Are there any conspiracy theories you believe in?

Inspired by another thread

I find conspiracy theories really interesting. I have never ‘believed’ any of them, more enjoy discussing them and how likely it seems that they could be true. I also think it’s more far fetched to believe that everything we have ever been told or ever will be told is the whole truth.

Are there any CTs you believe in? Lead me down a rabbit hole please!

Golden rules. 1.Think critically. 2. Remain sceptical. 3. Don’t trust newspapers. 4. Collect data for yourself, if possible. 5. Keep Occam’s Razor handy and sharp. 6. Ask cui bono? 7. There are a lot of very stupid/uneducated people out there, don’t follow the crowd.

I always think of Hilary Mantel: "Who is telling me this and why does he want me to believe it?"

Ytcsghisn · 22/12/2024 21:55

oh dear. Are you the type of person who takes everything literally. Like jumping off a cliff when someone says ‘break a leg’.

And taking asset price inflation to mean that the big bad secret service people are coming to take your house off you tomorrow.

What on earth are you on about. Answer the question or move on with your potty theories.

Covid came from a lab.

I believe this to be true.

Tracystubbs · 22/12/2024 21:59

I know someone who claims to have been in prison with Fred West(I know he's telling the truth about being in prison around the same time-ive taken the rest with a healthy pinch of salt)

He swore that Fred didn't kill himself-it was an inside job-a set of screws did it,set it up to make it look like fred did it and the rest turned a blind eye

It was an open secret in the prison at the time apparently and the screws that finished him off where admired by the cons

There was a plot to do rose in too but that would have been too obvious (he seemed to think it was a 'one or the other' and Fred got the short straw)

I have no idea if it's true, but it would be an certain irony if it was

Either way it doesn't really matter-what they did was beyond evil

I think you're the idiot here, who has been duped by the mega rich fossil fuel industry.

No doubt you'd have believed tobacco-industry-funded efforts to downplay the harmfulness of cigarettes, blaming the hysteria on the nicotine patch industry.

Basically all attempts at questioning or disproving man made climate change have come from the fossil fuel industry - and you've lapped up the propaganda.

Both can be true @ThisCosyAquaHiker. The fossil fuel giants discredit climate change because they want to profit as much as possible from the status quo. By investing in alternative energy, they control the competition and also the timeline of any changes. Shell invested $8 billion in renewables in 2022, it's one of the world's leading investors in the sector and is continuing with this strategy.

So how are they going to take my home from me? Which is what my ex adamantly claimed?

Are they bringing in digital ID?
Could that lead to a Chinese- style Social Credit System?
Are they trying to get farmers to sell/lose their agricultural land?
Did they try and bring in vax passports?
Are they getting people to start sharing cars with neighbours instead of owning their own car?

Any or all of things could be the potential start of narrowing down people’s sovereign rights to remain free and independent.

Moonfasa100 · 22/12/2024 22:03

I think that Diana was killed.

Apparently a man in the CIA has said that she was killed off.

The moon landing, none of the maths adds up and we really didn't have that level of technology at the time.

I totally understand the logic here, but I can't help thinking that because there were so many people involved in the moon landing, wouldn't someone have blabbed by now, after all these years?

StarDolphins · 22/12/2024 22:03

Deadlykitten · 22/12/2024 21:55

What conspiracy theory are you suggesting I believe in? I didn’t make any claims? I think you’re confused.

That my ex is correct in saying we’ll own nothing. YOU said he isn’t making this up. I think he is.

xyz111 · 22/12/2024 22:05

I was reading today about Dyatlov Pass. I don't think I believe the official version, especially as it was in Russia!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DyatlovPasss_incident

Dymaxion · 22/12/2024 22:06

I don't believe any conspiracy theories. I do believe that quite a lot of things can be explained away by good old fashioned ineptitude/human error, even if no-one is prepared to admit to it !

So how exactly would this impact my home ownership & mean that my outright owned home would become a government owned home? It doesn’t make sense!

I definitely think a conspiracy theory website has been tipped off. Too many strange folk
on here in the last hour🤔

@RodLiddle

"Covid was real but Gov took the opportunity to see how far they could push us and found it so easy so took the piss"

Which "Gov"? Every one in the world?

No, mostly our government. Not many other governments chose to frighten their citizens into obedience, as much as ours did. Others had stricter lockdowns, but they didn't make a point of deliberately "frightening the pants off the public" to gain their compliance. We were described as "the most frightened nation on earth". We also probably had some of the most absurd roolz as well, which the powers that be knew were bollocks, which was why they didn't obey them.

😲 I'm ashamed to say I didn't know about these! Thanks. Going to read on NASA.

Kago2790 · 22/12/2024 22:07

The Trump assassination attempt but Is that even a conspiracy. Seems quite widely accepted. Worked for him though.

JudgeJ · 22/12/2024 22:08

Gogogoquietly · 22/12/2024 19:53

Oh, for sure. I don't totally believe many high profile assassinations were actually carried out by the person convicted. And almost certainly not acting alone or for the reasons that were reported.

An acquaintance of my late husband was in Dallas on business on the day of the assassination and he said that stories about it being a government cover-up were flying around from the start.

Also, you’re not answering my very clear question. Instead, you’re pushing your own ridiculous beliefs.

wintertumm · 22/12/2024 19:12

Why would they murder her though?

They didn’t. It’s hogwash.
I don’t even think it was suicide.
I honestly have always thought Marilyn took an accidental overdose, which is easy to do when you’re taking the barbiturates she was taking.
Imagine being painted with that inaccurate broad brush for perpetuity.

Mountainhowl · 22/12/2024 22:12

Why does everyone say we never went back to the moon? There were 11 more moon landings after the first one!

It's incredibly expensive, we got what we wanted from going the times that we did, there hasn't been enough political will to do it again at such a cost.

There are mirrors and other artifacts that we put on the moon, we brought moon rocks back to earth. We definately went, the Russians would have disproved it years ago if it wasn't true

Moonfasa100 · 22/12/2024 22:12

Tangfastic71 · 22/12/2024 22:09

Apparently? Where did you hear that then?

It was reported online.

As we don't know what's true and what's not online, I don't knownif it's definitely true.

But it was widely reported online at the time.

Another poster on this thread has also mentioned the CIA man.

Did you hear about it at the time?
