Prince Harry and Brooklyn Beckham

Not a good look for our British families

The Beckhams’ once-flawless brand and PR machine have finally taken a dent.

Will Brooklyn be tempted to write a tell all or speak out, like Harry? Surely the Beckhams have their own skeletons, and you can bet the media will bait Brooklyn until he cracks.

Makes me feel somewhat better about my own dysfunctional family.

I feel for David though, his 50th will have been overshadowed by his son. Give, give, give and in return their first born cannot put differences aside to attend.

AIBU to think that parents who give their kids everything just end up creating entitled brats who are so detached from reality, add little to society and throw it all back in their poor parents faces. should there not be some kind of study, research or guidance on how to stop this happening. The world has enough problems.

Sorry what about Harper’s teacher??

Yes. Apparently. Word gets around even with a NDA

Nicola peltz is from a hugely wealthy family and her dad is an extremely canny business man and investor

There is no way she would feel obliged to wear dresses to please someone. Maybe the Beckham are not used to someone not bending.

Which schools did the boys go too?

Surely they did go to good schools??

Ha ha, don’t start on the kids and their schools. There was a thread years ago on here about the schools they went to and someone pitched up and said the kids were dim and parents must have paid to get the kids in. VB read the thread and went nuts in an interview…..I do get though being pissed off to read that sort of thing about kids isn’t nice.

Not wished his dad happy birthday on social media?
Sooo what??
What if he called up his dad and said “happy birthday, dad - I love you!”
Would that count - or no?

Agree. There was a thread on here by some young woman who got absolutely pilloried quite rightly for whining that the man she shared a house with did not go on social media to say happy birthday. Perhaps he was on holiday or busy, 50 is hardly special is it when you are young and busy. Perhaps he has realised that living ones life on social media is bonkers. Perhaps he thought ooh people will get their knickers in a right twist if I don't go on social media let's see what happens.

Rumoured that David got Harpers teacher pregnant. I find it very unlikely to be honest

Apple AI says it’s not true…though it gives Mumsnet as the reference for that “fact” 🤣🙈. Think the internet is eating itself!

what interview? I thought I’d seen every one she’s done in the last 20 years 😂

His wife might be pregnant and they don’t want to travel….

there must be a good reason

It probably speaks to the corrosive effect of American influence on family life.

Harry and the Beckhams have moved to a country ruled by a man who raped his ex-wife and buried her body in a barely-marked grave (since neglected and overgrown), whose current wife seems to go out of her way to show repulsed by him, whose neice has carved out a career as a prominent critic, whose mother asked "what kind of son have I created?" and whose sister labelled him unprincipled and cruel.

For some reason, Americans have really come to admire being hated by your own family. It's bound to rub off a bit.

Ivana Trump was buried near the first hole of Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Tax code in New Jersey co incidentally exempts cemetery land from all taxes, rates, and assessments.

Honestly can’t remember, was over a decade ago I reckon. Found a daily Mail article about the whole thing before VB waded in being upset.

I think the wives fell out over her not wearing a VB wedding dress on her big day. There was some reconciliation but it seems like it was fragile and they’ve fallen out again

Someone I know worked for a well known event company in London who put on Guy Ritchie’s birthday. The Event Manager in question said David was trying it on with her towards the end of the night. This was pre 2014 as that’s when she told me.

come to think of it, what happened to the Beckham and Ritchie friendship..

In fairness to the dil, if this is true it’s a bit unreasonable. I wouldn’t want to be told what I had to choose from for my wedding dress.

That article about the children being too thick for school was horrible though. They had such innocent little faces in the photo.

Many London private schools are seriously academic and selective. Just look at a list of the top 50 schools in the country and you will see that London dominates.

They do not suit every, perhaps most, students. Brooklyn went to a school that was less competitive and less selective. Nothing wrong with it. I knew a couple of seriously bright kids who went there after failing to thrive in more intense hothouses, one of whom then went on to a very very selective sixth form, the other on to a very competitive degree course. I knew one family, with nice kids, who were not from the UK and so had not met application deadlines for more selective schools. The school also had plenty of kids with parents with mobile international careers, so a chequered education history (Brooklyn went to school in Spain and the US, I think.) One mum I met when DDs school was playing them, had used every penny they had to pull their distressed and underachieving daughter out of a local state school to escape bullying. Atr one point the school, a decade or two bac, had a very respected head who was very good at ensuring a very diverse intake each had the education they needed. Brooklyn would have been part of that mix.

