Pizza Hut Buffet

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:46

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

@Aito thank you ! I like to think I'm fairly normal. Not a filthy thieving scrounge as suggested on here! I do like to make a joke out of things. Anything really. So I think I have come across wrong to some !

What are your plans for the buffet?
Do you understand how what you were proposing is theft?

That's exactly what they would say which is why I recommend it.

JMSA · 14/10/2024 21:21

I wish I was the kind of adult who needed only one or two slices of pizza Blush
OP, don't be a party pooper! Starve yourself until you go and then eat with merriment and abandon Grin

zeitweilig · 14/10/2024 21:20

It's obvious what OP is doing.
Can you find her changed stance on stealing (pizza or cards) anywhere?

Yes. She changed her stance when she got a shower of YABU. She accepted her arse had been handed, then went on to have a laugh about it.

That's fairly standard stuff. I have zero idea why you're either so baffled, or angry about it. Would you prefer the OP to cry? Beg forgiveness?

Nobody has been flogged.
(Do you know what flogged means?)

I know exactly what flogging means in both a literal and metaphoric context and I think OP was flogged by the mumsnet trolls who would never speak to people in real life the way they do on here. I think a lot of people on here clearly have very little going on in their own lives and spend far too much time and energy trying to tear someone down over very trivial things and instead of constantly questioning OP they should look inwards.

I agree with OP it is a rip off for awful food and I also agree with the majority that she would have to pay if she does eat. I do think she's funny and has handled the onslaught admirably as it is clearly working. People are getting so worked up not only by OP but anyone showing her any support.

@zeitweilig

Read the comments and decide.

Have definitely decided you're totally barmy. Way too much investment in this.

Call me barmy all you like.
Tell me where OP has accepted that the origin plan is theft (as was taking extra cards)?

Tooposhtowashboard · 14/10/2024 21:24

Pizza Hut is 🤢. The buffet is terrible and a rip off. You are not missing out. Try to persuade them to go to Pizza Express.

JMSA · 14/10/2024 21:24

Oh and last time I treated myself to a Pizza Hut buffet - maybe a month ago - a member of staff was giving boxes to some young women who were standing at the buffet. So maybe it is possible to do it as a takeaway.

PrettyPickle · 14/10/2024 21:25

Yes, I know exactly what you mean - I was invited out to a BBQ place where they had a stuff your face buffet at £50 a head . There was no way I was going to eat £50's worth unlike the rest of them who are proper carnivores. It just wasn't value for money for me.

As other posters say, I would order a pizza to share.

However, when young, I took my nieces and nephew to Pizza Hut and even to this day, I cannot get over how much they ate, must have hollow legs!

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 21:25

@zeitweilig there's nothing to save myself for. Yes I was going to pinch a couple slices of pizza - no I won't be doing this upon further thought and input from others.
Yes, I'm going to reluctantly pay the price for both of us because my daughter is really looking forward to it. And I CAN afford it, but I do begrudge spending money on things for myself.

Yes I have scanned 2 cards through as one. Not a regular occurrence. Mostly during the holiday period.. when it is busy, when the self scan register keeps shouting at me to place the item in the bagging area.. when I already have, so I just add the other card to the bagging area so it will register, and then I can leave the shop at last.
(Not going around, black and white striped with a swag bag🤣)
No I don't plan on doing this as a weekend pastime.

She asked.
She defended herself.
She started to joke.

Nowhere has the stance changed.

I think OP was flogged by the mumsnet trolls who would never speak to people in real life the way they do on here.

What’s the point of using an anonymous forum if you want the sort of polite answers you’d get in a face to face conversation?

JMSA · 14/10/2024 21:26

viques · 14/10/2024 18:13

You aren’t missing out not having a Pizza Hut buffet, it’s a lot to pay to be exposed to other peoples revolting germs and questionable hygiene.

Oh, what fun!

That's not flogging.

Why on earth do you think the OP owes you this? She's taken her YABU and moved on. You should too.

It looks like you’ll only have to pay for yourself if it’s any time soon. Kids eat free.

A takeaway which you pay for maybe, not a freebie based on someone else paying.

yeaitsmeagain · 14/10/2024 21:28

IAKnowyou · 14/10/2024 17:50

Well that's rude 🤣 I can definitely afford to go, otherwise I wouldn't be going..
it's not embarrassing either. All I'd eat is a slice or 2 of pizza, and I don't think £15.99 is justifiable for that amount. But about say 5/6 slices between us is definitely more so the £11 mark.
How do they police this ? Do they have a staff member to watch each table ?? 😆

You'll be eating a lot more than a slice or two of pizza, the slices they serve at the buffet are about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of a regular slice.

You could load up on salad.

Probably also a good time to teach your kids that stealing is wrong regardless of the chances of being caught.

Chowtime · 14/10/2024 21:28

SometimesCalmPerson · 14/10/2024 17:53

It’s tacky to steal pizza at a child’s birthday, but you could probably get away with eating her crusts.

lol, some I know did that! I still judge them for it 20 years later😂

Same

Balloonhearts · 14/10/2024 21:28

I mean if I thought I'd get away with it then I would... 😆 but sadly you won't as they do keep an eye on anyone who says they're not eating to make sure you don't. My sister got told off there once for drinking some of her daughters bottomless Pepsi. They charged her for two of them. I wouldn't try it with the buffet, I'd feel a right scrounger if they called me out on it especially in a group with other parents.

Well thank goodness that’s been resolved 21 pages later 🤣. I had to top the bath up twice with hot water reading it all.
