Weird thoughts other people must think...

Surely everyone has a fleeting thought of the bath falling through the ceiling whilst they're in it?

Does anyone else have this thought?

And other recurring little thoughts people have that other people must also think?

OP posts:

ooh yes I love stuff like this cant think of one though

UndermyShoeJoe · 15/04/2025 21:01

I used to I don’t anymore. Im not keen on bridges for that exact reason though even ones over 1ft of water.

My latest random thing has been on the toilet wondering how a blind person knows when they have wiped enough…

Lottie2shoes · 15/04/2025 21:03

Yes and my bathroom used to be situated on top of a ginnel. I used to worry that the bath would crash through the ceiling and I’d be there starkers for all to see!
Thankfully the bath is over the kitchen now so that is not as bad! Although still have that feeling once in a while.

GivingUpFinally · 15/04/2025 21:06

Not the bath thought but it will now pop into my head.

I always wonder if I'll get a pop of bacon grease in my eye, when frying bacon. Not that I have it often.

Lou16777 · 15/04/2025 21:09

Mine is only minor compared but I'm a teacher and I always have this fear when I sit down on my spinning chair after walking round room/writing on the board, I'm going to miss it and fall straight on my bum

SendBooksAndTea · 15/04/2025 21:10

I sometimes wonder how I'd stay on if my bed were to start to fly (like in Bedknobs and Broomsticks).

I also often think about where I would hide in a tornado, or how I'd escape from wherever I am if there was a gunman on the loose or similar.

I have plenty, but not this one, my bath is on the concrete floor that's about 10" deep, so if the bath fell through there, I'd be having much bigger problems than the bath falling through the ceiling🤣🤣

We had a teacher who sat on her chair, trumped and then laughed so hard I’m guessing as a embarrassment thing she fell
off her chair at primary school 😅 just to add a new fear.

Oh, this one's gonna bother me now!!

I suppose they just have to go with a wet wipe and hoping for the best? Unless they use one of their other senses, I suppose nose 👃🏻 💩

Eminybob · 15/04/2025 21:13

Yes I have that one. Also almost every time I’m in the loo I imagine twisting my ankle and falling on my way back downstairs.

Oldermum84 · 15/04/2025 21:15

Yes the bath one!! Thought it was just me!

@Lou16777 Just know that if this happens, as traumatic as it may be for you - your students will find it hilarious and will think of it often 😁😂

I had a teacher who used to wheel around the classroom on his and one day he tried to wheel from the door to his desk…got to the desk but then the chair tipped over, he went flying and all we could see were his feet poking up above the desk 🤣🤣
Obviously lots of laughter from the whole class. (He was fine!)
Later on in the lesson he wheeled back out on his chair which only had one arm now 🥲 and as soon as I noticed that I was gone - the laughter just wouldn’t stop.

TheNightingalesStarling · 15/04/2025 21:15

Had a wierd one today. An alarm went off when I was in the CoOp and I thought of security shutters coming down and trapping us all inside.

Sidebeforeself · 15/04/2025 21:17

If I’m in the bath I’m really scared a shark is going to come bursting out of the plug hole.

It could happen you know

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 15/04/2025 21:17

When I'm going around sharp bends on an A road, and a massive articulated lorry is coming towards me, I wonder for a split second if it's going to veer off slightly and crash into me! 😬

Lammveg · 15/04/2025 21:18

When I'm swimming in the pool I think there's a shark behind me

MaybeMrs · 15/04/2025 21:18

I always panic something might get me in the pool. Like a shark or other bitey thing! 😂🙈

😆

Reminds me. I used to be scared (as a child,) that when I pulled the plug out of the plughole, that I would be dragged down with the water, into the drains! 😱

Oooo that’s an old fear unlocked. I hate the gurgling sound ours makes.

Sidebeforeself · 15/04/2025 21:20

Obviously sharks are more of an everyday risk that you think!

WhyDoesItAlways · 15/04/2025 21:20

I have a few of these. Getting a papercut on my eyeball. No idea what scenario would lead to that happening but still something I think about.

Since I dislocated my knee I often think of being able to grab the knee cap of my other knee and pull it off. It makes me wince a bit but I think it's because the dislocated knee has never felt right since it happened so I think about damaging the other to balance things up a bit.

I also think about various disasters happening when I'm at work (natural or terrorist) and how I would get to safety.

Whenever my son scoots home from school I can see him falling into the road and his head going under a car tyre. Scares me witless and I have to try really hard to not let my anxieties be known to him.

@SendBooksAndTea I was worried to write mine incase it took the thread to a darker place but you are literally me 😅 Everytime I go somewhere new I’m checking out the exits 🫠 Always planning for the maniac entering the room or the next natural disaster! I remember sitting in uni lectures asking my classmate “if someone was to burst in that door in the corner…do you think we’d be faster trying to get out that door or that door?” 😂 How to make friends, huh?

@ReenaGee Also very much with you on the bath thing.

During take off (which I hate!) on a flight I have also been known to ask DH “what would you do if the engines were to cut out right now?!” as the plane is climbing 😂🫠

I’m not a very relaxing person to be around!

UndermyShoeJoe · 15/04/2025 21:21

Dh as a child/teen used to have a fear that a snake would come out the toilet and bite him while he was going to the toilet.

Apparently there had been such an incident in the paper around that age of his.

Eminybob · 15/04/2025 21:21

Just remembered I was at the top of a waterslide today and suddenly panicked that someone might have imbedded razor blades in the slide. Used to be a regular fear but haven’t had it for a while until today.
