Or Distinctly Darstardly dependent the relationship I suppose 🤷

Edited

I'm so glad someone else asked that question...I was a bit stumped too! Although some I had managed to work out. 😁

Oops, I thought RTFT was read the full thread! Apologies to anyone I've inadvertently sworn at. 🤣

So did I - is it really not correct??

BertieBotts · 11/06/2025 23:17

There used to be a list of all these.

Wait it's still there!! But there is no easy to find link to it any more. I bet this is horrendously out of date, I think it is just an old page they have not bothered to delete Grin

https://www.mumsnet.com/i/acronyms

I joined MN in 2010, and was hopelessly confused so had to learn the list

ThatshallotBaby · 12/06/2025 20:16

Ddog is still my favourite Grin

Moloneybaloney · 12/06/2025 20:17

Stbxh (or something like that) = soon to be ex husband.
(It took me forever to figure this one out, I used to read it in my as 'stab the bastard something something' for some reason 😂 usually it seemed to fit with the content of the OP)

mondaytosunday · 12/06/2025 20:24

@TeenLifeMumoh dear!
Has this one been mentioned: YP means young person if you don’t want to say their gender.

doglover4ever · 11/06/2025 22:55

As a regular Mumsnet user I really do think that it is very confusing! Just type a few more bloody words and then people actually understand who you are referring too.

Agreed 😂😂😂

It took me way too long (ironically) to realise that TL:DR means Too Long: Didn't Read.

Right?!😂

🙄 it’s in the official mn acronym list (already shared on the thread) and you’ll see it a lot on multiples board, but thanks for the patronising tag.

I really can't understand why Mumsnet doesn't just offer a Topic named Abbreviations. It's so offputting to try and work out what they all mean.

gmgnts · 12/06/2025 20:55

NAMALT = not all men are like that

IANAL I am not a lawyer

CloudywMeatballs · 12/06/2025 21:25

I can't stand the acronyms. Is it that difficult to type the full word?

DiscoBob · 12/06/2025 21:29

D always means 'dear'. Not direct daughter. I don't even know what that is?
But yeah, at first it's confusing.
But DH- dear husband, DD- dear daughter.
You can just put daughter or husband but it's kind of a tradition to put the 'D' for a person you're close to.
Then you get people saying person A, person B, person C, and then start giving people fake names they never use again in the OP.
'my DMIL, let's call her Anastasia, said to my DSD, let's call her Barbie...'

You'll get used to it, don't worry!
