Prince Harry and Brooklyn Beckham

Not a good look for our British families

The Beckhams’ once-flawless brand and PR machine have finally taken a dent.

Will Brooklyn be tempted to write a tell all or speak out, like Harry? Surely the Beckhams have their own skeletons, and you can bet the media will bait Brooklyn until he cracks.

Makes me feel somewhat better about my own dysfunctional family.

I feel for David though, his 50th will have been overshadowed by his son. Give, give, give and in return their first born cannot put differences aside to attend.

AIBU to think that parents who give their kids everything just end up creating entitled brats who are so detached from reality, add little to society and throw it all back in their poor parents faces. should there not be some kind of study, research or guidance on how to stop this happening. The world has enough problems.

Take notes Harry on how to keep things behind closed doors 🤓

Membersavedbythebell · 04/05/2025 23:14

I wondered if this thread was about these two getting together 😂

Membersavedbythebell · 04/05/2025 23:14

And what did they not want VB to find out?

TheBreezeTheBreeze · 04/05/2025 23:28

our British families

He tried as a footballer - failed miserably. He tried as a musician - failed spectacularly. He tried as a photographer - failed moderately. He tried as a chef and almost succeeded.

I think you will find he failed photography more than moderately

Is that satire? It can't be real, surely!

ElBandito · 04/05/2025 23:33

It is real. From his book of photos wot he took.

Well yes, I agree. But when I suggested that it's not right for a minority of parents to buy cars for their children, I was on the receiving end of a lot of abuse.

what has Brooklyn Beckham done?

Yes, what has Brooklyn Beckham got to do with Prince Harry?

TheAutumnCrow · 04/05/2025 23:39

It's the culture wars, nepo baby stylee.

Elephant photo book vs Spare

My dad's played for England vs my dad's the King

What a horrible way to talk about another human being. Have you flown everything you’ve done in life? Is someone keeping a list on you?

Funkyblues101 · 04/05/2025 23:56

We have no knowledge of Brooklyn's life. He or his wife could be ill, pregnancy, extended family illness, we have no idea. Or he's decided he doesn't like everyone in cyberspace insulting him, so he's gone private.

Viviennemary · 04/05/2025 23:59

The Beckhams are far too involved in their children's lives. I would say that's the problem.

Wackadaywideawake · 05/05/2025 00:39

Nothing, which I think is the point

It probably speaks to the corrosive effect of American influence on family life.

Harry and the Beckhams have moved to a country ruled by a man who raped his ex-wife and buried her body in a barely-marked grave (since neglected and overgrown), whose current wife seems to go out of her way to show repulsed by him, whose neice has carved out a career as a prominent critic, whose mother asked "what kind of son have I created?" and whose sister labelled him unprincipled and cruel.

For some reason, Americans have really come to admire being hated by your own family. It's bound to rub off a bit.

And the boiled sweet prize for ridiculousness goes to...

Trickabrick · 04/05/2025 21:20

Oh give over, you can blame Trump for many things but it’s a massive stretch to blame him for any alleged estrangement within the Beckham family. Never mind their main family residence is in London, and has been for years!

I didn't know trump raped his wife and that his mum and sister said that? I knew about him admitting he just grabs women by the privates

GeorgiesCat · 05/05/2025 00:47

But back to brooklyn, actually personally, I feel more anyone growing up in the spotlight in the public eye, with famous parents
All the press want him to fail, seems like his wife and vb don't get on the best, just let him be, hopefully he wished his dad happy birthday privately

I’ve been a bit disgusted by the nastiness on this thread but I’m afraid I’m now going to have to join in because it actually took me about 30 seconds to find the elephant in that photo. Which is saying something, given it’s … well, an elephant.

Calliopespa · 05/05/2025 01:39

I thought his own shadow had got in it, wearing headphones.

Calliopespa · 05/05/2025 01:40

Or Princess Leia buns …

FrodoBiggins · 05/05/2025 01:45

@kindnessforthewin - "The Beckhams’ once-flawless brand and PR machine have finally taken a dent."

Didn't he famously fuck their nanny?

(Not to mention kicking Diego Simeone up the arse)

HRTQueen · 05/05/2025 01:58

Maybe he is fed up with having his life always being so public and having to perform. I feel sorry for him like Harry he has been paraded around with no regard for his privacy

difference is he can step away and maybe he is now choosing to

I agree that I think it is easy for people to underestimate the downsides of being born into publicity. They look at the money etc and think no further. The same applies to Harry.

I have a terribly dysfunctional family. I even said it in my post.

It’s just amazing two very privileged young men in the same weekend have made front page news for being somewhat estranged from their families, incredible given the incredible wealth, luxuries, lack of jobs and real world problems they have been afforded.

Edited

I haven't read beyond this post, so others may have made the same point but...

I think the incredible wealth, luxuries, and lack of jobs and real-world problems is actually part of the root cause of their problems. They have too much time and global attention on everything they do. It's much easier to blame your family then look at yourself.

QuaintShaker · 05/05/2025 03:27

Yeah my post was ridiculous, but I dont know that the "not a good look for our British families" comment in the OP was significantly less ridiculous (as if the Royals and the Beckhams are representative of a typical British family, or that family rifts are a uniquely British thing), and I'm not currently inclined to let any opportunity, no matter how ham-fisted and tenuous, to criticize the Trumps and the US pass me by.

Edit: Sorry that was @mathanxiety
