is it just me or does anyone else hate the days inbetween xmas and new year and going into the new year. I feel like i end up a little depressed, like i have nothing to look forward to. Kids driving me mad, been round my OH to much so were bickering and i just feel out of routine.

Do anyone else feel like this?

No. Having worked over Xmas we fly off to Sri-Lanka in a few weeks to catch some rays. Did it last January too and have decided to make it a yearly tradition 🌞🕶️

It's a hideous time. Like being in limbo. I always compare it to the dreadful time in-between someone dying and their funeral..

Ah well back to work next week eh?

BotterMon · 29/12/2024 15:21

Love it. No rules, no-one knows/cares what day it is, eat what you like when you like. After the mad rush towards Christmas with planning etc. it's so relaxing.

Still have to do horses, dogs, chickens etc. so not completely lazy!

SwordBilledHummingbird · 29/12/2024 15:23

I love them. I'm ill this year and really grumpy that I'm missing out on my planned activities.

user1471554720 · 29/12/2024 15:23

To all the people who are bored, if you worked full time and had to cover between Christmas and New Year, you would be grateful for the few days off. I am not bored, tweens at home. I worked Friday will take Thursday off. I will enjoy ny 2 days off!!

PumpkinPie2016 · 29/12/2024 15:23

I quite enjoy it. Had my parents to stay boxing day night so part of the 27th was taken up with them.
Saw some friends who were up from London yesterday.
Today, we have been on a steam train and had a nice lunch in a pub. Just got home.
Enjoying time to just relax and chill out - watching Wallace and Gromit in a bit 😂 hopefully we will get out for a walk later in the week and I need to get my son a new coat.

I'm back at work on the 6th and do need to do a few things work wise before I head back so will do those over this week and it's also my dad's 70th party on the 4th.

Luckily my son is 11 and very chilled - we only have one so it's nice and peaceful here.

I love my job but term time is just so hectic (I'm a teacher and head of a core subject) so I enjoy a bit of a breather!

I love the down time, it’s a real holiday for me.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 29/12/2024 15:27

I usually feel like this but I’m trying to embrace them and use the time to clear out the house a bit and relax trying to get in a good frame of mind for the new year. So today we’ve cleared some drawers and sorted through books and games for the charity shop. Friday I worked. Tomorrow I will finally try to get my arse to the gym after putting it off every day and sort a bit more stuff out but make time to relax and read my book as well.

Beezknees · 29/12/2024 15:29

I love it, I've booked a couple of days off so I'm not back at work until the 2nd. Not in "diet mode" yet so still eating lovely food and drink, doesn't feel stressful.

January 2nd is the worst day by far. Back to work, back to normality, not much to look forward to for a while, skint and shite weather.

Christ! That bad!! 🙈

Snackpocket · 29/12/2024 15:31

I love it. Last week was super busy seeing family but I’ve had 3 days of full on relaxing days. I‘m gutted I’ve got to end it and work tomorrow!

2nd is still a bank holiday here in Scotland. We need more time to recover 😅

Rosti1981 · 29/12/2024 15:33

Friday I was off work and we did a short walk to a nice pub for a late lunch
Parkrun yesterday, some laundry, eating some leftovers and a nap. Watching some stuff and reading late afternoon.
Gym workout and yoga this morning, some laundry, a normal lunch at last and a nap.
Monday/Tuesday I'm working but I actually love working between Xmas and New year (office job) because it's so quiet and I can get training/a bit of deep thinking work done without meetings. I will go to the gym at lunchtime.

Rosti1981 · 29/12/2024 15:34

Oh and I got my hair cut yesterday. Hairdressers was really quiet!

RebeccaDecember · 29/12/2024 15:35

Chrimbo limbo was call these days. I do like them as it feels like everything finally slows down.. I do need to try and eat a meal without a side of sausage roll, cheese and doorstop bread though 😁

Bloom15 · 29/12/2024 15:36

I'm off work this year and love them. Nothing to do and nowhere to go

Agreed - that is why I am going back on the 6th of January 🥳

CestLaVie123 · 29/12/2024 15:49

Agree OP. I have the post-Christmas blues. I need routine.

Emmav2020 · 29/12/2024 12:56

i feel like one year i would love to go away maybe abroad or just somewhere here for a few days maybe around the 27th dec but its so expensive.

Not if you book really early and not in a tourist hotspot. We used to go to my parents' in the twixmas period and stay with them for a few days. After they died, I kept up a post- Christmas trip, just me and my autistic son, and I am so very grateful. No cooking or cleaning, just some low key events and hotel time. Absolutely love it

Abracadabra12345 · 29/12/2024 15:51

oustedbymymate · 29/12/2024 12:57

Pre kids we went away. Every year. From 28th to 1st or 2nd. Loved it. I miss that bit of being child free

Exact days I'm away. Hang on there - that time will return

Eldermillennial2024 · 29/12/2024 15:51

Hate may be putting it a bit strongly? We were super busy up to Christmas Day so I've been enjoying a change of pace.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 29/12/2024 15:51

Love it. Just packing for a trip to Marseille for New Year tomorrow 🙂

Real R&R time.

(Fortunately our office is closed and we don't have to use annual leave. A true bonus!).

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 29/12/2024 15:52

I love the peace and quiet of them

ChiliFiend · 29/12/2024 15:55

I would love it if I didn't have young(ish) children. Trying to entertain them when everything is cold and wet outside and their friends aren't around is pretty miserable.

TiredEyesToday · 29/12/2024 15:55

It’s considered Christmas until Epiphany on the 6th in our house - and I bloody love it- much more than the lead up to, and Christmas Day itself. I’ve done everything I needed to do, Im not back at work until the 6th, so we can go walking, eat nice stuff, watch Telly, do odd jobs if I feel like it…. And it’s the one time of year all my senior colleagues are off too, so I’m left alone.
