This case is just beyond the realms of horrifying,

This poor child.

The children's commissioner was calling for a register of home schooled children, which seems mad that there isn't one already.

I honestly think that we should reintroduce hanging for some crimes. I would happily put the noose around his neck myself.

Honestly, what is the point of these cunts existing. There is none. They are utter scum.

Lighteningstrikes · 11/12/2024 23:31

Catastrophic errors all round.

No one’s mentioning the school. Why didn’t they do a follow up?

It’s no good that headteacher crying over spilt milk now. The writing was on the wall.

All too little too late.

Resources are so poorly used.

Attendance officers sending letters and chasing parents with genuinely unwell children, being spread thinly rather than concentrating on children in need.

Social workers with unbelievably large caseloads but actually ‘working with’ families where there is zero hope of improvement.

Abusive (mostly) men allowed to constantly drag their exes through court for access they don’t deserve - imagine if they just said ‘no - you have DV convictions and abused your family - no access’

You will never convince me an
abusive parent should ever have access to their child.

Totally this.

BeSnappyOtter · 11/12/2024 23:36

I hope everyone in the prison is informed of the details.

bluewanda · 11/12/2024 23:42

Why the fuck are these people not held accountable?!!

For the second time since Sara was born, social services became involved, this time in assessing who she should live with. Despite Sharif's previous history of violence, a social worker recommended that Sara and "U" should move back in with him.

In October 2019, Guildford's family court agreed that Sara should return to live with her father and Batool, her new stepmother.
The judge who made the decision was the same one who had been involved in the hearings from 2013 to 2015, and was aware of all the previous allegations.

bluewanda · 11/12/2024 23:46

The school was worried enough that they referred the incident to social services. For the third time, Surrey County Council's children services became involved in Sara's case. After a six-day investigation, the council told the school no further action was being taken, but asked the school to "monitor" the situation. This was despite the council knowing the long history of allegations of violence in the family, and the involvement of the police as far back as 2010.

The school reported their concerns multiple times. And reported that she had been withdrawn from them.

The school in this case absolutely appear to have done everything correctly.

Social services have failed.

their response to the school reporting facial bruising - in a child who was on the radar or SS before she was born, had previously been in care and was in the care of a father with a history of domestic violence - was to have the school keep an eye on her…

This isn’t on the school.

Ohnobackagain · 11/12/2024 23:50

Seeing the footage of her singing and playing the guitar. Poor little thing. And the stepmum messaging someone the first time saying the Dad had beaten the crap out of her. Just what is wrong with these people? She wasn’t with her own Mum because of allegations made that she wasn’t safe with her either. It’s just so so sad. Cricket bat and a steel pole. Unbelievable.

Kibble29 · 11/12/2024 23:53

Honestly, just take them outside and let them swing by their necks in public.

OrnithCheeseatron · 11/12/2024 23:55

The singing and playing the guitar had me in tears. I'm so sorry little one. Please rest in peace.
After baby P, how is this still happening?

bluewanda · 11/12/2024 23:55

Nobody from social services or the family courts who was involved in this case should be allowed to keep their jobs. They are fucking incompetent and cannot possibly be trusted not to put other vulnerable children in mortal danger.

OrnithCheeseatron · 12/12/2024 00:07

Courts need to acknowledge their hand in this, I've seen it when an abuser convincinces a court a child is better off with the abuser rather than a struggling mother (usually at the hand of her abuser).
Come on court system, see these men for what they are.

Kibble29 · 12/12/2024 00:20

Kids have been dying s a result of incompetent services for years. Victoria Climbie, Baby P, Arthur Labinjo-Hughes (have you heard the audio of that child crying that nobody loves him, nobody will feed him?), Liam Fee (a toddler in Scotland who was tied up in a dark room full of snakes and rats until his own mother murdered him)…that’s just off the top of my head.

We’ll all be appalled, someone in a suit will talk about “lessons being learned” and we can all wait until the next headline comes along.

Just rinse and repeat.

Fucking despicable that this keeps happening. I’d fully support the death penalty in these cases because it’s clear that life in prison doesn’t deter these subhuman pieces of shit who do this. Liam Fee’s mother was even found to have googled whether you can share a cell with your wife in prison.

