Just that. Looking for opinions. Currently using aptamil but baby is crying each afternoon, not sure if its related to digestive issues but gp suggested to change the formula and see…

SMA.

QueenOfWeeds · 14/04/2025 19:52

We switched from Aptamil to Cow&Gate and DD seemed a bit comfier on it. I know a few babies who thrived on Kendamil, and some who really didn’t get on with it.

How old is your baby?

2025willbemytime · 14/04/2025 19:53

It was years ago and it was for cereal as I breast fed but all mine had HiPP Organic.

Emma543 · 14/04/2025 19:54

Had to change from Kendamil to cow and gate.
best advice I had was whatever is the most readily available for you e.g. sold at your corner shop etc!

We used Mamia (aldi). My DD couldn't tolerate antimalarial. Mamia was more lighter and didn't give her as much reflux.

Createausernameplease · 14/04/2025 19:58

Aptamil pepti 1 due to cmpa

aldi is nowhere near us so probably not the best choice for me specifically but what is antimalarial formula?

Kendamil subscription to the door 🙌

And aptamil for my other kids but they were born in 2015 and 2017 so I’m sure times have moved on since then. No issues though.

wineosaurus4 · 14/04/2025 20:02

HIPP organic was a life saver for our very unsettled baby! I was recommended it by a few friends and it worked a treat. You can also get a comfort version x

PluckyBamboo · 14/04/2025 20:06

My MIL was a Midwife and seemed to think Cow and Gate was the best of the formula options. She banged on about so much to my SIL (another DIL) she deliberately went for SMA to stop MIL taking over everything with the next branch of the family tree.

Personal opinion, whichever one is easiest to source in your local shops/chemist is the best one for you.

Matildahoney · 14/04/2025 20:06

Kendamil was better for DS, it was lighter than Aldi or aptamil.

QueenOfWeeds · 14/04/2025 20:14

How is she with wind? Might it also be worth trying a different bottle?

x2boys · 14/04/2025 20:15

Cow&Gate .

Sorry its meant to say aptimal. Bloody predictive text.

MrsApplepants · 14/04/2025 20:18

SMA as I could get the ready made version if it easily

Maray1967 · 14/04/2025 20:20

DS1 started on SMA but we moved him to Cow & Gate on HV’s advice and he was better on it. DS2 just on C & G.

DepressingMumLife234 · 14/04/2025 20:20

I breastfeed and that sounds like my baby at 6 weeks, if no other symptoms like green poo, blood in stool or vomiting, then it's just standard newborn stuff. It went away by 12 weeks.

alcoholnightmare · 14/04/2025 20:20

The Aldi one

That sounds normal for a 6w old baby.

Are there any other symptoms that you raised with your GP?

Do you have a sling for baby? To help keep baby close and enable you to give the 4yo an airing?

HundredPercentUnsure · 14/04/2025 20:23

Also congrats on your newborn! 🥰

DamnitCarol · 14/04/2025 20:23

DC1 had aptimil anti reflux, and DC2 had Cow and Gate. I tried Hipp and Kendamil also but neither of them got on with it, they became very refluxy on them!

khaa2091 · 14/04/2025 20:43

Hipp organic. I found it dissolved best! Aptamil tablets were easier out and about but much more difficult to get the bottles clean.

To be fair my combination fed daughter was never that fussed.

nannyl · 14/04/2025 20:44

None at all.
