The M and S Sparks card?

girlfriend44 · 01/11/2024 17:15

What is the point of the card, other than them knowing what you buy and when?
I didn't use it today as I don't seem to get anything back?
It's not like you get money off and collect points is it?
Anyone enlighten me as to whether or not it's worth carrying on?
Does anyone benefit from theirs?😥

They do that lottery thing where you can get your shopping free

Yes, l was lucky enough to have that about two years ago. I had about £80 of goods, so was very pleased. It was the first time I had heard of it.

FrannieY · 01/11/2024 17:41

I really like it and it's free so worth keeping. I use the app, check offers before I shop there and regularly save money on food (inc sandwiches, sweets and steak), clothes (20% off jeans, shoes and nightwear and 15% off tops and packs of underwear etc) and there are also homeware and beauty offers. It adds up.

Another advantage is that it saves your receipts, both in-store and online, which makes refunds easy, no having to find paper receipts

I think it's rubbish. Spent '000's with them and don't even get money off like nectar. Don't use mine anymore. Love M&S but hate their sparks card. Pure rubbish

Exactly what I think and I have bern tempted on occasion to tell M&S what they can do with their store card but as they have conveniently removed their customer services email address I’ve been unable to. Not that it would probably make any difference.

hopeishere · 01/11/2024 17:43

I get the odd freebie and some discounts. I also have 15% off clothing at the minute.

It also creates a digital receipt which is really handy for returns.

I also use it for the scan and shop.

Plus I like the 12 days of Christmas thing!!

LizzieVeraker · 01/11/2024 17:46

They're pretty pointless, I sometimes just say I don't have one.

Floralnomad · 01/11/2024 17:47

I get the odd freebie and discount and need it to use the scan and shop which I use .

KnottedTwine · 01/11/2024 17:48

They donate a % of your spend to charity. Mine is linked to Dementia UK and the app says they have raised £137,800 since June 2020 which is not to be sniffed at.

You get a free coffee after you have bought 5 or 6, and I have had some useful money off coupons and freebies.

At the end of the day though, they owe you nothing. If you think it's shit, don't use it, there is no compulsion to sign up or scan the app if you don't want to. It is costing you zero to have it on your phone.

MadisonAvenue · 01/11/2024 17:49

When I could use a % off clothing (like now), all I have is 10% off cleaning products, 10% off the instore bakery, 10% off fruit and veg and 10% off beef, pork and lamb.

Gazelda · 01/11/2024 17:49

I've just used sparks to get 15% off a dinner service I was planning to buy. I'm delighted!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/11/2024 17:52

I must have told them my birthday was this week (was it launched in October? My birthday is February) and got a free box of chocolate truffles today. Annoyed to see 20% off bedding when I click and collected a load of brushed cotton bedding last week.

Dr13Hadley · 01/11/2024 17:52

Thanks for reminding me I had a Sparks card OP. I just went on the app and I've got £10 off clothing, home and beauty as it's my birthday this month!
I hardly ever look at it as it's never seemed to have anything relevant to me. Off to buy super thick black tights now 🤣

It just irks me that when I shop regularly at Tesco I get without fail offers and vouchers for money off as rewards but with the M&S Sparks despite spending £100+ there most weeks, apart from a measly 50p off here and there I get nothing back at all. It’s like they don’t value your custom.

ElaborateCushion · 01/11/2024 17:55

I used to think it was stupid, then I got my shopping for free!

OK, so I'd only popped in to do a top up shop that cost me £25, but it was still a free shop!

I do use the vouchers for money off clothes, etc, if I see them.

I never even bother with mine. Worst store card ever.

Agree. Pointless.

Topseyt123 · 01/11/2024 18:01

It doesn't seem like the greatest of loyalty cards, I agree. I've yet to see any real benefit or advantage from mine.

Then why are you using it at all? Allowing the company to track your purchases with no benefit to you at all?

Poggishairtufts · 01/11/2024 18:04

Absolutely useless and not worth the space it takes up on my phone

EmmaMorleysboots · 01/11/2024 18:09

Sparks Card doesn’t seem to scan on self serve tills with Apple Wallet. Steals my time standing there trying to get it to scan with impatient small children and have never gotten anything back so decided today that would never bother again unless it changed to points!

JennySayQuoi · 01/11/2024 18:10

No use whatsoever, stopped using it years ago. Last time I was asked by cashier, I said "No because it's sh*t" and she agreed with me!

Phase2 · 01/11/2024 18:19

It's really rubbish. I agree with a po they the offers are usually things you've bought.
But useless cards would include Iceland, not a clue what that does.

Queenofkindle · 01/11/2024 18:21

Just looked and I can pick up a box of chocolate truffles as it’s my birthday month !

Sandwichgen · 01/11/2024 18:22

The things i 'won' in their advent thingy last year were out of stock.

I haven't had a 20% offer off anything useful like jeans or jumpers for years. I'm going to stop scanning it because I'm fairly sure the offers will improve if they think I've stopped shopping there.

TheFormidableMrsC · 01/11/2024 18:22

I get some decent offers weekly. Recently had 20% off beauty which was useful for Xmas gifts. I get some decent food offers too.

MrsRobert · 01/11/2024 18:26

I use my Lidl app all the time for the freebies but never bother scanning my M&S card. I'm not going to let them track my purchases unless they give me something decent.

TheStarsLookVeryDifferentToday · 01/11/2024 18:26

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 01/11/2024 17:23

IME they give you an offer of money off an item when you have just bought said item. I bought a small suitcase a couple of weeks ago and sure enough my latest Sparks offer gives me 20% off luggage. 🤬

Same, I bought socks last month and a couple of days later got a Sparks offer of money off socks.
