I got beef and mushrooms and egg fried rice on Wednesday. It'll be OK if I heat it thoroughly tonight won't it?

BananaBubbless · 28/02/2025 19:38

No I wouldn’t.

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 28/02/2025 19:40

I would. But I wouldn’t want to advise someone else to do it and be responsible for them getting ill. But I’d take the risk for myself. 😂

Seeline · 28/02/2025 19:40

I wouldn't risk the rice - it will already have been reheated at least once.
If you cooked the beef quickly and put it straight in the fridge, I'd be tempted.

SushiWarrior · 28/02/2025 19:40

No. I personally would definitely not reheat the egg fried rice (not even the next day!) I might risk the beef it smelt ok but probably not.

MyFlightWasAwfulThanksForAsking · 28/02/2025 19:40

Depends how much of a fan you are of your bathroom decor...

NonPlayerExtra · 28/02/2025 19:40

I would. Heat it through properly.

oviraptor21 · 28/02/2025 19:41

I do it all the time.

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/02/2025 19:41

eww no

SunshineDreamcatcher · 28/02/2025 19:42

You're not supposed to reheat rice

Milodon · 28/02/2025 19:43

It wouldn’t have even crossed my mind not to. Leftovers are generally fine for at least 3 days. As long as you heat it properly it will be fine. I might do the rice in a frying pan rather than microwave for texture reasons.

How do you think fried rice is made?

Loub1987 · 28/02/2025 19:43

I’d eat the beef cold and not touch the egg fried rice personally.

HippeePrincess · 28/02/2025 19:44

I’ve always done this with any takeaway and never had any adverse effects.

CookieSue222 · 28/02/2025 19:44

NO NO NO, that's just a recipe for food poisoning

The word takeaway is in the title of the thread!! Confused

RIPVPROG · 28/02/2025 19:48

100% I'd eat it, I've worked in a variety of kitchens and if you're ordering from a takeaway you're already taking chances with most of them (and I'm fine with that).
This thread reminds me of the Phil Wang segment on British people and rice

If I’m reheating take-away (which we always do as well get a whole weekend out of it) I don’t reheat the meat.

Take the beef out, and just add or to sauce / rice afterwards.

You shouldn't do it twice https://www.food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/home-food-fact-checker

CremeEggThief · 28/02/2025 19:50

Could you do a bit of rice separately if it's in different containers already?

BobbyBiscuits · 28/02/2025 19:53

The 'rule' is that cooked food is good for three days. So if it smells fine, and you heat it up thoroughly, I'd say it should be alright.
I ate two day old Singapore noodles the other week and was fine. Bloated with MSG, but fine!

ExtraOnions · 28/02/2025 19:53

I would .. zap it in the microwave, lovely

mumof1or2 · 28/02/2025 19:56

God, I reheat two day old take away without even thinking about it! Agree with the pp who said this thread reminds them of the Phil Wang clip where he says about British people being terrified to reheat rice!

justusandthecat · 28/02/2025 19:57

I would but I eat raw sausages so my idea of safe to eat is pretty lax.

Anotherparkingthread · 28/02/2025 19:58

Hahaha. I love the hysteria on here about old food. As if every single women is of such a weak constitution that any 3 days old noodles may be her last.

If you're fit and healthy, leftovers are fine. I have eaten all kinds of stuff that's a few days old and I've never been sick. Ever.

Do common sense checks. If visually it looks okay, cool, passed step one. If it smells okay that's great, good for step two. Then taste some, if it tastes okay you're probably good to go. Just reheat it well and you will be fine.
