To be unhappy with this hair?

I paid £274 for this balayage yesterday. The hairdresser was keen to curl it as soon as we were finished, I assume to hide the unevenness. I asked for a blonde balayage but she explained that wouldn’t be possible in one session as my hair had dark brown dye on it. We settled on it being quite warm but I I was happy with that as a first step to blonde.
issue is, now I’ve washed and dried it, it’s SO BLOCKY. One side is definitely better than the other.
would you be happy with this balayage?

No, that’s pretty awful (sorry). I’ve achieved better balayage at home!

Send her the photos and say you want a refund, then go somewhere else to rectify it.

TheSlantedOwl · 01/06/2025 20:02

That’s appalling OP!

You should get every penny back.

cherrycola66 · 01/06/2025 20:03

No, I wouldn’t be happy, I could have done a better job myself with an at home hi lighting kit. Did she even tone it? She is a very poor hairdresser. I myself am not the type to complain ever but if you are I definitely would as 247 is absolutely ridiculous for that, perhaps ask for money back and book elsewhere x

Wouldyoubehappy123 · 01/06/2025 20:03

Ive sent her pics and she’s offered to redo it for me but I’m unsure. How do I go about getting my money back? She spent 4 hrs on it on a Saturday

MynameisJune · 01/06/2025 20:03

That is horrific.

I’d want a refund but I think you’ll struggle, they’ll offer to rectify it for you instead.

Coconutter24 · 01/06/2025 20:03

One side definitely looks better than the other! I’d contact the hairdresser with the pics and say you’re not happy and ask if she can correct it

meagain3 · 01/06/2025 20:04

No. Terrible. Have you contacted her and asked her to sort it/ a refund so you can go elsewhere and have it fixed to look somewhat decent!

Koalafan · 01/06/2025 20:04

That's awful.
Go back and ask for a refund.
Leave a review which reflects this initial result and how they dealt with it.
If you tie it up until they can fix it for you it hopefully won't look so bad.

TonTonMacoute · 01/06/2025 20:04

For that money!? YANBU

Thatcat · 01/06/2025 20:04

It’s not great. I would send that photo to the salon and ask them either for your money back or a corrective procedure by an experienced staff member.

That random stripe? What was she on?

Wouldyoubehappy123 · 01/06/2025 20:04

She said she did tone it but it’s still like this. I’m so upset and embarrassed I don’t even want to go to work tomorrow with hair like this ugh

WhoAreYouTalkingTo · 01/06/2025 20:05

I'd be fuming. You need a refund

MumChp · 01/06/2025 20:06

Waste of money. She should refund you.

Wouldyoubehappy123 · 01/06/2025 20:08

Can someone help me word a refund message please? It’s a self employed lady. I’ve had my hair done by her a few years ago and the balayage was beautiful but it’d grown out by the time I saw her Saturday

It doesn’t look like she did but anyway, it’s not the colour that’s an issue it’s the awful technique she has used, if she’s offering to correct it for free I guess you should try, although if that’s happened the first time I wouldn’t have much hope, you would be within your right to demand a full refund under the circumstances

CoffeeBeansGalore · 01/06/2025 20:09

You asked for a balayage, not stripes! That's dreadful.
Ask that an experienced member of staff corrects it for free or you get a full refund.

Assssofspades · 01/06/2025 20:11

I usually don't see much wrong with these type of hairdresser posts, but I would be really unhappy with this.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 01/06/2025 20:15

Sorry, x post.
Send her your photos.
Hi Tracy
As you can see from the attached photos the balayage you did on my hair looks awful. It's very obviously stripey and not the look I asked for. I am really unhappy.
Under the circumstances I think a full refund is in order. I can then go elsewhere to get it sorted. I will send my bank details separately.
Thanks.

cherrycola66 · 01/06/2025 20:16

Thankyou for offering to correct it for me, however I would like to decline this offer, as bleach and peroxide can be damaging to hair, I wouldn’t feel comfortable having it done again with the chance it could turn out wrong again. As I have paid for a service and this wasn’t done efficiently, I wouldn’t feel comfortable like a refund so I can get this corrected elsewhere, whilst I appreciate your time and effort, I am not willing to return to your service.

Perfect

Overthebow · 01/06/2025 20:17

That’s awful. It looks like you’ve had a bad hair dye that’s growing out, and is stripy on one side. Definitely push for a refund and then find someone better to fix it.

norma1980 · 01/06/2025 20:20

Did she cut it also? I'm sorry but it looks like she isn't great at cutting either. Does she have social media? If she declines to refund you I'd post your photos on her fb page etc as they are self explanatory - I wouldn't try her out

Wouldyoubehappy123 · 01/06/2025 20:23

Yeah she cut it too. The layers are super blocky… thing is I went to her a couple years ago and it was great so not sure what’s happened here

Lovelynames123 · 01/06/2025 20:23

Gosh that's terrible! And extortionate! I did my daughter's hair, watched a lot of YouTube, it's not perfect but then it was also only £30ish by the time I'd bought everything!

AlorsTimeForWine · 01/06/2025 20:25

I'd give her the opportunity to correct if she was great previously.

If it still looks like that you are well within your rights to ask for a refund.
