Been a total hypocrite with my family and told them not to touch any of the ‘Christmas food’..I can take or leave the chocolates, cakes, Pringles..but everyone is out and i’m sat by the fire, candles, film on and a biggg plate full of assorted cheese and crackers/biscuits

God, I LOVE cheese 🧀

Quality control. It's a vital function, someone has to do it.

My Tesco order was due today and they emailed beforehand to say all the cheese I'd ordered was unavailable! So of course I stocked up while in Marks... only to find that the email was wrong, all the cheese was there. So I've double Christmas cheese to get through. Am sure I'll manage somehow...

Hopefully the Tesco cheese will be free?

I went to super special “proper” cheesemonger to buy a gift card for my nephew but oops somehow ended up buying some Stilton, a big wodge of ash-covered goat’s cheese and a nice slab of Gruyère for myself and DH. Also two packs of posh crackers, two chutneys and a jar of pickled onions. That’s tomorrow’s dinner taken care of. Cannot wait.

Orangebadger · 23/12/2024 21:47

I forgot to order Stilton! Now a dash to shops tomorrow! Cannot possibly have Christmas without it!

Enko · 23/12/2024 21:47

Reminded me of this.

Damn you christmas cheese…!

Christmas Eve. Baked Camembert. Christmas Day. Cheese board. As my girls are getting older we are getting more adventurous with the cheeses 👏. Exciting times considering at one point their diets were very restricted!
Also been requested to make cheese fondue this holiday.
All the cheese in this house 🎉🥂

We’ve spent a stupid amount on Cheese. About 1/3 of our Christmas spend.

We’ve already eaten most of it so we didn’t have to share it.

We’ve got a lot of omeprazole.

This video is what you need OP. A whole improvised song about cheese

Blueuggboots · 23/12/2024 22:14

My MIL (who lives with us) tried to inform me that the 5 very small pieces of cheese we already had were sufficient for Christmas....I laughed in her face....🤓

Silvertulips · 23/12/2024 22:15

You can freeze some cheeses

You mean you have left overs?

There are indeed. Best Christmas present ever 😀

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/12/2024 22:37

We’ve been eating cheese steadily since work and school finished for us on Friday. The trick is to get plenty of cheese then you don’t have to save it.

2025willbemytime · 23/12/2024 22:39

This year I feel I've planned less and bought less. I was fine with that. Until I realised it included cheese. Can I go shopping tomorrow to get some??

FartyAnimal · 23/12/2024 22:41

There is a cheese vending machine near my house, 'just in case'!

Tortielady · 23/12/2024 22:45

I've got Harrogate Blue, Roquefort, Cheshire, Wensleydale, Cheddar, (especially Black Bomber) Red Storm (from Snowdonia Cheese Company, same as the Black Bomber, Green Thunder (ditto) white Stilton and a tub of Paysen Breton soft cheese and they're the ones I can remember. We shopped in York last week and went to the Christmas market as well as a stall in the Shambles market and not everything is labelled.

I know that the scales will scream for mercy come January and I'll blame the chocolates, the mince pies, the Pringles etc, but not the cheese. I never regret eating too much cheese and I'm not sure the concept even exists 😋

If you’re in Yorkshire and have failed to buy Lemon Crumble and Rockstar you should be ashamed of yourself!

slightlydistrac · 23/12/2024 22:54

I want cheese now. All the cheese.

Rock Star is nice and I wouldn't turn it down if I was offered some, but Black Bomber is the King of Cheddars IMPO. What's Lemon Crumble?
