To ask if boys can wear coloured gingham school shorts?

DS starting school in September. I’ve never liked the grey boys’ school shorts. I think they’re horrible.

Could a boy wear the shorts version of the summer dresses in the warmer months? The ones like this:

The little boys round here wear a lot of brightly coloured patterned leggings.

Why couldn’t they were these shorts? Are they obviously girly? Would people bully him or think we were weird? I just think they’re nicer.

There is nothing wrong with wanting baby girls to look feminine! I really hate having to justify to some people why I put bows on my baby girl. I personally like girls to look feminine and boys to look- like little boys! Nothing makes me more annoyed than being judged for actually liking gender stereotypes.

Quite tight too. There are people who would prefer to see baby girls in boiler suits & baby boys in frilly dresses. I say each to their own

I think this is very dependent on where you live and the school itself. I’ve never seen those shorts in the 9 years that I’ve had kids at primary school, but our uniform policy is very much ‘guidelines’ , and some boys do wear cardigans and all sorts of funky socks. I personally have always ignored the sock and shoe uniform guidelines (as have half the school) but I’ve never considered gingham shorts. A four year-old school starter in a bright polo shirt, book bag in hand, is going to look adorable no matter what shorts they wear.