Apparently Romeo was reasonably bright. Poor Brooklyn. the younger brother had the brains, looks and sports ability (I think he transferred to Millfield.) Brooklyn then went on to a rather cool private arty sixth form with a host of nepo babes. These were the cards he had been dealt and if he had talent and application he would have had the teaching to thrive.

nc007 · 05/05/2025 21:06

2 men marrying narcissistic, controlling women?

kindnessforthewin · 05/05/2025 21:07

The sixth form with the nepo babies would have done it. Mixing with only the arty, rich type. Come to think of it, Cruz seems to have friends he posts about but Brooklyn and Romeo seem not to have any.

I think that the Beckhams exposed their children to too much publicity when they were too young to make their own decisions. This was probably for the brand, but I don't know. Maybe they didn't realise how difficult that might make life for them because times were different and changing even then. So, I sort of judge, sort of don't. I like famous parents who keep their kids out of the limelight, life definitely seems to turn out better for them.

That said, however, it's clear that some of the children have decided to stay in the background but I can't remember which one because I can't remember his name because he's not in the spotlight. I also appreciate that Harper, unlike a lot of daughters out there of a similiar age, looks so normal and not sexualised. I was shocked when I saw Blue Ivy (?) and thought she was at least three years older than she is because please don't. Just don't.

I think the biggest error the family has made has been spoiling the children, most evident in the eldest who has shown himself to be not every good at a lot of things. Far from helping him out by paying for things like that awful photo book it makes him look like a little baby who gets everything he wants on a plate, has never had to work a day in his life, and - most difficult for him I imagine - a laughing stock to the extent that I almost feel sorry for him.

His wife clearly doesn't want any closeness with the family and that's fair enough although in marrying her he seems to have jumped from the so-called frying pan into the blah, etc. He still looks like a spoiled child but with someone different to tell him what to do and when to do it. This is probably not true, but it's a sort of superficial way of describing what you're more interested in than you should be but even then only half interested or interested just about enough to sneer.

We figure there have been no private wishes because the Brand have brought the feud into the open, although it could be two feuds, the same feud but with nuances, or it's all a bollocks but someone is trying to make DB a bit pissed off on his birthday weekend/week/month/whatever.

I see no similarities between Brooklyn Beckham and Prince Harry.

FagsMagsandBags · 05/05/2025 21:17

@kindnessforthewin thank you, Cruz was the name I forgot. Am I right in thinking he plays football and is just getting on with that rather than all the other stuff?

Bambamhoohoo · 05/05/2025 21:30

the interesting thing about the beckhams is they’ve had such longevity with their fame- they’ve lived through so much. I don’t really agree they’ve put their children on social media - mainly because, for Brooklyn at least, social media wasn’t even about when he was a child.

they didn’t do a great job of protecting him from the media- but at the same time, the media was very different back then and impossible to control. Their documentary Looked back at the paparazzi when they were in Spain for example, and it was unbelievable really, seeing it through 2025 eyes.

so no they haven’t pixilated their faces, they have more than likely worked with not against the media- but it wasn’t quite the whoring out it’s made out to be imo

Well that’s a matter of opinion. To me he’s the better looking one because he has a more manly look. It’s a matter of taste and I’m not sure anyway why you’d want to write something so derisory .

Yeah it is a matter of taste.

Romeo however was paid to work as a model.

Admit it. You wouldn't be on this thread if you did not like a bit of gossip.

Bambamhoohoo · 05/05/2025 21:55

To be honest, Having seen interviews with BB (he’s always flogging something) he comes across as nice, polite and positive/ happy

it does make me wonder though, the beckhams have always vocalised this slight obsession with their children being polite and kind, and they’ve done a great job… but it does seem very basic- maybe they should’ve expected a bit more?

IthasYes · 05/05/2025 21:56

Maybe brooklyn like Harry and William had to see a distraught mother coping with thier husband affairs

I think the fear or worry of letting vb know about the wedding issues is fascinating. Surely they wouldn't care?

They are the richer far more powerful family deep in American society.
So why?

IthasYes · 05/05/2025 21:57

@Bambamhoohoo how could they expect more if they are not capable of more? A study once said the education of a child is largely down to the mothers level of education. How old or accurate that study is now who knows...

IthasYes · 05/05/2025 21:59

J*I'm not sure Harper does look normal I have a 12 year old and I'd feel uncomfortable with her in dresses like that however it's vb style and girls usually want to copy at that age
