To be unhappy with this hair?

I paid £274 for this balayage yesterday. The hairdresser was keen to curl it as soon as we were finished, I assume to hide the unevenness. I asked for a blonde balayage but she explained that wouldn’t be possible in one session as my hair had dark brown dye on it. We settled on it being quite warm but I I was happy with that as a first step to blonde.
issue is, now I’ve washed and dried it, it’s SO BLOCKY. One side is definitely better than the other.
would you be happy with this balayage?

I’ve asked for a refund

That is not a what you asked and paid for.
it’s shocking isn’t ?
Same happened to me this week. I’m new to the area and spoke to a hairdresser a few weeks ago and she recommended this salon I went to this week.
I gave details of colours which my previous HD had given me ( as I moved away) .
she didn’t ask me anything thing about my hair and did highlights and I said I only have min bleach as I have fine hair . She used bleach and a brownish colour .
it is Fking awful !!! After my hair was washed, she dried it with a dryer and fingers. Then used straighteners and then cut it !!!
the front was a massive gap of no colour !
I asked her to fix this,
I was very pleasant, and said something along the lines of, well your haven’t done my hair before so I understand …. Blah blah so she put blonde in the gap and it is so yellow. Like you i didn’t realise until
i got home how awful my hair is …. I did phone and asked could she tone it down. Yes no problem had it done yesterday it does look ok. Never going back and will do proper homework for my next appointment.
obv’s not as expensive as your treatment but still over £100 !
sorry hijacking you post, I totally sympathise and yes be as polite as possible and ask for the colour to be corrected.
It’s tricky, as I was thinking of if I get arsey , she will make it worst .
good luck and let us know how you get on .

She’s still trying to get me to come in again and I’ve said no I don’t wanna overprocess it

Keep refusing and keep insisting you receive a refund, she can’t say no

Wouldyoubehappy123 · 01/06/2025 21:12

She’s claiming she has a no refund policy although this isn’t listed anywhere on her page

HalfWomanHalfFish · 01/06/2025 21:13

If she won't refund then I would post the pictures all over her social media.

I don’t think that matters I’m sure it would come under the consumer rights act

TheyFuckYouUpYourMamAndDad · 01/06/2025 21:46

Jesus I’d be furious about this if it were my hair! That’s bloody awful! I’d want a full refund and I’d go elsewhere.

DontTouchRoach · 01/06/2025 23:12

She charged you NEARLY THREE HUNDRED QUID for that? She’s a disgrace. It’s not even recognisable as balayage.

Anotherparkingthread · 01/06/2025 23:15

That was insanely expensive for hair that looks like you did it yourself (maybe after some wine).

Go get a refund. It's bad. Go somewhere else to try again or brown dye over it.

BillieGi · 01/06/2025 23:15

How did you pay??

Dangermoo · 01/06/2025 23:18

I'm sorry but I just can't get over that price. Mine's 85 quid.

OneFineDay13 · 01/06/2025 23:22

That's horrendous and definitely not even balayage

alcoholnightmare · 01/06/2025 23:24

I’d respond…. “Sorry to hear you have a ‘no refund’ policy, but I wasn’t made aware of that at booking. Please refund me so we can both move on from this without me posting the pictures I’ve sent you as online reviews. Thanks”.

alcoholnightmare · 01/06/2025 23:25

Also…. Send her the link to this thread!

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 01/06/2025 23:30

What her no refund policy is, is immaterial.

It's a bad job and is subject to the usual consumer acts.

BeardofHagrid · 01/06/2025 23:43

I achieved something similar to this with an at-home L’Oreal balayage kit, I’m still waiting for it to grow out 😭

All the hairdressing account I follow always curl the hair, it hides so much.

Lavendersong · 02/06/2025 00:48

You can take her to the small claim courts because she hasn’t given you the service you paid for and refuses to refund you.

Just the threat of it should hopefully get her to cough up a refund

shipofools · 02/06/2025 00:59

You'd be better of getting her to put a brown to match your natural colour over that blonde mess she's made.

justtaketheeffingpicture · 02/06/2025 01:22

That is awful. I have similar pics from a session with a new hairdresser one time but she was in a salon and they rectified it with another colourist. I can understand why you don't want her to redo it.

Wouldyoubehappy123 · 02/06/2025 07:43

She was pushing and pushing to try again so I’m going this morning at 9:30. She’s a good hairdresser, lots of amazing work on her page and she’s just come back from doing a guest spot at a London salon. Plus, she did a great job on my hair before. I’m putting it down to her maybe having a bad day and rushing, hoping I wouldn’t notice. Will update you all with the results later x

Did you pay by card? If so claim it back from them.

Paid by bank transfer. I’ve done some research on toners I can use on it to help it blend at least if it still doesn’t look good but I’ve got my fingers crossed.

OP posts:
Complet · 02/06/2025 07:52

I would give her a chance to rectify it. It won’t be over processed. Any hairdresser would need to use bleach to rectify it. It’s standard for hairdressers to sort it out. I’ve never heard of refunds being given.

How are you going to blend when you have that one outstanding streak down one side? You need that side to be evened up.
