Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

Even going through menopause didn't trigger me to start hating the heat.

Nor me. I’ve just got back in from an hour’s personal training session. Am I very sweaty? Oh yes. But that’s not anything to be frightened of. I’ll cool down a bit then have a shower and it’ll all be over.

How is that poor community support? When some elderly people think they need to go out wearing a coat, every single time, even when its hot.

Because no one is saying, ‘Aren’t you a bit warm, Mrs Smith’? Or visiting them and noticing the heating is on ow whatever.

Mokel · 20/06/2025 17:37

Not going out? Remove your bra! So much more bearable

This thread is nuts 😂 I am allowed to hate the baking heat, and I hope it bloody well goes back to a nice 20ish level soon

the80sweregreat · 20/06/2025 18:48

A hot weather thread turns into a bun fight.
Was ever thus

Poppy61 · 21/06/2025 10:59

Our infrastructure and homes are not set up for heat. Arabic and other hot countries are. That's why some/majority don't cope so well.

Mymanyellow · 21/06/2025 11:40

Not too bad today. Hotter temperature but a breeze.

Not everywhere!
But watch out for the breeze, it can kill you into a false sense of security and lead to sunburn.

narcASD · 21/06/2025 13:18

I’m feeling quite ill today as it’s so hot where I am, 31 but luckily a breeze, I think being overweight and peri menopausal is why I’m feeling so uncomfortable.
i don’t tend to feel like this on holiday though.

I cancelled a play date today as my kids felt too tired and lethargic.

gingercat02 · 21/06/2025 13:31

Clouded over here now, rain on its way. A friend in Lancaster says it was pouring down this morning

springintoaction321 · 20/06/2025 13:44

Crikey - all these people being 'properly ill' what the actual heck is wrong with you?

I'd be trying to find out

With a few exceptions it seems to be mostly weight related.

Dominicus · 21/06/2025 13:56

It’s actually not too bad at 32 here today.
I don’t mind the heat as long as I don’t have to do any work in it (that includes housework!)
I have a large fan in the living room and one in the kitchen so it’s comfortable.
I’ve just been out and although hot, it’s not that unbearable suffocating heat. There’s a breeze and it’s nice.
I’ve just made a nice jug of juice from the huge watermelon I bought yesterday with lots of ice and we’ll go for a walk in the forest after dinner.
It’s cool amongst the trees.

Nice and pleasant.
But working on Monday will be a pain.

It's had this effect on me as well since yesterday, currently 29 here but feels like 33 - the extremely low pressure has triggered a migraine in me which I'm still recovering from, I could hardly walk in a straight line this morning....it's also upset my stomach too.

Just want to sleep all the time and do nothing...this sort of humidity and heat is just so utterly draining in every way. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm a healthy weight but I have always found hot weather difficult to cope with all my life - some of us are just a bit more sensitive to it, regardless of our weight.

narcASD · 21/06/2025 16:49

Thank you @MoonlightMemories hope you feel better soon too, migraines are awful

Migraines are awful. I also have them. Low (or high) pressure isn’t peculiar to warm weather though so it’s not the heat causing your issue.

Well some will be neurodivergent so our bodies can't always regulate our body temp appropriately and it tires us out more than usual, we don't always feel thirsty or hot in the first place which can easily lead to inadvertent dehydration or overheating.

some will be on medication which again affects temp regulation or makes people more sensitive to the heat.

cadburyegg · 21/06/2025 17:04

I love it. Just got home after seeing a friend and it’s been raining so my washing is soaked. So annoyed!

Come up to Scotland. It's certainly not not here. I've been under my heated blanket all day!

That sounds absolutely divine!

I want to chuck the dog in the car, drive up to stormy remote Scotland and lock myself in a cabin with my books, only opening the front door for muddy walks. 😍

.....aaaaaaaand back to reality 😂

RampantIvy · 21/06/2025 17:12

It's going to cool down significantly tomorrow.

I take it all back. I walked home from work at six only ten mins I felt sick by the time I got home.

Exactly there's so much doom and gloom in the world. We're currently having some lovely weather. The plants are loving it. I'm currently looking at some lovely vibrant geraniums, deep purple lavender, and some lovely smelling roses (they smell like sherbert).

I can hear the children in the school playground, laughing and shouting. The butterflies are trying their best not to get caught by the cat, and the birds are having fun teasing the cats.

Everyone also seems so much happier

YES to this! I am still loving this weather, even though it hit 30C where I am today and yesterday. I do work from home though just a couple of days a week, and can work in the garden under a canopy, so I guess I'm a little bit spoiled. Grin

BurntBroccoli · 21/06/2025 20:31

I walked to the shop this evening to get some respite in their aircon!
The blast of hot air coming back out though 😩
