Why has the 'funny' reaction gone???

MyLimeGuide · 02/06/2025 10:44

I always react 'funny' to funny comments, as there are a lot of comedians on this site, why has this been removed? Any ideas? Are we happy about this?
Question, should the 'funny' reaction come back? Or AIBU To want light humour?

I literally used it yesterday! No idea

KimberleyClark · 02/06/2025 10:46

You can always quote the post and use a laughing emoji.

Dweetfidilove · 02/06/2025 10:46

I used not very long ago, so I'm guessing it's just been removed.

Tsk - back to 😅😅😅😅

BIossomtoes · 02/06/2025 10:46

It was being weaponised on political threads. Perfectly sensible posts were being “funnied”. I find 😂 works just fine.

MsFelicityLemon · 02/06/2025 10:47

Must have only gone recently.

I know (judging by some posters' comments) people thought, from the get go, it was an awful reaction to have. So maybe those against kicked up enough fuss so MNHQ to remove it.?

Mareleine · 02/06/2025 10:48

Now if posters want to mock someone they have to do it out in the open where everyone can see them.

Pandasandelephants · 02/06/2025 10:50

maybe user complaints? I had a a fair few laughs about posts which highlight certain difficulties with education and life in general in relation to having children with very complex needs. Not funny at all. There are some really nasty people on here who love to kick others further down.

SpunkySquid · 02/06/2025 10:52

Using a laughing reaction is bullying? Wow some people have such thin skin. How do they cope in the real world?

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 02/06/2025 10:53

Because people complained that it was being used to take the piss and it was hurting their feelings.

I see but there isn't a 😂on the reaction bit! Oh well, I'll get over it, thanks.

This is what I thought!!! Dammit. I genuinely like letting ppl know when they have made me laugh and vice versa.

I think if the reactions were made viewable to everyone it would have been more sensible.

Those that'd use them to target individuals would be less inclined if they knew other would know they'd done it.

At least it’s out in the open.

And...
As it's an anonymous forum those that are bitter, unhinged old bints and in need of making themselves feel good by putting others down will find a way around it.

Well, if you were posting about your bereavement or miscarriage, and had some joker replying with the laugh response, you might be feeling thin-skinned with some justification?

CandiedPrincess · 02/06/2025 11:13

Imagine being a grown ass adult and feeling bullied by an emoji!

TwattyMcFuckFace · 02/06/2025 11:14

The whole class is being kept in because a minority of posters misused it apparently.

I think it was used to disagree on threads that weren’t fun threads ( as in your opinions are laughable; I’m mocking you/ laughing in your face) and in a cowardly, under the radar fashion by the types who lacked the courage to “ laugh out loud” where others could see the reaction and judge it.

I suppose if you are just friendly laughing - which is what I use it for - you can add that to the thread with an emoji.

I wouldn’t mind if none of them were hidden actually; I’m happy to thank, love or agree in public.

Now that I agree with!

I’d prefer it.

FortyElephants · 02/06/2025 11:17

Because it was being used passive aggressively to silently mock posts and inappropriately on sensitive posts. It's not Facebook, we don't need a laugh. We don't need anything apart from agree IMO.

NeedForSpeed · 02/06/2025 11:20

People were butt hurt when making ludicrous statements that people found them funny. It's been commented on a few times, but tbf plenty of people will also make errors / slip of the screen when using the emojis.
