I got beef and mushrooms and egg fried rice on Wednesday. It'll be OK if I heat it thoroughly tonight won't it?

I definitely would, I hate wasting takeaway food. Especially if not traveling anywhere and with access to a good toilet in the day after.

FuckMeUpFlorida · 28/02/2025 20:01

I would, but I've got a gut of steel.

if it smells/looks ok, that's my guidelines.

crinkletits · 28/02/2025 20:01

It's fine as long as it's piping hot.

WeeklyNameChangeTime · 28/02/2025 20:02

Takes me 3 days to finish a Chinese, I would do it. Nuke the rice

Smartiepants79 · 28/02/2025 20:02

Don’t eat the rice.

FindusMakesPancakes · 28/02/2025 20:04

Reheated Chinese leftovers = food of the gods.
A set meal for 4 feeds us for best part of a week!

You're not supposed to reheat rice

Of course you can reheat rice! It is usually good for 3 days if it's been in the fridge or freezer. And make sure its very hot.

Snugglemonkey · 28/02/2025 20:30

I would. I make rice in quantities and reheat all the time. Especially for fried rice. I just take out the right number of portions and fry from frozen. Or nuke leftovers from the takeaway.

I have reheated rice for 25 years without issue.

Depends how much of a fan you are of your bathroom decor...

Be careful with the rice!

JohnTheRevelator · 28/02/2025 21:56

You need to be very careful with rice as it can contain a dangerous bacteria that can cause a nasty bout of food poisoning. You would need to reheat it really thoroughly until it's steaming hot. I have done this on quite a few occasions over the years and never been ill (yet!).

CatsRabbitsDogsFish · 28/02/2025 21:59

I'd eat it, Id heat the food really well before eating and I wouldn't give it to my DD. Id only risk my health not hers!

Ilitetallycantrememberanythinganymore · 28/02/2025 22:04

Of course it's fine just reheat thoroughly. What is the matter wirh people! This is up.there with I can never wear any clorhes twice. You will be fine OP enjoy your takeaway.

Ferrazzuoli · 28/02/2025 22:06

I would.

Ezlo · 28/02/2025 22:08

Thank you everyone. Such a mix of responses. Well, I'm being brave and reheating both the rice and the beef dish. Yum! Hope I don't poo myself in the night ha ha ha.

Assuming you put the leftovers in the fridge then I wouldn't have thought twice about it.
If you are concerned or the rice doesn't smell nice (it's the egg part I wouldn't be sire about) then just put it with some fresh cooked rice.

AnOldCynic · 28/02/2025 22:13

Christ, I want a Chinese takeaway now! 😆

And yes to Phil Wang, saw that a while ago. Hilarious and true!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/02/2025 22:19

Yes do this all the time. As long as heat well

Dreamskies · 28/02/2025 22:23

Was it stored in the fridge? If so it’s absolutely fine.

I often eat Chinese next day, and on some occasions the second day if for some reason I wasn’t able to finish it the next day. Heck, I’ll even freeze it if I have to! It won’t make you ill unless you’ve left it sat on the side. In which case it still probably would be fine, but definitely more risky. Make sure it’s well heated.

Hyperbowl · 28/02/2025 22:28

justusandthecat · 28/02/2025 19:57

I would but I eat raw sausages so my idea of safe to eat is pretty lax.

Oh my god, why?! 😬😬

LillyPJ · 28/02/2025 22:30

I'm usually quite relaxed about reheating food but I wouldn't in this case. Some of it might have been reheated before you got it or been hanging around in warm conditions.

Moonshine5 · 28/02/2025 22:31

Nope

Wallawallakoala · 28/02/2025 22:32

I’d normally say yeah but I’ve just got a really really bad bout of food poisoning from doing this last weekend I’m not over it yet, so it’s not worth it!!

MyFlightWasAwfulThanksForAsking · 28/02/2025 19:40

I've been re heating takeawaya for over 30 years and no ill effects in the slightest, do you have a medical condition or some sort?

KilkennyCats · 28/02/2025 22:47

Milodon · 28/02/2025 19:43

It wouldn’t have even crossed my mind not to. Leftovers are generally fine for at least 3 days. As long as you heat it properly it will be fine. I might do the rice in a frying pan rather than microwave for texture reasons.

Leftover rice most certainly is not.
