To conclude a fun thread I started about ‘stunning’ men can we vote on the marvellous Mr Peck please. He was mentioned over and over and over again by so many of us. Understandably of course. Love to see if it’s ‘official’ 🤣.

Gregory Peck is my no 1 swoon
If we’re talking vintage, also:
Richard Burton
Yul Brynner
Cary Grant

ah the days when men didn't have man buns or facial hair.

Nah..

Gian Maria Volonte. The maverick from the 'A Fistful of Dollars' trilogy.

Plus, there is a builder near the town of Banbury who is Gian's Doppelganger. I have seen him twice in the last 18 months. One at a sandwich shop, the other time in a gateway talking to a farmer.

I love the romantic comment that he made about why would he go out for a burger when he had steak at home. Fabulous actor & seriously gorgeous. Sounds like we may have the roots of a MN Paul Newman fan club here ladies. 😉

Edited

Ironically he didn't go out for burgers but he did go out for bacon - Nancy Bacon to be precise. He had other affairs too so sadly his words were (like a lot of men's) empty.

Love Charlton Heston in Ben Hur, with his chisel features. the chariot race, rippling muscles as a, galley slave seething with anger and hurt. Gorgussssss

magicstar1 · 11/10/2024 18:40

No, Elvis was the most gorgeous man in my opinion. Paul Newman and Marlon Brando we also just beautiful.
Gregory Peck was handsome, but I wouldn’t put him up there with the others.

Ketzele · 11/10/2024 18:40

Yes! He's the dog's bollocks

On screen yes but my godmother saw him at the races once years ago and said in real life he wasn't as good looking as she thought he would be, make up, clothing and lighting enhances

Nope. I met him at a party in about 1971 (George Weidenfeld's in Cheyne Walk). He was not young but spectacularly handsome still.

LorettyTen · 11/10/2024 18:44

Yes, without doubt

Wow Bideshi that must have been quite a gathering!

Op I think he was a beautiful man.

And totally off the point but I always much preferred Gene Kelly to Fred Astaire! Give me a manly man every time!

There's a moment in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" where, having been pursued high up into the mountains, Paul Newman insists their best option is to jump into the water below in order to escape - then Robert Redford admits he can't swim and Paul Newman laughs.... I have always thought in that moment, with his blue eyes shining and his wide smile and the laughter, PN the most handsome man that ever lived!

Oh yes! I watch it at least once a year!

A strangely uplifting film considering the subject matter!

Got a lot of love for Gregory Peck but Marlon Brando in A Street Car Named Desire….

herecomesautumn · 11/10/2024 18:50

Ooh yes PP. Gene Kelly. The lips

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/10/2024 18:50

Cary Grant was a good looking bloke (and from my home town).
George Clooney is his modern equivalent.

KillingMeDeftIy · 11/10/2024 18:09

How about Christopher Plummer as Captain Von Thirst Trapp?

Oh yes!

Resisterance · 11/10/2024 18:53

I had an inappropriate teenage crush on Dirk Bogarde many years ago before i realised he was gay..inappropriate because I'm about 50 years younger than him!

Moier · 11/10/2024 18:54

Paul Newman.
Especially in Cool Hand Luke.

I quite like young Frank Sinatra.

Beadley · 11/10/2024 18:57

I had to google Gregory Peck to remember what he looked like, and I thought I had mistyped his name as he is the spitting image of my grand-father when he was young, and a good likeness to my uncles on my mothers side.

Some-one mentioned Yul Brynner. Yes. I was about ten the first time I saw ‘The King and I’ and I’ve had a thing for him since. I dated a man that reminded me of him but I soon had to admit that the only things lovely about that man were his twinkly eyes and shiny head!

Gorgeous, yes - but Paul Newman is my fantasy lover. Or maybe Marlon Brando. 😍

Yes yes yes, Paul Newman 🥰

BBCK · 11/10/2024 18:58

I have had a crush on Gene Kelly for years

BBCK · 11/10/2024 18:59

I’ve also had a crush on Denzel Washington for years

Paul Newman for me too! I mean…… 🤤

He certainly looks like he could show you a good time.
