Prince Harry and Brooklyn Beckham

Not a good look for our British families

The Beckhams’ once-flawless brand and PR machine have finally taken a dent.

Will Brooklyn be tempted to write a tell all or speak out, like Harry? Surely the Beckhams have their own skeletons, and you can bet the media will bait Brooklyn until he cracks.

Makes me feel somewhat better about my own dysfunctional family.

I feel for David though, his 50th will have been overshadowed by his son. Give, give, give and in return their first born cannot put differences aside to attend.

AIBU to think that parents who give their kids everything just end up creating entitled brats who are so detached from reality, add little to society and throw it all back in their poor parents faces. should there not be some kind of study, research or guidance on how to stop this happening. The world has enough problems.

@kindnessforthewin when you say "front page news" - that will depend where you are getting your news from.
You might want to look at slightly more investigative journalists than Piers Morgan, who could hardly be called a newshound.

MrsBarryGrant · 04/05/2025 21:39

My bet is that Mrs Brooklyn is pregnant and not able to travel. If he’d come on his own there’d have been speculation about their marriage - can’t win either way. He probably sent Daddy David a Moonpig.com
As for Harry, be quiet, keep it private.

The issue is that they were in the UK earlier in the week, swerved the At Home celebration and went home to the US without seeing family.
Then haven't come back for any other

And although I detest everything being on SM, when people live by it and in it and then don't post, it does seem to be that they're making a point

I have not seen this article, I feel like I need to see it though.

The annoying thing is it’s paywalled, I think it was air mail- I’ll try and find it

It was a Tweet I can across. I didn’t over think it. It’s a sad story if there is a rift. Time will tell but it looks that way and of course many people have followed the Beckham family for decades, so that’s why it is front page news. Factually, it is.

I 100% agree with @DissDissOrDiss Brooklyn knows exactly what reaction his not wishing his Dad a HB and not showing up to the parties will get. And the tabloids have been waiting for the Beckham shine to crack for YEAAAAARRRS.

It’s front page news. I had no idea until Piers Morgan went for it.

Then I did some digging and it is indeed headline news this evening on ahem the Daily Mail with 2k comments.

Anyone who takes notice of the The S*n and Piers Morgan should also get a life.

The OP is very obviously a journalist.

This rolling stone take is decent but not as cutting

Not sure two very rich and privileged young men represent all of British families …

But yes. Sad when any families have estrangement.

I wouldn’t describe 40 as young?

Bambamhoohoo · 04/05/2025 22:10

DissDissOrDiss · 04/05/2025 21:56

My take:

V&B love having all their family around them

Nicole is used to being around her family and gets pouty at their ‘demands’, as she doesn’t want to be swept into the Beckham Bosom. She refuses to attend all the family do’s this side of the pond and Brooklyn stays by her side. V&D get pouty back.

Then factor in that B&N allegedly don’t like Cruz or Romeo’s (can’t remember which) girlfriend as she used to go out with Brooklyns mate Rocco Ritchie.

Add on the fact that the Beckham family are very vocal with the ‘Happy Birthdays’ on social media (usually with a video of unseen, professionally edited, ‘behind the scenes’ family moments) and it is unusual for Brooklyn not to have created a ‘We Love You Dad’ post or attending the old man’s many birthday bashes.

It’s a tabloid dream!

I agree with this take

Not very obviously at all 😂 OP clearly knows nothing about the internal workings of the beckham family and isn’t going to get any more knowledge from Mumsnet. What would the journalistic angle be? 😭

Horses7 · 04/05/2025 22:14

Don’t think Brooklyn will sell his story - unless his wife tells him to. The last thing Brooklyn needs is money.

I don’t know about the poster who said he didn’t wish DB a happy birthday. What is clear is that he didn’t fly in for his Dads 50th Birthday celebrations, nor did he acknowledge it publically, which sounds petty normally but for that family, is unusual.

I completely agree Op & find it very sad when once seemingly close families become estranged.

Whatever has gone on, I do hope he keeps it private & they can reconcile one day whereas with PH, he has sold his family down the river so many times that I can’t see there is ever a way back for the Royal family.

I'm not into celebrity gossip but something about a feud between Brooklyn and Romeo crossed my screen a few weeks ago. Something to do with Romeo dating an ex of Brooklyn's.

Cruz has recently replied to a social media comment saying that Brooklyn never dated Romeo’s girlfriend.

I don’t reckon that would impact him coming to see his dad anyway

shellyleppard · 04/05/2025 21:25

@kindnessforthewin that was me who commented about him not wishing his dad a happy birthday. I should have put supposedly on the comments as I'm only going by what I read in the paper

How would the press or other media know whether he called or messaged his dad privately?
They’re just stirring the pot - as normal.
they actually don’t have a clue!

PenAndPapyrus · 04/05/2025 22:21

Are you a PR agent? Well done trying to get them some publicity if so??

PiggyPigalle · 04/05/2025 22:22

I'm wondering, what's so special about 50? Maybe an achievement in Victorian times, but for an exceptionally wealthy ex sportsman?

Tbrh · 04/05/2025 22:23

It’s really very common to have a big celebration for 50, isn’t it?

He was actually in the country, just nowhere near the birthday celebrations. So was Nicola.
