Just that is you’re wash / laundry basket empty right now? This isn’t a post to make anyone feel bad I feel like I'm forever doing washing day to day clothes, uniform, gym stuff, towels, bedding, pet covers I know we all do this but if anyone has any good tips or routines they’ve got into please share! Also is anyone else exited to get the washing out on the line with some sun or is it just me? Lol :)

No, it never happens. There's 7 people in this house, five of them are teens and adults so the washing is crazy!

Writerbiter · 25/02/2025 12:18

I don't think I've ever had an empty laundry basket. There is always washing to be done.

JHound · 25/02/2025 12:18

Nope and I never do. And I have a household of 1.

Natsku · 25/02/2025 12:19

Pretty much. There's a pair of woolly socks and a pair of tights that won't get washed until the end of winter when I wash all the woollen things together, so they don't really count.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 25/02/2025 12:19

Haaa I’m doing so much washing today as we going away for a week tomorrow and I’ve loads to get dry before we leave! I’ve a baby and a toddler and it’s never ending 🤣 we live in a flat and always had to dry inside - however last year my husband installed a retractable washing line outside my bedroom window - it’s the best thing I ever got 🤣🤣 I have to climb out the window to use it but it’s well worth it

Littletreefrog · 25/02/2025 12:19

Yes because I did 5 loads yesterday and two this morning. They will have things in them again by this evening though.

Manchesterbythesea · 25/02/2025 12:20

The wash baskets from the bedrooms are all empty at the moment. I’ve a second wash on. I’m going to change our bed too so that’ll be 3. It’s never ending. 5 of us here..a lot of sport clothes and Dh & ds have manual outside jobs so lots of work clothes.

Danikm151 · 25/02/2025 12:20

What’s an empty laundry basket?

TooManyNiblings · 25/02/2025 12:20

For a couple of hours after I've done a load, 3 of us. It doesn't bother me.

TY78910 · 25/02/2025 12:21

No 😭😭😭

Crunchymum · 25/02/2025 12:22

No, and on the rare occasion they are empty they do not stay empty for long.

Laundry (like cooking / and to some degree food shopping) is a job that is just never finished? It never ends!

Giggorata · 25/02/2025 12:23

Never seen the bottom of my laundry basket..

Curlygirl06 · 25/02/2025 12:24

I have bags for different types of washing- hot washing (towels, sheets and pants) white washing and dark. Whichever bag is fullest gets done next so I've never got an empty basket! However, I sometimes have just a few bits in each bag so no washing gets done that day, always a happy day then.

Climpy · 25/02/2025 12:27

No, because it's Tuesday. But we empty the basket every weekend. I don't know how people wash every day - I would find that much harder.

Couldb3wors3 · 25/02/2025 12:28

My husband did his washing yesterday and I just have yesterday's clothes in my basket so we're pretty clear...

TY78910 · 25/02/2025 12:28

Giggorata · 25/02/2025 12:23

Never seen the bottom of my laundry basket..

Can you imagine if there was a stash of gold at the bottom and we will just never know?

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 25/02/2025 12:28

It is. Washing machine and dryer are both currently going.

TeenToTwenties · 25/02/2025 12:29

Yes more or less.
The downside is there is a load of ironing to be done.

SequoiaTree · 25/02/2025 12:30

No never. I do light stuff and coloured stuff separately so even if I do all of one, there's still the other colour in the laundry basket. I don't have a drier so it's easier in the summer when I can dry outside. I can empty it then

EvilNextDoor · 25/02/2025 12:31

Only time mines ever been empty was when I purchased it 🤣🤣

My darling teens emptied their rooms of towels last night so have 2 loads of those to do today if I want a shower tonight and some bedding, also a load of DH’s clothes

loveforautumn · 25/02/2025 12:32

Yes it is, finally! I also have washing out on the line today too!

Climpy · 25/02/2025 12:32

Totally with you on getting the washing out on the line OP. My husband thinks it's weird.

Squeakpopcorn · 25/02/2025 12:33

Rarely. Unless I’ve done a light and dark load on the day and even then it would only last until 7 when the kids get ready for bed. I have a bigger issue with unsorted clean washing around the house.

Anywherebuthere · 25/02/2025 12:33

I can't remember the last time it was empty for more than a few hours. Theres always something ready to go in the machine when a load has finished.

YellowDaffodilRedTulip · 25/02/2025 12:33

People separate their laundry too much in my opinion.
Darks, Lights, Bedding/towels, everything else.
Stick a colour catcher in if necessary.
