Weeing in front of baby

My husband said he has a stand up wee in front of our baby. Am I being unreasonable for telling him not to?

People might disagree but wait till baby is crawling 😂 I can’t have a wee without him being there in the bathroom! He sits and watches my husband through the shower screen every morning.

Honestly I have done a wee while holding my 8mo.

IVFmumoftwo · 20/12/2024 17:05

What is the issue?? Will your husband never get naked in front of your child?

How is he ever going to take baby then child anywhere if he can't wee?! They'll need to go in the same cubicle for years.

Floralnomad · 20/12/2024 17:06

So what ?

Simonjt · 20/12/2024 17:06

As long as he didn’t use the baby as a urinal its fine, if you don’t want to wee in front of the baby thats fine, but it doesn’t mean you get a say over what the other parent does.

user2848502016 · 20/12/2024 17:07

Don't be ridiculous!
In fact once you get to potty training stage most books will tell you to have a wee in front of your toddler so they learn it's normal

MissyB1 · 20/12/2024 17:07

Err... So what??

Stickortwigs · 20/12/2024 17:07

Maddest thread on mumsnet for a long while.

doodleschnoodle · 20/12/2024 17:08

Eh? 😂😂

Hoppinggreen · 20/12/2024 17:08

Is his aim so bad its a concern?

UpUpUpU · 20/12/2024 17:09

You could not be more unreasonable!

kids learn from watching adults, weeing is very normal and if anything like my kid, you’d never get to go unless you don’t mind being watched 😂

vodkaredbullgirl · 20/12/2024 17:10

Wtf

AbigailsPartyFrock · 20/12/2024 17:10

Will you drip-feed that the “baby” is 241 months old?

BestZebbie · 20/12/2024 17:10

If the actual issue here is that your baby is a girl and you don't want her to know that penises exist, surely a stand-up wee is better (as presumably he kept his trousers on) than a sit-down where clothing has to be fully pulled down?

Quite so.
Presumably you're not going to refuse to have a wee or deal with tampons/pads with your baby/small child present?

Hollietree · 20/12/2024 17:11

We never shut the bathroom doors in our house, so my children regularly see me and my husband naked in the shower or taking a pee! They are 7-13. They don’t bat an eyelid.

Also your husband will regularly have to take your child into men’s public toilets. They will see complete strangers peeing in urinals.

If you don’t make it a big deal then it isn’t a big deal.

SnowLeopard5 · 20/12/2024 17:11

I don't understand

biscuitsandbooks · 20/12/2024 17:11

Why on earth would it be a problem? Confused

Moveoverdarlin · 20/12/2024 17:12

My children are 7 and 8, I don’t think my DH or I have done a wee in the bathroom in private in all that time. Even if I close the door I seem to needed at the exact point I plonk my backside on the toilet seat.

mynameiscalypso · 20/12/2024 17:12

I don't understand why this is an issue. My 5 year old regularly joins me in the toilet.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 20/12/2024 17:12

Yes, you are unreasonable.

Wait till they can toddle about, you'll never get a minutes peace in the bathroom ever again!!

randomchap · 20/12/2024 17:12

Could you explain your concerns? I can't see how it's an issue

I don’t predict there will be.
