Been a total hypocrite with my family and told them not to touch any of the ‘Christmas food’..I can take or leave the chocolates, cakes, Pringles..but everyone is out and i’m sat by the fire, candles, film on and a biggg plate full of assorted cheese and crackers/biscuits

God, I LOVE cheese 🧀

My Tesco order was due today and they emailed beforehand to say all the cheese I'd ordered was unavailable! So of course I stocked up while in Marks... only to find that the email was wrong, all the cheese was there. So I've double Christmas cheese to get through. Am sure I'll manage somehow...

Stopeatingwoman · 23/12/2024 20:11

You poor thing. Are you okay? Do you need some supportive crackers sent?

therewasafishinthepercolator · 23/12/2024 20:12

Double cheese?? Its a Christmas miracle! 🥰😁

I can come and help you if you can’t manage.

I bought more crackers to cope with this terrible, terrible Christmas Cheese crisis. Might need a bit more relish...

Still found myself standing in front of a half price cheeseboard in local shop earlier wondering if I needed it...

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 23/12/2024 20:16

Do you have the pickled cabbage, pickled onions, the hummus, the olives, the chutneys of varying flavours? That was my dinner yesterday and it was delicious.

therewasafishinthepercolator · 23/12/2024 20:17

I've eaten half the vintage cheddar, red fox, red Leicester and chive, wenslydale but DD19 has forbade me opening the little goats cheese with tiny flowers without her.

No stinky cheeses allowed after last year's fridge odour debacle. Keeping it simple this year. Except the flower cheese. That's a bit fancy.

😂😂😂 this cheese party for one sounds idyllic 🧀

Happy Christmas 🎄

  • Wensleydale. I beg your pardon.
NewMe2024 · 23/12/2024 20:18

So relatable, though for me it’s chocolate. I’ve had to put chocolate gifts for family in the car boot three days early so I don’t eat it!

Perplexed20 · 23/12/2024 20:18

What was on your plate?

Chocolately · 23/12/2024 20:18
  1. It's christmas.
  1. It's cheese.
  1. YADNBU.
  1. You can freeze some cheeses, you know. Definitely cheddar and hard cheeses, not so sure about softer ones. 🤔
OctopusSexArm · 23/12/2024 20:19

Due to poor planning I have not managed to buy all the cheese I wanted this year 😭
I only have
Brie (2 kinds)
Somerset blue
Boursin
Cornish crackler
Wensleydale

This is not enough cheese
Please donate all unwanted cheeses to my cause

(At least I have decent Wensleydale.

My absolute favourite Christmas treat is Wensleydale, Christmas cake and port eaten in front of a good ghost story.)

Perplexed20 · 23/12/2024 20:25

I took two buses today (car isxwaiting to be fixed ' garage shut for christmas) from the village (had to coordinate the1 bus an hour with the other 1 bus an hour) to go to a cheese shop.
I got a Cheshire, red leicester, a fancy goat, roquefort and a baron bigod, plus a morbiere.

LittleSF · 23/12/2024 20:26

@BIossomtoes I'm soldiering on somehow... think I'll make it

I'm seriously thinking of going back tomorrow to local shop... their €12 cheeseboard is now two for €8. It would be rude not to buy it.

Same. Yesterday it was baked Camembert with some lovely olive bread. Nice bit of pate. Port for him and indecent level of chocolate Baileys for me whilst watching the original “Whistle and I’ll come to You” - one of my favourite ghost stories.

Same @Stopeatingwoman same!! Did the shop today and bought a heinous amount of cheese. And some super fancy crackers. Condiments at the ready. I shamefully encouraged DH to go sleep off his crippler of a hangover whilst I did bedtime routine for DC. Little does he know it's because I'm absolutely 1 million per cent going to enjoy a secret cheeseboard for one ligged out on the sofa once the house is silent. Now that's what I call Christmas!

FfsNotNow · 23/12/2024 20:35

We bought SIL a Cheese box for Christmas - and one for ourselves. Only to find that she has also bought one for us as well, delivered Friday. Then yesterday my DB messaged to say he has also bought us a cheese box to be delivered tomorrow. ALL THE CHEESE.

I have to tell you this is my dream scenario

GuffyTheDustBuster · 23/12/2024 21:23

I cba to cook last night. We started the Christmas Cheese.... 3 of us hoovered up the smoked brie. No evidence. The in-laws don't need to know...
