Thought it would be nice to start a positive post so what things make you happy big or small .. some of mine are seeing the kids laughing having fun, gardening, tapas and a cocktail in the sun, having a weekend day of no plans, exploring interesting new places and ..sleep 😂

Big things: DH, DD, my parents and siblings - my family in general. DD being happy and healthy.

Little things: really the reason why I wanted to post here - I just discovered the glorious combination of some strong cheddar grated cold on toast and then drizzled with some acacia honey and pecans. It was so good I can't believe I've not tried it before. DH said it was weird and blamed my pregnancy cravings, but I googled it and it's a well established combination on toast! Happy me!

PS. Lovely idea for a thread OP!

That sounds incredible! I'm going to try it.

When my little dog puts his soft furry paws round my neck and snuggles in for a cuddle.

Awwwww. Adorable!

Being single. Every day free from abuse is a joy.

💯%

Walking in forests.

Fishing - I love the peace of it, no rushing as you can't hurry fish, no phone distraction because have to keep watching the float, and the reward of tasty fish.

Walked along the coast from Flamborough Head last week. It was stunning scenery, good walking weather and just an absolute joy.
I've not been to the East Riding before and it was a real eye opener. Definitely returning

my dogs, the beach, the fact that I am early retired and can walk the beach daily as I live in a beach area. A good glass of wine, a good book and a long cool shower on a hot day, which every day is here

Being with my husband
walking my dog in nature (trees, birdsong, flowers)
sewing/dressmaking
A good TV drama
getting into bed in fresh sheets with a good book

I was in the garden today, reading my book on a sunlounger. This isn’t something I’d normally do, for two reasons: I’m not an outdoorsy person, and I live in Scotland with a north-facing garden!!
However the weather was gorgeous today and I was just lying there with a grin on my face thinking ‘oh, I’m loving this.’
I also had a garden nap, which was blissful. And had had my garden done on Monday, so it was looking all neat with short grass!

My family. Just spending time with my husband and children. Imagination games with my 4yo, cuddling my baby

Being out in nature - woodland walks, paddling in the river, salty sea air at the beach

Hot coffee and the crossword

Garden birds

A really good plate of spaghetti

Stone fruits

A really good book

mrsmiawallace3 · 01/07/2026 00:57

The Spa at David Lloyd - pure bliss!

also nice to see this thread again - some good positive answers. Not the way it always goes on here!

My husband, sewing (making my own clothes), my dogs, walking in woodland. There are other things, but these are my favourites.

inkgirl · 01/07/2026 11:30

My kids and my boyfriend, seeing how he is with my kids makes my heart melt and makes me so broody

Ridiculous answer for a 44 year old woman but Take That have made me stupidly happy since seeing them on Friday.

Love that they are still making you happy. Must take you back in your mind to when you were younger listening to them?

dizzydizzydizzy · 02/07/2026 09:38

So many things…. A new flower opening in the garden, watching the garden birds, especially at this time of year when they have babies - a few days ago I watched some starling parents popping food into the beak of their fledgling.

Taking a good photo.

Reading a good book.

Enjoying a good meal.

A beautiful sunset, sunrise or rainbow.

Listening to ABBA. I have watched all the documentaries about them multiple times, been to the show in London, seen Mamma Mia on the stage and also the film. I also went to the ABBA Museum in Stockholm which was brilliant.

A holiday, of course. I love travel.