Give your kiddies a bigger cuddle tomorrow, ladies. And never ever hesitate to raise the alarm if you see a child in any kind of danger at home.

HorsellNotWoking · 12/12/2024 05:35

Rachael Wardell, The Executive Director of Children's Services In Surrey, has released a statement saying:
“This means that until the independent safeguarding review concludes, a complete picture cannot be understood or commented upon. What is clear from the evidence we’ve heard in court is that the perpetrators went to extreme lengths to conceal the truth from everyone".

Bruises were spotted and reported, the family was knownby SS, but there is no apology in that statement.

Rachael Wardell has just been awarded with an OBE.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 13/11/2024 13:09

I don't agree with the death penalty. This evil man needs to be made to live with the horror of what he has done, and really made to face up to the reality of it. Killing him would relieve him of the guilt that he should have to live with.

The other adults are equally culpable in my view. Whether they perpetrated the violence or not is irrelevant. They let it happen and they all have blood on their hands.

That poor child and her poor siblings.

A man like that has utterly no conscious and will never feel remorse and guilt like a normal human being. Has he not demonstrated this enough for you?

She died in August, school wouldn't have 'protected' her.
It's a total failure by Surrey Children's services.
We got investigated several times over very dubious reasons by them and it always took more then 6 days.
My friend is on S47 for neglect, for trying to get her SEN child an education. It's totaly ridiculous, the little resources they have is spent hounding middle class parents, whilst not wanting to get involved with cases that give them grief.
Another of my friends was also on s47 because she is bit of a hoarder. Also neglect. Yes, she needs major declutter, but kids are loved and safe.

Btw, was there more than one older sibling?
DM refers to Z and U. I gather U is the teen who we heard of (the one txt friend saying she passed away) but who is Z?

RW has presided, together with her predecessor over cuts to children SEN services that now means that hundreds of kids I know are home educated because of no choice. Mine included.

Villagetoraiseachild · 12/12/2024 08:08

Still asking, what is being done to help Sara's poor traumatized siblings?
Just dumped in Pakistan?

From mail: Despite previous allegations of Sharif’s violence, a social worker made the fateful recommendation that Sara and U should move back in with him. And in October 2019, that decision was ratified when a judge at Guildford Family Court in Surrey agreed that Sara should live with her father and Batool, her new stepmother.

Who was the judge? Any potential bias? And who were the social workers closing the case? Heads must roll surely?

Rachel seems quite unpopular in Surrey, I wonder why and what the back story is.

I'd also love to know how she climbed up that ladder and what her professional background is that led her to this very senior role. State school or privately educated? Which university? There is this too

Interesting.

Wondering if there is a scandal around some of the individuals in high positions here and what exactly those systemic failures were. What was the culture like?

Does anyone know what the sentencing guidelines are for "causing or allowing the death of a child" I know there's "bands" of sentences that the judges have to work within depending on the offence.

The maximum sentence is life imprisonment (fairly recent change to allow that). The range of sentencing is 1-18 years depending on levels of culpability and harm. Malik did nothing to stop prolonged horrendous abuse leading to Sara's death so I imagine (hope) the sentence will be at the longer end of the range.
I also think the prosecution will be asking for whole life orders for Sharif and Batool. Murder with sadistic content is an automatic whole life order in the sentencing guidelines. If not whole life, a very long minimum term

Traumatised, and potentially having been abused themselves? A time line in either this thread or another one about the same subject, has reports of a child (but not Sara, potentially her older brother) being burned by a BBQ or iron in the father's care.

I literally can not imagine how awful it is for them.

Bad culture all around! Make parents go for endless appeals (5 here), if they don't give up and/or write complaints, dump them with safeguarding over dubious things (4 or 5 here) and clearly a systemic issue so much you could hear social worker sigh.
Then even upon winning over all that you end up home educating as not really any suitable school.
Worst thing is that my child was 'on roll' and not attending for 3 years, because of tribunal (zero education provided) and no one checked on my child once.
But the minute we home educated, they are over us, like a rash.
That's all before you consider a massive school trauma my child has.

The previous guy in charge died and he was slightly better, you could email concern to the top. Not with RW, she passes it straight down, without ever getting involved.
And their complaint dept is a joke, complaint gets passed to dept you are complaining about, who then make up some nonsense.
