To take my DC with me into Anne Summers?

Amibeingabadmum · 08/11/2024 20:10

Serious question, regular poster with a name change as well.. it's a bit embarrassing, isn't it?

I want to buy a nice waspie, needed by tomorrow as we've got, erm, plans. It has to be a waspie as I'm trying to cover up my stretch marks and wobbly bits 😐

It's too late to order online. The only place I can think of on the high street for something like this is Anne Summers. (If you know of anywhere else please do reccomend)

The problem is I've got no way of offloading my DC (7 and 5) in order to go alone.

I'm considering just taking them with me, being as quick as possible and keeping them away from the adult only area, but is that unreasonable?

Would you judge somebody for going in with children?

Don't sleep with someone if you have to cover up your perfectly natural body with something like that for them.
If its for you thats different

It's a bit of both tbh. I'm probably worrying over nothing I just don't feel completely comfortable with how I look and its been a long time since I've even entertained the idea of being intimate again.

I feel like such an idiot I wish I hadn't posted 😔

Just don't go into the vibrator section, it's normally separated

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/11/2024 20:51

Just checked out the website. 🫣
A visit with dc in tow would definitely lead to questions...

No it's not, there are even toys on the till and there's usually a stand full of random crap right next to the tills that is completely inappropriate, that an average 7 year old could definitely read.

namechangeGOT · 08/11/2024 20:53

@Amibeingabadmum

Ah love ignore the posts regarding the item you're wanting to buy. There's nothing wrong with it, there is nothing wrong with wanting to cover up bits of yourself you're not happy with or reduce your self confidence, it doesn't make whoever you're wanting to wear it with a shallow person and you're not a weirdo for wanting it quickly.

No, I wouldn't take my kids in Anne Summers, mainly because mine would wander off and be poking butt plugs. Have you a friend you could nip to the shops with who can stand outside while you nip in? I'd come with you and go and get it for you if I was anywhere near. I hope you have fun whatever your plans are.

You're not an idiot.

You are just a little anxious and not thinking straight.

If someone judges your body, they aren't the right person to sleep with.

Unless you were super deceptively, flattering clothes, they have a fair idea of your shape anyway. (PS- if these magic clothes existed, we would all be wearing them).

Relax, chill and enjoy yourself.

I worked in Ann Summers for 4 years and despite a lot of these comments it was soooo common for people to bring their children in when shopping. It never caused any problems and no one ever made any comments about it, you have to be 18+ to even go into the toy section and we just made sure that kids were properly supervised at all times.

GroovyChick87 · 08/11/2024 20:53

Have any of you actually been in an Ann Summers? It's a knickers and bra shop. The toys are in an enclosed section normally at the back. Obviously ideal to not have them with you but if you're in and out buying underwear, no big deal.

Unreasonableexpectation · 08/11/2024 20:54

Have you tried next online? For most things they do free next day delivery to the store if you order before midnight.

scotstars · 08/11/2024 20:55

You can get one on amazon next day delivery

Amibeingabadmum · 08/11/2024 20:55

I've asked MN to remove the post.

Whilst yes it's not an ideal place to take children some of you are carrying on like I was going in to show them porn. From what I've read children are permitted in the normal part with parents, I ascertained that much, but obviously there's the moral aspect.

I've had my DD with me when buying bras in M&S and it didn't feel a million miles away from that.

The underwear is at the front of the shop and the over 18s section is to the rear. Children cannot go in there. You need to pass the cash registers and sales assistants to even get near it.

Jesus christ I'm not going. Let's leave it at that.

Thank you so much for this. They've made me feel like some sort of deviant.

She's not buying knickers she wants some racy underwear.

You're not an idiot OP, and if you want to take your DC in with you, it wouldn't be an issue. The toys are usually in a different section, usually at the back of the store and unless you actually go in there, they won't see anything. At most they'll be intrigued by the strawberry or salted caramel lubes usually on offer near the tills.

And that's OK with you?? That they'd be interested in flavoured lube?

Racy?! I want something that covers half of my stomach not crotchless knickers. You see more flesh wearing a pair of granny pants and a bra 😂

MN have said they won't remove the thread but will move it to 30 days only for me so it drops off active discussions.

Don't feel bad for trying to work out how you can juggle planning for some perfectly normal adult needs at a later time alongside childcare. Not everyone has someone to hand to take the children and life goes on for you too.
Really you were being creative and thinking of you could multi task.
You're not an idiot.

Summerishere123 · 08/11/2024 21:09

Sit them just inside the door with a bag of sweets and be quick. No big deal!
