is it just me or does anyone else hate the days inbetween xmas and new year and going into the new year. I feel like i end up a little depressed, like i have nothing to look forward to. Kids driving me mad, been round my OH to much so were bickering and i just feel out of routine.

Do anyone else feel like this?

I feel it’s very quiet but I am glad to be off work. But I know what you mean - lack of structure (need to create my own but I’ll think about that next year)

Threeisme · 29/12/2024 12:53

Yes! Just yes! I'm also fed up of food as well as people.

FuckItItsFine · 29/12/2024 12:53

No, sorry I love them! Can stay up as late as I want, sleep in, eat any food any time of day (ie chocolate cake and cheese for breakfast). Went to the supermarket yesterday and the roads were lovely and quiet as well as the shop itself. I don’t have kids though.

Emmav2020 · 29/12/2024 12:54

@Threeisme yes food, im just eating for sake of it and not even enjoying it. its just there and im bored

I love the days between Christmas and New year. For me it's a period of resting and relaxing. I think I like it more than the run up to Christmas.

Emmav2020 · 29/12/2024 12:56

i feel like one year i would love to go away maybe abroad or just somewhere here for a few days maybe around the 27th dec but its so expensive.

I know what you mean. I've been so excited for Christmas as have the kids and now it's a bit of a come down. Kids driving me wild. I want to 'relish every moment' but because they are so out of routine and full of Christmas chocolate etc it's all very emotional and mental. I'm dare I say it looking forward to getting back into a routine.

YesExactlyYes · 29/12/2024 12:56

No, I quite like them. Dreading the resumption of normal service AKA going back to work.

oustedbymymate · 29/12/2024 12:57

Pre kids we went away. Every year. From 28th to 1st or 2nd. Loved it. I miss that bit of being child free

DarkForces · 29/12/2024 12:59

We've headed to a holiday park. It's such dead time otherwise

Yeah it’s a weird mix for me as I feel like you describe except for the nothing to look forward to part. LOVE a fresh new year and planning all the fun things ahead.

MILLYmo0se · 29/12/2024 12:59

I used to love it when DP would be working from the 27th but now he's off pretty much til the 2nd and he's very needy and bored, driving me mad

ThewrathofBethDutton · 29/12/2024 13:01

Love it!!

Sales, sleep in, eating, slippers, cleaning & clearing out crap. Washing on the radiators, visiting folk, relaxing, Netflix, films, telly, audiobooks.

LOVE. IT!

JADS · 29/12/2024 13:03

I love this bit. We use it to see friends and just chill. Read a book, build some Christmas Lego. Used to go away with dh and that was great too.

This year I volunteered at Park Run for the first time. There is plenty going on, it's just not what you would normally do.

We have done a massive clearout this morning! When the Christmas Dec's come down, my house always feels bigger as we do usually do some pre and post Christmas decluttering.

Thewrongdoor · 29/12/2024 13:05

I like it. It’s still Christmas now. New Year is still Christmas, and it is still Christmas beyond that for nearly another week.

BCBird · 29/12/2024 13:07

I like it as can do as I please. No.kids or partner to consider. No work to.do -woo hoo.

happytobee · 29/12/2024 13:07

Been seeing different friends and family, eating, drinking and sleeping when and what I want, off to the football today, it’s just time off work to fit in stuff I don’t seem to have time for otherwise.

Gamerlady · 29/12/2024 13:07

Wish we could enjoy the days in-between but unfortunately we have to work as usual. I'd love to have more quality time at home with my family.

MammaTo · 29/12/2024 13:07

I love our little Christmas bubble. Lots of food, playing with toys, films and no routine. Back to work tomorrow sadly but it’s been lovely.

ByGraceAlone · 29/12/2024 13:08

It's the best bit.

WhereDoBrokenHeartsGo · 29/12/2024 13:10

I’m the same, I hate sitting around and feels like a waste of holiday days. We go away every year. I love tidying up on Christmas night and heading off the next morning!

Currently sat baking by a pool in Gran Canaria, it doesn't feel like Xmas and it's great. I would recommend !

Wintershealing · 29/12/2024 13:10

I'm currently on day 3 of hermit mode! I've done nothing but sit on the sofa, have drinks, had a nice dinner, cats, sleeping in etc. The run up to Christmas was stressful as started new ft job, prepping for Christmas with shopping/wrapping etc. Then socialising over Christmas! It feels nice to have a rest!

Bonjovispyjamas · 29/12/2024 13:11

Love it purely for the fact I'm off work, it's going way too fast as usual though 😫
