I sent a friend request on FB as I was falling asleep

I also

invited someone accidentally to a facebook group which was totally outside that person’s demographic-

  • think sending a Facebook group invite to a 70 year old for something they’re likely to have NO knowledge of or interest in!

THEN next morning o woke up to a status on Facebook from that person
“Thanks for inviting me to your group”

Grin

I did this as I was falling asleep with phone in hand

I will never forget the post on here about a woman who was stalking photos of her ex, his wife and their new baby, and accidentally managed to tag herself in a photo as the baby.

Oh god, these just get funnier and funnier!! 1🤣🤣

(I was going to bed an hour ago, but got caught on the spare room thread).

Differentstarts · 12/02/2025 23:10

Iv shared tiktok live streams as im falling asleep. Iv also accidently liked Facebook posts from years ago when I'm Facebook stalking. And on a seperate issue iv lost count of the amount of times iv dropped my phone on my face as im falling asleep

SAME - I’ve just woken up DH because I laughed out loud at the baby tagging, just as I’d recovered from the spare room thread 😂

One of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever done was writing the name of the person I had a crush on in what I thought was the search bar in my half asleep state and I’d actually written it as my status. I still cringe about it now, 15 years later. 😬😬🤦🏼‍♀️

I had a friend who done this when she was drunk but it was her ex she was trying to look up and she had his name as a Facebook post, the comment's were very very funny

Tvp123 · 12/02/2025 23:19

During the days when you could tag yourself in someone else's FB pics a friend tagged herself in her ex boyfriend's new girlfriend's pic. Couldn't be any more obvious she'd been doing a page stalk!

LoLotheYoYo · 12/02/2025 23:19

Waah, I think this is how I've got about about half my FB friends 😁 A right ecclectic bunch they are; even my eybrows rise whenever I review my friends list ...

ClairDeLaLune · 12/02/2025 23:20

I created an event on FB for my and DH’s silver wedding anniversary party and accidentally invited a load of people I didn’t want to invite. I have no idea how. Luckily one of the randoms declined the next day and I realised and deleted it. No-one else ever mentioned it!

welshwanderwoman · 12/02/2025 23:04

Yeah but have you ever accidentally liked your DH’s ex’s wedding photos while stalking her? Asking for a friend …

From memory, one poster on here went one better than this and accidentally tagged herself as one of the guests in her ex’s wedding photos!

SassK · 12/02/2025 23:26

I've did this! I've sent both friend requests and likes whilst nodding off 🙈 I sent a friend request to the Mum of a girl my daughter was constantly bickering with at school, and she accepted! I don't have FB now.

Miaowzabella · 12/02/2025 23:31

This is why my phone is not allowed in the bedroom.

I've done this but even worse 😬 I accidentally changed my status to the name of a male friend I didn't fancy, but he fancied me 🫣 also once wrote a text moaning about something he'd done and accidentally sent it to him instead of a mutual friend. I clearly shouldn't be allowed a phone!

Teado · 12/02/2025 23:37

The baby tagging thing had me 😆 😆

How embarrassing!

LionAndEmperor13 · 12/02/2025 23:41

My babysitter told me she couldn't babysit one night as she was going to the funeral of her friend who had recently died (she was 19, Very sad). I accidentally liked her message with a laughing face emoji.
It was by scrolling on my phone. Kept trying to delete it, in the end messaged her to apologise, and she said 'it's ok, I know you didn't mean to do that reaction, it's just that you're old and you don't know how to use your phone".
(I was 40 at the time, but I took it.)
We're still in touch and she's lovely!

DancingHippos · 12/02/2025 23:41

We have a friend who's son has profound special needs and has been in and out of hospital. When dd was 3yo, somehow she changed my FB profile to a pic of him and his family. She did the same thing to my whatsapp profile pic. I didn't twig until I started getting messages, asking if he was OK. 😳
I changed it swiftly and had to explain to friend what had happened.

LimeLime · 12/02/2025 23:42

I've sent two facebook PMs whilst falling asleep, both containing only thumbs up emojis, one was to a good friend who found it hilarious, but the other was to a rather po-faced lady from a craft group I'm in, whoops!

My toddler has sent out a few friend requests, probably to the bemusement of the people who accept!

My toddler has clicked the "is this available" auto-message button on FB marketplace before... I've had to send messages to say I'm sorry but I'm not actually interested, it was my small child... 🤦‍♀️

Same toddler has also been responsible for some random "pocket" (suppose that should say "toddler") dials... this once led to a random but funny and lovely text conversation with the lady who owned our youngest cat before he came to us as a kitten, about 6 years prior to the "toddler dial"!

I did that but with an ex's new girlfriend's name

Bornslippery · 12/02/2025 23:45

Apparently Facebook is for us oldies anyway according to a recent course I went on. So I wouldn't worry

VWT5 · 12/02/2025 23:45

I fall asleep every night literally on here, invariably my finger has accidentally brushed the “report” button randomly.

Living in fear that though I'm a decent upstanding citizen but MNHQ are on to me. Feel like some sort of criminal.

Sodullincomparison · 12/02/2025 23:47

my then 2 year old was watching a Sesame Street Song she liked and sent it to my new boss at 7am on a Sunday morning.

how on earth she did it we’ll never know.

he watched the video and sent a message back to her. That’s when I realised what had happened.

as for being drunk and Facebook the least said the better!

RedSnapdragon · 12/02/2025 23:48

Before I knew how fb worked, yonks ago, I accidentally liked multiple photos of a new colleague’s girlfriend (yes, I was idly stalking). I’m still blocked from her profile to this day!
She must have asked him, ‘Who IS this complete weirdo on your friends list liking my pics?’

Oh God, the embarrassment - and it’s never been mentioned. I’m feeling it all over again!

GinToBegin · 12/02/2025 23:54

I might have been on the other side of this. Had a facebook friend from my long-estranged (40 years) uncle. Thought, fair enough, accepted and sent a little message referring to the friend request saying nice to hear from him.

He replied saying he didn’t recall sending a friend request, but he was so incompetent with tech ‘anything could happen’. Added a few newsy bits.

Ignored and blocked. Prick.

Whats the spare room thread please

LittleVoice11 · 13/02/2025 00:03

I posted an old nostalgic pic or story of something on Instagram and a random chap I don’t know personally but who’s posts I sometimes like, liked it, Somehow it kind of sent an emoji message to my inbox. Anyway I nodded off while scrolling through and accidentally phoned him at 2 in the morning via instagram, which I never even knew was a thing! And he’s married! Mortifying especially when trying to explain what happened in a follow up message! Thank heavens he saw the funny side!
