To be unhappy with this hair?

I paid £274 for this balayage yesterday. The hairdresser was keen to curl it as soon as we were finished, I assume to hide the unevenness. I asked for a blonde balayage but she explained that wouldn’t be possible in one session as my hair had dark brown dye on it. We settled on it being quite warm but I I was happy with that as a first step to blonde.
issue is, now I’ve washed and dried it, it’s SO BLOCKY. One side is definitely better than the other.
would you be happy with this balayage?

She was pushing and pushing to try again so I’m going this morning at 9:30. She’s a good hairdresser, lots of amazing work on her page and she’s just come back from doing a guest spot at a London salon. Plus, she did a great job on my hair before. I’m putting it down to her maybe having a bad day and rushing, hoping I wouldn’t notice. Will update you all with the results later x

Did you get it done? How is it?

Wouldyoubehappy123 · 02/06/2025 13:20

All done. Took 3 hours and I’m much happier with it. Here’s the before and after. It looks super brassy on the pic but it’s not that bad in real life. She added some more highlights, toned it and did a root melt. What do we think?

It does look better but there’s no way she should have made such a bad job first time around. Did she apologise/make an excuse for the bad workmanship?
And you paid too much, no wonder she didn’t want to refund you 😉

Goingtothebeach101 · 02/06/2025 13:26

What is her page on Instagram?

justtaketheeffingpicture · 02/06/2025 13:52

Interesting turn of events.

Clearinguptheclutter · 02/06/2025 13:58

It’s a lot better than it was but still
not great tbh.
if she fitted you in to fix at very short notice she can’t be that busy.
you’ve agreed to let her fix it and it’s definitely ok, but still not worth what you paid

don’t go to her again

GoldDuster · 02/06/2025 14:07

I'd still want a refund, that's an appalling result for £300, even when rectified. I'd be horrified with that if I'd gone to a training evening at the local college and paid buttons, never mind several hundred.

No refund policy? I bet she does, however her unpublished refund policy doesn't supercede the law. This might be useful should you decide you're still not happy.

Foodylicious · 02/06/2025 14:07

It does look better than before.
Are you happy with it?

I do think nearly £300 is far too much for what you have had done.
I have full head of highlights (including toner and olaplax) cut, blowdry amd style for £130. Takes around 4hrs.

I'd be interested to see her breakdown of £274 and what it is you are paying her for

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 02/06/2025 14:08

Let her try and fix it - she's not a salon so asking for a refund is pretty extreme.

I'd say calling yourself a hairdresser and taking £274 from someone and letting them walk out of the door with their hair looking like that was extreme.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 02/06/2025 14:12

Honestly I can’t believe this has cost this much, it’s better but the whole point of balayage is it’s sun-kissed and natural looking, this isn’t that at all!

BillieGi · 02/06/2025 14:18

Its still very blocky, brassy and not blended well at all!

How on earth was it that price in the first place?!

Gettingbysomehow · 02/06/2025 14:21

No that's awful sorry. She doesn't know what she's doing. Go somewhere else. I have similar hair and mine never looked like that.

Gemmawemma9 · 02/06/2025 14:21

It’s much better but still not amazing. I’d ask for a partial refund. There’s also the stress and inconvenience of spending another few hours in the chair to consider!

Gettingbysomehow · 02/06/2025 14:22

Wow how much? I used to pay £150 for mine and it was very professional looking.

Cheffymcchef · 02/06/2025 14:24

Wouldyoubehappy123 · 01/06/2025 20:03

Ive sent her pics and she’s offered to redo it for me but I’m unsure. How do I go about getting my money back? She spent 4 hrs on it on a Saturday

Do a chargeback with your card company and take lots of photos as evidence if they refuse to refund you (but ask first, including in writing via email so you have evidence) .

If you paid in cash, you probably have no chance if they say no. But again, you could try emailing their boss or CEO of the chain.

I am sorry to say that even the rectified result is pretty poor. Did they seem apologetic at all?

edit: just realised they are self employed. I would proceed to chargeback if they don’t refund you. And leaving a rotten review too.

Lovelynames123 · 01/06/2025 20:23

Gosh that's terrible! And extortionate! I did my daughter's hair, watched a lot of YouTube, it's not perfect but then it was also only £30ish by the time I'd bought everything!

Jesus…this is also terrible albeit in a different way to op, including the cut. I wish people who aren’t properly trained didn’t go in for doing their own balayages.

spicemaiden · 02/06/2025 14:28

I’m sorry bits it’s still bloody awful.

WellWoman · 02/06/2025 14:37

Just hopping in to say that I think it now looks really good. Most importantly, do you feel happier with it OP? If not, I hope you find a way to get some redress from the hairdresser.

I'm sorry some of the posts here are so negative about how it looks now - I honestly like it a lot. If it was me I know I'd be worrying about how it looks for work etc. and I thought you might appreciate a positive view.

Nope - go back and complain

diddl · 02/06/2025 14:58

I think you should still be getting a refund!

Summerisere · 02/06/2025 15:00

It’s still not great.

PeapodMcgee · 02/06/2025 15:13

I think it looks fine now it's been redone OP, nobody who sees it in real life would think anything else, people here just want drama x

shipofools · 03/06/2025 00:06

You've paid an enormous amount of money to have your lovely silky hair fried, and to come out after it was "fixed" saying "it’s not that bad in real life".

RogueApple · 03/06/2025 01:03

I'd still be asking for a refund. The updated version isn't good at all.
