AIBU to think that if you're in police custody you shouldn't be able to get out of the car?

Thinking of the awful news today about a 17 year old girl being transported who got out of the police car on the M5 and died 😓. Aren't those cars fitted with child locks?

I see the 2 officers that were with her on the motorway have been given misconduct notices.
"Tamzin Hall was being taken to custody on the night of November 11 when officers pulled over for "safety reasons", the IOPC said, adding she had been handcuffed with her hands in front of her and had an officer sat beside her.
She fled the stationary marked police car on the northbound carriageway and died after being hit by a car on the southbound carriageway."

It's better to support wild allegations with some facts or risk losing the respect of those you are engaging with.

"She fled the stationary marked police car on the northbound carriageway and died after being hit by a car on the southbound carriageway"

This is something that wasn't highlighted before.

So, it's not the case that she got out of the car and was unfortunately hit by another, passing, vehicle.

She managed to get across the central reservation and onto the carriageway going in the opposite direction. It was there that she was hit by a car on the other side of the motorway.

So it appears that she was doing a runner, managed to hop over the central reservation and then got hit by a car on the other side of the road. That puts a rather different spin on things.

It was definitely mentioned in the local news. It’s a tragic thing to happen, Who knows why the police stopped, the distance between the two junctions isn’t far. I think they were midway between the junctions. So obviously an emergency happened inside the car,
