I will never watch his programme again. What a threat. But seriously, he really gives me the ick. I have heard so many tales of his womanising. He just feels stuck in the 2000s. AIBU to ask which celebrities you think have had their day? Zoe Ball (too 90's and eager), Tess Daly (stiff and odd), Claudia Winkleman (obvious and boring), or is it just me?

A quick 'lug' of olive oil - as he pours in 3 quid's worth...

I stopped taking Jamie Oliver seriously after seeing him sing along to a live cooking demo he did. And then advertise where you could buy the mp3 of the song. I nearly cringed myself inside out, it was SO BAD.

username35890 · 21/10/2024 20:53

I've never been a fan but love Claudia Winkleman.

Hatty65 · 21/10/2024 20:59

I usually love Jamie, but I turned off tonight when he's demonstrating how to cook a massive piece of lamb shoulder that is so far out of my budget that it pissed me off.

Seriously, Jamie. If you are doing a show called 'Fast and Simple' to show folks how to whip up decent, quick dinners for the family at least show some awareness of what most folks can also AFFORD to eat.

Onthecarpet2002 · 21/10/2024 21:04

Jamie Oliver a womaniser? & cheat too? I never heard those tales! Thought he was a wholesome family man, 100% out of touch with what most people can afford to eat. And 30 miniute meals? Don't make me laugh, that's a lie too by the time you've chopped everything,

Nomither · 21/10/2024 21:20

@MidnightBlossom how weird! I just can't imagine anyone buying that MP3 🤣

But seriously, he's all about cheap and cheerful food and then slaps a shoulder of lamb in. It's more unrealistic than Nigella, and she is in Nigella Land. I feel that he's just desperate now to maximise his pension despite the embarrassment of his restaurants closing and the shocking stories about the way he treats his wife.

He should have stopped at 15!

More like 30 min meals plus an hour of clearing up the numerous pots and pans 🙄

He's one I absolutely detest. My all time favourite was him going through 'his' kitchen garden and getting basic bloody herbs wrong. Twat.

Hatty65 · 21/10/2024 21:26

@Nomither I think you are mistaken about the cheating and womanising! They've been together since their teens, and she has admitted being jealous and constantly checking his phone, etc for cheating. But it's clear he's just a workaholic rather than anything else.

MinnieCauldwell · 21/10/2024 21:32

He got lucky in the 90s during the filming of a documemtary about the River Cafe, if not for that, I don't think we would have heard of him. Never really rated any of his recipes, they seem so poorly thought out.

Iclyn · 21/10/2024 22:01

Look up Spains Hall in Essex , that's their home !

MumOfOneAllAlone · 22/10/2024 07:05

I've still not gotten over him taking away my turkey twizzlers, no matter how unhealthy they were 😒😒, awful man

I have a friend who works at ch 4 and there was a ongoing issue about him wanting women to assist within his test kitchen/running/being his PA.

That would annoy me. Also when he gets Genaro to do bits and bats, really boring.

Each to their own. I got put off when I listened to her on the Off Menu podcast- she never ever drinks water. I think the people she works with must be retching at her breath.

I've always quite liked him, but how a massive lamb shoulder that then needs 5 hours in the oven is fast or realistic for most people is ridiculous. He did say at the end it would be good for a dinner party which I guess is fair enough but it was in no way a quick meal!

Is that the ooh lamb curry, give it to me HOT! one?
where he puts on that fake patois? It’s so so cringe, awful 😣

justbeingasmartarse · 22/10/2024 08:02

I’ve always thought Jamie was a wanker tbh though I do respect the work he did promoting healthy school dinners and ministry of food

cookiebee · 22/10/2024 08:03

Also got very irritated by his whole Italian phase, I just want him to stop saying Nonna! He would cook with these Italian Nans, who wouldn’t have a clue who this twat was and why he was making bad versions of their food in their kitchens. He then set up his authentic Italian restaurants in the uk which if anyone ever went in one served okish food but also doubled as a bloody shop selling his books and food items, for all his mockney charms he is just basically selling at every opportunity!

Also I found his school dinner phase out of touch and patronising, he originated from a fairly middle class family as far as I could tell so had absolutely no idea of the struggles or the type of food working class families could afford or cook!

Fair play to him for trying though

LunaNorth · 22/10/2024 08:08

You can enjoy his children’s books now! He’s an author, don’t you know.

And the second generation of Olivers is revving up - one of his improbably-named sons has a cookery book out.

He’s the gift that keeps on selling.

FrenchandSaunders · 22/10/2024 08:14

I don’t mind him but me and DH shout at the tv when he covers everything in fecking lemon juice 😳

KimberleyClark · 22/10/2024 08:22

I hate how he repeatedly sticks his finger in the food to test it 🤮

Haha I also don’t mind him, but automatically halve the amount of lemon juice in his recipes.

Itsmychristmasdress · 22/10/2024 08:26

I don't mind him. Never ever read anything about womanising. I also think as a dyslexic man he is a good advocate. He speaks openly about feeling stupid most of his life and the support he wishes he had at school. I also admire his healthy school campaign.

I think you'd be better off at Tattle, where you can be as mean and snakey as you like.
