White socks over leggings

It's kind of ugly.
Personal preference of course (so let's not get too deep!), but it's everywhere right now and looks so awful that it turns me off buying any clothes paired with them. I can appreciate kids wearing them because younger people like to mess with convention but jesus they make even the longest legs look cut in half. Just no!

Love them. So comfy, warmer, cold exposed ankles are no longer a thing. No more annoying trainer socks slipping off your feet inside your trainers. I have a couple of pairs of leggings that are slightly too short but that doesn't matter any more because the socks hide the length. This is one trend I hope stays for a long while!

Bring back leg warmers

It’s a young person thing. I have no idea who can look at someone wearing it and think “That’s a great look / can’t wait to copy it.”

Lots of girls at secondary school do this over leggings and also over black tights.

It's not for me ...but I like my ankle out so I don't get too warm if I need to wear layers or a coat 🤣🤣

I would, but for the fear of looking like a tragic almost 50 year old trying to look like a youngster. I think it's a great look though, makes me think of 80s leg warmers.

It looks awful. But I'll take them over lip fillers or over-done eyebrows, it's a fairly harmless trend.

The irritating thing about them is that they scream "I'm following a trend! I am trendy! I have a tiktok and instagram account "!

This. Trainer socks not only look daft IMO, they are uncomfortable and annoying.

Lots of the mums on the school run wear it. I'm pro-it because it keeps your ankles nice and toasty warm. If you're pear shaped, I think it can stop you looking like a turnip too (speaking from experience)

I've embraced longer socks over trainer socks now, but you won't catch me wearing leggings unless you see me going to or from the gym, I still don't understand grown women wearing gym wear for anything other than the gym. Don't get me started on tracksuits!

My ankles will remain exposed (the Victorians would be aghast!). I think it looks much better. Socks over leggings looks too sensible, like tucking your top into your knickers

I've always wore my socks like this with leggings as trainer socks are the work of the devil. I only wear leggings for exercise so I am not overly bothered what they look like.

A lot of secondary school aged girls do it here but have noticed an increasing number of adults copying this look too. I definitely would look like some gym reject so am probably just jealous of those who can pull off the look.

I do this for the gym and running. Keeps my ankles cosy when it's chilly.

There's nothing inherently ugly or nice-looking about it imo - it's just fashion. If something was deeply unfashionable-looking when you were young, it's hard to like it as a look when it becones fashionable when you're older.

I am over 50, broke my foot a year ago and still have trouble with my ankle swelling so the ribbed longer socks are great for some compression.

I'm aware I might look like I'm trying to follow younger trends but I who actually cares?

Also I do actually like the look.

I agree; leggings are not outerwear. I don’t want to see your lardy arse and bulging thighs, thanks. At least wear a longer jumper.

not sure i would get away with it but it would be lovely not to have the gap between end of leggings/trousers/jogging bottoms and shoes. i do remember wearing something similar at school socks over tights must have been towards end of Secondary school but found it pulled my tights down all the time so ended up with a bare bum which is much chillier than cold feet!

They look completely daft, like you've gone out in your bed socks. Fine for teenagers, they're meant to look daft, but adults copying them is just weird.

Black socks or legwarmers yes, ugly white sports socks no.

I wear mine like that for the gym. I didn't realize I had to focus on making my legs look long. How terrible of me.

I don’t love the way it looks but I do it myself😂
Keeps my ankles warm and stops my leggings from sagging at the ankle (pet hate of mine).

Surprisingly, when I’m wearing leggings and trainers out and about, I’m not really thinking about about fashion and how to elongate my legs.

Sadly, I can see this thread turning into the usual fat-bashing.

Black which I ware over black legging if it's really cold.

If you don't like it, don't do it.

Others may like it, or not care.
