curious how you see a viable path forward, both now and before the strikes. What would your approach be/have been?

I hope there will be diplomacy. I think Iran and Israel will exchange bombings which is really awful for both groups of people. One may start to run low on missiles then what I’m not sure.

US I assume doesn’t want to keep going on strikes so try to talk again.

Explosions heard over Doha - USA military basis at major risk

Knew this would happen

Roseshavethorns · 23/06/2025 18:17

Iran apparently targeting US base in Doha and perhaps other bases in the Middle East.
I don't want to think about what comes next.

I believe it's 10pm their time - I'm watching Agenda Free TV so they'll cover it. I was starting to feel sleepy. Not so much now....

What is the tv channel please?

sherbertcandy · 23/06/2025 18:21

I am sooo worried and anxiety going through the roof over it all. Now they’ve bombed a US air base in Quatar!

PoopingAllTheWay · 23/06/2025 18:21

Qatar has said they have successfully intercepted missiles

Catsandcheese · 23/06/2025 18:23

I believe they’re also bombíng Kuwait and Bahrain.

PoopingAllTheWay · 23/06/2025 18:24

Not BOMBS - Missiles - Very different

and Qatar have said the missiles have successfully been intercepted

It's on YouTube. Just type in Agenda Free TV. It's a US channel so good for keeping tabs overnight if you have insomnia, like me x

As to the most recent attacks by Iran, I have no words, other than FFS.

I can see the missiles are being intercepted - apologies for using the term bombing! I don’t think missiling is a verb yet.

notimagain · 23/06/2025 18:39

I'd not bet on this but It's just possible this will.be a case of " honours even" and it doesn't escalate.

Can't see Iran being too keen to continue to hit targets in the neighbouring Gulf States, even if aimed at US bases and even if intercepted the collateral damage from the.missiles will hackthe neighbours off.

It was also interesting that the US State Department and the UK FCO issued a warning to nationals quite some time ahead of the strike(s). Did the info come from the Israels, ...or someone else?

The Telegraph has this Iran ‘gave advance warning ahead of strikes’Iran gave advance notice of its plans to launch a missile attack against US bases in the Middle East, the New York Times is reporting.

Three Iranian officials said they had coordinated its strikes with Qatari officials in a bid to minimise casualties.

Ah that's very interesting, thankyou.

@rainingsnoring

we see you and your agenda clearly btw

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/06/2025 18:53

It's bonkers, isn't it? Millions of pounds worth of missiles and interceptors being traded, advance warning given, it's a weirdly scripted "dance" being described as de-escalatory, like a military version of controlled tantrums.

Obviously minimal or no casualties is a good thing, but honestly in my mind it all defies logic....

What is the end game? And how well controlled can it be?

Baffled. Completely baffled.

I'm in Bahrain now, we've just had the all clear. Nothing has been hit here as yet

Catsandcheese · 23/06/2025 18:55

Qatar has said they reserve the right to respond, so who knows.
I imagine Trump will look like a fool if he doesn’t retaliate now.

I hope this was done in the know that there would be no casualties cause Iran knew Qatar would shoot the missiles down. So it shows Iran is not weak because they have retaliated but they havent killed anyone

The Telegraph used phrase exit strategy.

They did three for three apparently

Well done you! I can see your agenda and that of your friends clearly too. Playground bullying tactics to anyone who doesn't appear to agree fully with you and won't be goaded by you. Note, I haven't even stated what I think on this unrelated topic, just mentioned a couple of highly respected scholars. That's all it took for you playground bullies to wade in all together.
It's shocking that so many adults seem to want to control what others are allowed to think and say. Reminds me of some regimes that many, including you, are criticising.

Let's stick to the topic. The others seem to have managed it!
