I sent a friend request on FB as I was falling asleep

I also

invited someone accidentally to a facebook group which was totally outside that person’s demographic-

  • think sending a Facebook group invite to a 70 year old for something they’re likely to have NO knowledge of or interest in!

THEN next morning o woke up to a status on Facebook from that person
“Thanks for inviting me to your group”

Grin

I did this as I was falling asleep with phone in hand

I will never forget the post on here about a woman who was stalking photos of her ex, his wife and their new baby, and accidentally managed to tag herself in a photo as the baby.

Hahaha this is hilarious!

I'm a local Facebook group, someone posted up a notice of a funeral - featuring the crying with laughter emoji background...

One of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever done was writing the name of the person I had a crush on in what I thought was the search bar in my half asleep state and I’d actually written it as my status. I still cringe about it now, 15 years later. 😬😬🤦🏼‍♀️

I know someone that did this - I still cringe on their behalf

stayawayyyyyfromdatingapps · 13/02/2025 12:21

I was drunk once asking a bootycall for a lift home and I had 'Gatwick parking services' as a sponsored ad in my inbox.

I messaged them something along the lines off
'Hey babe can you pick me up I've got a tiny black dress on you can take off in the car'

I didn't realise until the AM when I got a message back saying 'unfortunately we can't help with this, don't need anymore assistance?'

I was 18..

My Mum tried to hit the 'care' button on a post where someone posted their Dad had died. She hit the laughing one instead!!

Thankfully as luck would have it we were on a family holiday at the time and she came rushing through to my room absolutely horrified and nearly in tears.

Changed it before anyone saw it - we think 🤦🏻‍♀️

Someone did that on a my post about my Dad's death.
Loads of care and hearts and then one person laughing. The laughing one is too close to the care one, it's dangerous!

michael jackson GIF

Don't worry it could be worse. I was once having a very serious conversation with a po faced acquaintance on messenger, and accidentally sent Michael Jackson gif much like this one. We both ignored it 😆

OMG, I nearly choked on my lunch laughing 😂

I'm literally crying at my desk at this one!

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 13/02/2025 12:47

Back in the day of MSN chat, you could hold lots of different conversations. I was chatting to two different blokes and by accident invited one of them into the other one's chat. One of them typed "who is this?" and I thought, oh shit and immediately logged off and left them to it 😂

I did this too except it was an enemy 🤣

Years ago I accidentally sent a friend request to my partners dead wife.

we were early in our relationship and I was curious so had a look at her FB page. It had been changed to a remembrance page and my now partner had posted about her death and funeral arrangements and so I assumed he had control of it.

The horror was real! I quickly undid the request and waited, stomach in knots for him to message me as I assumed he’d get the notification email. He never did and it’s never been mentioned but that was anxiety inducing!

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 13/02/2025 13:03

This thread has given me a fit of the giggles, especially the baby tagging one 😂

I accidentally sent a friend request to my ex husband's wife. Thought I had deleted it on time but alas no. Thankfully she is a beautiful human and we still speak on messenger from time to time.

im talking to this guy on snapchat. Ive never met him but ive been talking to him for about 4 days. We are planning on going on a double date and he seems excited about it. He’s super flirty and I don’t mind it because I really like him but when he’s at school he leaves me on delivered for hours and hours and I can see he’s online. When I get home from school I usually text him again or send him a snap to get his attention and he usually responds asap, then we talk back and forth for a while. In the morning I always say “good morningggg” and he usually responds right away but I feel like if I don’t say it first he won’t say anything. Is this just normal for guys to do this or is he not interested?

@YourLoftySeal I think you might be better to start your own post if you want answers/advice. You have replied to a current thread so your question is buried.

Disturbia81 · 13/02/2025 14:42

I was viewing someones story on fb once and it was of a trip, all good until the last one which was an intimate photo they DEFINITELY wouldn't have shared, it's scary how easy it can be!

AddictedToBooks · 13/02/2025 16:07

My sister thought she was being "helpful" once by sending a friend's request from my account to a close friend of one of my (not now) favourite actors - I got a notification when I was at work from a total stranger who I'd never heard of, asking if he knew me and wanting to know why I had sent him a friend's request.

I was absolutely mortified and furious - for a start I'm already married and secondly I'm a lot older than my sister, so this man must have thought I was a desperate old tart.

I sent an apology and then blocked him and have never unblocked him.

giveupmengetacat · 13/02/2025 16:12

In the early days of Facebook, I was showing the profile of a classmate to my cousin when we were out for a family meal. No idea why, he wasn't someone I fancied or anything.

Anyway I later updated my status to say 'out with family for nans birthday' etc something along those lines.

But I hadn't put it as my status had I?

I'd written it on his bloody page!!!

The signal in the restaurant was AWFUL and I was frantically trying to delete it without even knowing if it had actually posted. Whilst my family were hissing at me to put my phone away 😳.

I think I did get rid of it. He never said anything about it anyway 😂

giveupmengetacat · 13/02/2025 16:16

I don't use Facebook anymore, but do have a separate Instagram account for the insta stalking, so if I do accidentally like something, I don't have to change my name and move countries 😁

LouH1981 · 13/02/2025 16:16

Looong time ago, before smart phones, I was in a text conversation with a friend talking about a work colleague after they’d had an argument….obviously I sent the wrong message to the wrong person, didn’t I 🙈🙈

crouchendtigerr · 13/02/2025 16:49

What you do is put them in the restricted list, then after a few months u friend

crouchendtigerr · 13/02/2025 16:50

Unfriend

I've done this

Twice

I sent my ex a long steamy message about what I was going to do to him and sent it to my mother

Years later,I was chatting to ds via messenger and decided to send dp a sexy photo of my boobs at the same time

Yep,I sent it to ds but didn't notice until he mentioned it!

Oh My God! 😂

We have a family group chat on Whatsapp. My sister's partner recently sent her a rather rude message about how much he was missing her while she was away on a work trip and what he'd like to do as soon as she got home. He accidentally posted it to the family group chat which included my sister's adult sons and all my young adult children. My DH and I were howling.
