To conclude a fun thread I started about ‘stunning’ men can we vote on the marvellous Mr Peck please. He was mentioned over and over and over again by so many of us. Understandably of course. Love to see if it’s ‘official’ 🤣.

I don't really know all these people so have been googling. I think I would be in the Paul Newman camp.

Wow Bideshi that must have been quite a gathering!

Op I think he was a beautiful man.

And totally off the point but I always much preferred Gene Kelly to Fred Astaire! Give me a manly man every time!

Gene Kelly was seriously sexy - could sing and dance athletically too.

I said the same yesterday op about gregory peck. I do like The Omen especially.

VaughanMorgan · 11/10/2024 19:06

He was beautiful imo. Seems to have been a decent man too, so far as I know. He died not long before I had my first child. If she'd been a boy I had Gregory picked out as a middle name.

Mirabai · 11/10/2024 19:15

Goodlooking but not as stunning as young Brando, Paul Newman, Cary Grant.

KillingMeDeftIy · 11/10/2024 18:09

How about Christopher Plummer as Captain Von Thirst Trapp?

I was going to nominate him too!!

tolerable · 11/10/2024 19:16

Paul newman-he even aged perfectly.
(thom feel bit weird cos my mum always refers to him as her beau)

Mirabai · 11/10/2024 19:17

Lentilweaver · 11/10/2024 18:22

ah the days when men didn't have man buns or facial hair.

Yes they had short back and sides and a smart suit.

OtherS · 11/10/2024 19:19

I think Brando probably just beats him for me, but it's very close. I know I'm the weirdo but I really don't get the Paul Newman thing! Yes to Gene Kelly though.

Frostine · 11/10/2024 19:20

Tony Curtis.

IMO Gene Kelly was much more handsome but Astaire was the better dancer. Oranges and apples though, they had different styles and there was more than enough space for them both.

gillybombilly · 11/10/2024 19:23

I’ll have a young Robert Redford please…

Mirabai · 11/10/2024 19:24

Fun fact: both Paul Newman and Tony Curtis were Hungarian Jewish.

Brando was gorgeous in Streetcar and it's hard to believe he was only 27 as he gave such an iconic performance. Sad to think how he ended up, considering how beautiful he was in his youth.

Lentilweaver · 11/10/2024 19:25

I find old wrinkly naturally aging Redford attractive too. Far more so than the plasticky men of today.

WingsofRain · 11/10/2024 19:26

No, absolutely not.

Inextremis · 11/10/2024 19:29

Marlon Brando, Yul Brynner for me.

This fine specimen trumps Peck in my opinion

CortieTat · 11/10/2024 19:34

My mum was a big fan of Yul Brynner and I think Steve McQueen was extremely attractive so we always liked watching The Magnificent Seven together.

One of my favourite films of all times is They Shoot Horses, Don’t They and I really liked Michael Sarrazin. My type.

AelitaQueenofMars · 11/10/2024 19:38

Bideshi · 11/10/2024 18:42

Nope. I met him at a party in about 1971 (George Weidenfeld's in Cheyne Walk). He was not young but spectacularly handsome still.

OMG…I want to hear more about this party!

usernother · 11/10/2024 19:38

Peck is a bit too pointy for me. I preferred Cary Grant and Henry Fonda.

feellikeanalien · 11/10/2024 19:39

Young Al Pacino does it for me.
