Just that is you’re wash / laundry basket empty right now? This isn’t a post to make anyone feel bad I feel like I'm forever doing washing day to day clothes, uniform, gym stuff, towels, bedding, pet covers I know we all do this but if anyone has any good tips or routines they’ve got into please share! Also is anyone else exited to get the washing out on the line with some sun or is it just me? Lol :)

Rarely. Unless I’ve done a light and dark load on the day and even then it would only last until 7 when the kids get ready for bed. I have a bigger issue with unsorted clean washing around the house.

I've got two large basket and two shopping bags full of clean laundry in the conservatory that I keep promising to myself, that I'll put away - but then I look at the wardrobes that all seem so full despite them all being tidied and all unused stuff being sent to charity and it's like my brain just screams "No".
I need to do it though - I'll do it tomorrow *looks away

Bunnybear42 · 25/02/2025 13:45

I'm not sure I've seen my laundry basket empty in the last few years 🙈 it doesn't matter how much I attack it - it is never ending x

Frowningprovidence · 25/02/2025 13:50

No. It's not supposed to be empty. Its just a cycle of wear, basket, wash, dry, hang, wear, basket, wash, dry, hang.

Somethings gone wrong if there is nothing in the basket.

Lovelynames123 · 25/02/2025 13:53

Yes, but only because we're on holiday so I did it all before we left knowing I'd have plenty to do on our return! It's never ending!

ItWasntMyFault · 25/02/2025 13:54

Yes but there's only two of us at home now and I work from home so doing washing mid week is easy.
It was harder when the children were little and I worked in the office every day.

Orangebadger · 25/02/2025 14:03

Ha ha!! My DH was off last week and proudly told me on Wednesday that all the laundry baskets were empty. He was so pleased but then so deflated when only 1 day later he could have easily filled the washing machine up again!!

Nowhere near! Washing machine was out of action for 3 days so with 5 of us, it has built up! I'm working on it today 😂

Ah we had a few days with no washing machine recently. Good luck on the catch up! :)

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’ve never had an empty laundry basket in my life! 🙈

nam3c4ang3 · 25/02/2025 14:28

Never had an empty one - since i had children, its so crazy.

876543A · 25/02/2025 14:28

Half full. I do a load a day. Bung it in machine first thing in the morning, hang it up with the dehumidifier on in the spare room after the school run. Chuck the dry clothes on the spare bed at end of day. Repeat the next day, then put away all the dry clothes at the weekend.

cait967 · 25/02/2025 14:39

I do! But once kids get changed for bed it will be half full again

Never. We're a big family. I have three dirty baskets. One for DH and I, one for the DC, and one for wools.

I'd have to do the laundry full time to ever get the bottom of it.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 25/02/2025 20:43

They’re all empty at home because I cleared it before we came away on holiday

when we get back we will have 8 days x 4 people’s worth of laundry to catch up on so I’m not feeling smug!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 25/02/2025 20:46

My washing machine is broken. It’s been dying slowly for the last three weeks (drive belt kept falling off mid-cycle) and finally gave out a horrific burning electric smell yesterday. The washing is already overflowing due to the slow death throes, and I don’t suppose we can go and get another washing machine until Friday at the earliest. <sobs>

TheRealHousewife · 25/02/2025 12:51

Could you fall to your death 😮 Just reading your post gave me the panics 😱

Yes @Fupoffyagrasshole , please tell us you are on the ground floor!!

Buttonless · 25/02/2025 20:52

Yes, mine is. But we each have a separate laundry basket per bedroom.

PurpleChrayn · 25/02/2025 20:53

Yes! Feeling very pleased with myself. However, give it half an hour and it will be half-full again with DH's million garments.

MermaidMummy06 · 25/02/2025 20:56

Of course not! I empty the basket by doing washing, and, without fail, someone walks in two minutes later & dumps more in the basket. Its infuriating. Especially if the load wasn't full!

I only wash twice a week (unless necessary to do more) anyway.

HalfTermHoliday · 25/02/2025 21:01

Absolutely fucking not! 😂

We were away for some of half term, have had overnight guests since too, and everyone in this house just keeps on wearing things all the time. I've done about 6352 washes in this last week, proper full washes not 3-4 item joke washes. It's endless!

Normallynumb · 25/02/2025 23:13

No... and I live alone!
In my defence I only put it on when there's enough for a decent machine load then it all goes in with a colour catcher.

CuteEasterBunny · 25/02/2025 23:16

It was empty yesterday morning but now it’s full again. I honestly don’t know how it fills so fast.

Argh that’s so annoying I was without one for a few days recently ended up taking some stuff to the laundrette. Feels good when you get one back though!

There are probably things at the bottom of my washing basket that I forgot existed

Lilyhatesjaz · 25/02/2025 23:45

Yes completely empty.
