I’ve lost 52 pounds but I’m just kinda over it now

It’s taken almost a year. Lost it via diet changes- minimal carbs, no snacking, no takeaways, minimal wine etc.

But I’m just so over it. I’m just at a loss with what to do. I’ve had a wee cry. Just wish this was all done with.

I probably have another 20 pounds to go. I’m sick of being in diet mode.

I feel physically better. But it’s mental torture. I’m sick of being “good”.

A YEAR of this shit and I’m still not there.

I don’t want to think about food in this level of detail anymore. I want to go to the pub and eat a plate of fish and chips, with several glasses of wine and a slice of cheesecake. Without that fear and guilt. I have cheat days but they’re not worth the stress it causes so I just don’t bother.

It might be a good idea for him to maybe look into one of the alternatives, wegovy, ozempic etc.

I really dont want to go on medication. Maybe if it had been around for 30 years. Also to what end? Do people just stay on those drugs for he rest of their lives?

So I had a very indulgent meal out for dinner yesterday. Curry, rice, naan, trifle. Irish coffees. A lot of red wine. And my god, the food noise has really lessened. I think I need to really incorporate less restriction. Barely thought about food today .

So you want out, enjoyed a meal with out restrictions and feel better for it.

So there's your answer, make it a monthly thing. Life isn't all about restriction.

I think you should do this occasionally. It makes things so much more bearable. Also I found that I’d have a bigger loss after I’d had a break for a night and overindulged a bit. There must be some science behind that!

Yes, I'd love to know the science behind that!!

Have you tried fasting at all? I have found following 16:8 along with some exercise allows me to relax a bit on the diet. I still follow about 80% of the diet I’m on (slimming world) but there’s room to slip a bit here and there and I find that helps it become more of a lifestyle and less of a total ball ache 😂

No, I was replying to another poster about WLI.

What you've done sounds about right, a little indulgence when you fancy it. Restricting 24/7 rarely works.
