Thought it would be nice to start a positive post so what things make you happy big or small .. some of mine are seeing the kids laughing having fun, gardening, tapas and a cocktail in the sun, having a weekend day of no plans, exploring interesting new places and ..sleep 😂

When I'm about to watch a film with a nice treat, after just peaking in on DCs, seeing them sound asleep.

My bean to cup morning coffee (even better if accompanied by a sweet treat), while dcs have their milk on a weekend. We have our drinks together, a little chat and then I make breakfast. It is lovely to not have the school morning mad rush.

The feeling of getting into a nice hot bath after doing loads of exercise.

The feeling of getting into clean cold sheets, and stretching my legs out.

Knowing I don't have to cook, ahhhh...

So basically everything relaxing 😂

YABU.

Have you heard there are other boards on Mumsnet? Mumsnet is not just AIBU? Mumsnet is for checking your opinion, not having a bland chat.

Oh do piss off.

Currently seeing my little girl enjoy a rocket ice lolly making rocket noises after running round like a rocket in her nappy.

Than go have your enthralling miserable "chat", and leave us alone! Why are you even on this thread? 🤪

PickyTits · 04/05/2025 18:09

Reading, writing, journaling, being on top of my housework/washing/to do list, spending quality time with my son (he's a teen so doesn't happen as often as I'd like), my cats and mostly BEING SINGLE! I have never, ever been more happy than when I am single.

Lovely thread. A hard gym class leaving dripping with sweat, spin classes, sunshine, being near water, planning for holidays, pre holiday prep, travel, the beach, cooking, trying new restaurants, reading in the garden, reading cookbooks, lists, socialising, podcasts

We are twins! Our lists match in lots of places!

Emmz1510 · 05/05/2025 10:50

Doing work in the garden then sitting in the sun with a drink admiring my work and feeling slightly sore but satisfied!
Singing in my choir.
Sitting with my feet in the sea or river someplace pretty.
The half hour before my daughter’s bedtime when we are reading a story and having one of those chats that only happen at bedtime.
Watching a good movie, TV series or quiz with my OH

A day when anxiety takes a Bank Holiday

FinallyHere · 05/05/2025 11:04

Great thread, thank you

mostly spending time with friends and family. With a side order of how well I feel in myself after a strenuous walk or yoga session. I’ve got stronger as I’ve got older (starting from a very low base) and love using that strength and enjoying the rest afterwards. For a long time I used to use all the wrong muscles and my back would ache at any really sporting effort. Yoga has helped me so much with finding the right way for my body to work together.

ToadRage · 05/05/2025 11:10

A sunny day, sharing dinner out in the garden with my husband. Watching my cat with the zoomies or loving one of my husbands shirts. The other day we invited my neighbour over for a glass of wine, despite living next door to each other for the past 8 years, apart from saying hello over the fence we hadn't socialised much before and it was nice to get to know her a bit better. Seeing my little cousins and imagining what it would be like if they were my kids but also being able to give them back.

For me, go shopping, wearing beautiful clothes, wearing makeup.

MargoLivebetter · 07/05/2025 12:04

@CoolPlayer lovely thread, thank you. Other than my family being safe and well, here the ones that popped immediately into my mind:

Sitting in the evening sunshine in my back garden. I've dreamt of a west facing garden for years and I finally have one. Brings me a lovely contented feeling.

A good walk - always gives me a feeling of well-being.

Hot shower - never ceases to please me. I always think how lucky I am to live in a place and era with showers.

SquirrelsTail · 09/07/2025 17:26

My family and friends, most of all my kids, animals, good food, tv, films, books, surfing the internet, planing holidays, taking holidays, cycling, swimming, shopping, spa days, cuddles and hairstrokes

Peace mainly I guess

Willwetalk · 09/07/2025 20:30

ssd · 09/07/2025 20:43

I'm happy as long as my kids are happy.

PersephonePomegranate · 09/07/2025 20:50

My child, a good book, going to the theatre, going to a nice restaurant, sunshine, being by the sea, music, laughing with family and friends, getting up early before my DC at the weekend and having a good cup of coffee, yoga.

Thingyfanding · 09/07/2025 20:52

My children laughing and dancing and my garden

JMSA · 10/07/2025 00:40

Being on my own 😳 My teens are on holiday with their dad and I am loving pottering around my immaculate home.

FrillySocksAndDocs · 10/07/2025 00:45

Dancing, the Beatles, my cats and dog. My daughter is disabled after COVID caused a brain infection she has an orphaned chinchilla and she is so attached to him. Just seeing how he is helping her makes me happy. Swimming in the sea and trainers.

SantiagoShaming · 10/07/2025 00:46

A silent, empty (clean) house on a rainy day and really getting into a book. I can happily read for hours if undisturbed and I have nothing else demanding my attention.

Going away on a holiday.

Sitting down to a lovely big roast with a glass of wine on a Sunday.

Having a weekend with absolutely no plans so I can binge a good series and sleep in.

Getting the desired result on a big work project and that satisfaction of knowing I made it a success.

gollyimholly · 10/07/2025 00:51

Big things: DH, DD, my parents and siblings - my family in general. DD being happy and healthy.

Little things: really the reason why I wanted to post here - I just discovered the glorious combination of some strong cheddar grated cold on toast and then drizzled with some acacia honey and pecans. It was so good I can't believe I've not tried it before. DH said it was weird and blamed my pregnancy cravings, but I googled it and it's a well established combination on toast! Happy me!

PS. Lovely idea for a thread OP!

Jacobs4 · 10/07/2025 01:17

Morning coffee, waking in my comfortable bed with my nice bed linen, walking into my pretty kitchen that I painted. Being able to make and drink coffee alone. My cat, I very much love my beautiful cat. Looking at the sky. Choosing clothes and putting on make up. Lipstick always gives me pleasure. Going for a walk in the park, getting provisions for supper for me and DC’s, eating together, lounging on the sofa, doing crosswords. A long bath. Clean hair. Soft pillows. Flowers.

MuckFusk · 10/07/2025 04:46

Having a laugh with my daughter and my niece. Cuddling my dog. Being with dogs in general, looking at waterfalls, flowers, lighthouses, being in the forest listening to the wind in the trees and the birdsong. Swimming is another one. There are more but those are at the top of the list.
Several times I have had the chance to swim beneath a waterfall which was surrounded by forest. It was heaven.
