To take my DC with me into Anne Summers?

Serious question, regular poster with a name change as well.. it's a bit embarrassing, isn't it?

I want to buy a nice waspie, needed by tomorrow as we've got, erm, plans. It has to be a waspie as I'm trying to cover up my stretch marks and wobbly bits 😐

It's too late to order online. The only place I can think of on the high street for something like this is Anne Summers. (If you know of anywhere else please do reccomend)

The problem is I've got no way of offloading my DC (7 and 5) in order to go alone.

I'm considering just taking them with me, being as quick as possible and keeping them away from the adult only area, but is that unreasonable?

Would you judge somebody for going in with children?

You are going to look at underwear which is a perfectly normal garment. Not much different than taking them to look at M&S bras.

IDontHateRainbows · 08/11/2024 20:16

Just stay out of the kink section

Itisjustmyopinion · 08/11/2024 20:16

Yes a bit if I am honest. But also it’s not really that fair on the other customers who expect it to be an adult only space.

Moier · 08/11/2024 20:16

They sell sex toys in most supermarkets now.
Just tell them it's a clothes / underwear shop... like you say keep them away from Adult section.
I've always found the sales staff to be very helpful in there.

LeavesTrees · 08/11/2024 20:18

I would judge. I’ve been in them where they have been talking about vibrators in great detail. I also have images of them grabbing things and asking you what they are and what they are for!

Startingagainandagain · 08/11/2024 20:22

Inappropriate and would likely make other customers uncomfortable as well.

CrispyK · 08/11/2024 20:22

You know it’s unreasonable, that’s why you’re here!

Haveyouanyjam · 08/11/2024 20:22

Yes because they blatantly display costumes, crotchless underwear, sex accessories all over the shop not just in the 18+ bit and your DC are old enough to ask questions and the older one would surely know enough to know that’s not a normal
clothes shop. If they were under 5 I’d say fine, as it would be more funny than awkward if they asked questions you didn’t want to answer. May make other shoppers feel uncomfortable. Is there nowhere else you can buy one from? H&M or something?

It’s quite a bit different, actually.

This. People want to be able to wave dildos about without worrying about kids

Tink3rbell30 · 08/11/2024 20:24

Don't do this, it's not the place for children.

NinaLively · 08/11/2024 20:25

I used to work in Anne Summers and we only ever saw kids in there once in a blue moon. It's not very child friendly and the sex toys can be seen from a distance. Things like candy underwear, penis shaped sweets, playwear I'm boxes with very sexual photos of them not far from the entrance. I wouldn't to be honest.

Anonymousess · 08/11/2024 20:25

Maybe go straight to the till and ask them to fetch you something? You can usually see what stock stores have on the website.

SilverChampagne · 08/11/2024 20:26

How come you’ve got such urgent need for this at such short notice, op? 🤔

*Ann (my old boss would disown me 😅)

What's a Waspy?

Agreed. I wouldn't question someone with a young baby but definitely not a 5 and 7 year old.

Gemmawemma9 · 08/11/2024 20:27

YABU. Totally inappropriate for kids and completely different from M&S. I’m really open with my kids but this is a step too far. And not fair to other customers.

Amibeingabadmum · 08/11/2024 20:28

I've looked the websites of M&S, H&M, Primark, Matalan - no joy.

Are they just a bit old fashioned now, waspies, or just too 'racy' to display with regular underwear? Because it's so hard to find one to buy in person.

Gah. Just my luck

What's a Waspy?

Similar to a corset but less restrictive.

Why can’t the dress code for your plans tomorrow be changed, and your original plans be rescheduled until you have the right kit.

Curious why the plans are so entrenched they can’t be adapted

Believeinmarmite · 08/11/2024 20:29

Could you phone up and ask them if they have one and to put it to one side for you so you can dash in and out quickly without having to search for whatever a waspie is (genuinely no idea!)

Littlebitpsycho · 08/11/2024 20:32

Do they do click and collect? Still not ideal but just nipping in to grab a parcel is way better than wandering around the store

Amibeingabadmum · 08/11/2024 20:32

I didn't consider calling and seeing if they can put something aside for me from the website, that's a great idea. Thank you!

I honestly don't think your kids will have a clue, I'm sure 5 mins in Ann Summers won't scar them for life! I remember being at a festival with dps at age 10 and there was a sex show 🤣 Enjoy your weekend 😉
