Things someone has done that suddenly made you weirdly attracted to them

I got to work this morning and I have a bit of equipment that I use that I always struggle setting up.

I turned up a bit early and put it on the table ready to set up. A guy I work with who honestly I have never really even liked as a person and am DEFINITELY not remotely
physically attracted to, picked it up off the table while we were all chatting before our shift, and wordlessly constructed it for me.

For a minute I thought he thought it was his and was very confused, but he handed it to me once done.

I cannot stress how much I am not attracted to this man but it was weirdly hot.

Please share your versions of this so I know I’m not a complete weirdo!

I got into a car with a man I'd never found attractive. The way he changed gear completely blew my mind. I have an automatic now, but for several years I tried to imitate his seductively smooth control. My non driving DH never even noticed.
But isn't it interesting how capable men become attractive when you reach a certain age? I just used to go for brown eyes and floppy dark hair even if they couldn't put up a shelf.

Living in America, in a slightly dodgy town but with nice parts - went to the naice supermarket which had people to bag your groceries. The young man who bagged my stuff up insisted on carrying to my car, put them on the back seat but then held my door open for me and I noticed he pressed the lock as he did it so that I was locked in. I thought it was cutely protective - found out later someone who looked liek me had been knifed earlier in the day on the other side of the car park. I was even more grateful for his protectiveness.

My db always says about my dh ' I'd want that man in my lifeboat ' because he is so competent and McGyverish!
What he can't fix, can't be fixed.
He also has wondrous forearms, and can drive a HGV, alas since he installed reversing cameras in the car, I have been denied the pleasure of watching him reverse the car.

I've got two examples:

A Christmas party 3 of us had to get to, long ago, in London on a filthy wet night with hardly any cabs to be seen. My friend's husband said "it's fine, follow me" and swept us through the Grosvenor Hotel to the back where there were loads of black cabs and we easily got one to take us to our venue. SWOON!

And the other is more recent; dh vacuuming the whole house and putting clean sheets on our bed on a Friday afternoon. Double swoon!

Dh had a good week end! 🫣😂

Oh and once I watched a woman fix a piece of equipment with such skill I instantly developed a crush on her that lasted years. I was in my late 20s and had not realised that I was bisexual before that moment.

Oh I've experienced this, a woman came in to give a talk about women in business and she was so effortlessly cool and exuded big boss vibes. I don't think I'd ever seen a woman so charismatic and commanding the room in the same relaxed way before. At the end quite a few of us admitted we had a big crush on her 😆

I love a good parallel park.

Oh my god, I really fancy my husband when he parallel parks. He does it with such ease. So hot! 😂

A man who can dance and actively wants to dance with you… pulling you close, swings you round with his hand controls the movements . Enjoys the actual dance and movement.. with sleeves rolled up and eyes on you….get me a room

My friends husband is like this, we all decided she had to marry him after a night or we were

HarrietsweetHarriet · 12/10/2024 20:14

I read that the moment Iman knew that Bowie was the one for her was when they were out walking, her shoelace came undone and Bowie immediately bent down to tie it for her.
I must admit I find old fashioned chivalry attractive as it's so rare these days.

SarahJane796 · 12/10/2024 20:27

The builder doing my loft conversion swing up onto the scaffolding ignoring the ladder. Wearing shorts, no top and massive work boots. This still gives me the flutters.

Thudercatsrule · 12/10/2024 21:01

Really....just cleaning up turns you on?

Givemethereins · 12/10/2024 21:28

RachPelders · 11/10/2024 20:11

Other than dh (who is a hands on, capable outdoorsy sort and often gives me the flutters), for me it's my GP and ds3's headteacher.

It's definitely a capability thing. They're both just so...in charge.

The headteacher especially. On my way out of the yard and hearing 'right guys, line up please!' and then seeing 100 little people do exactly what he said...oof. Made me want to say 'Yes sir!' and get in the line 😂

God yeah, male teachers can really make me go warm and gooey. My daughters yr 4 teacher was 6ft 5 and seemed to delight in any excuse to dress up in a very silly wig as Hagrid with a pillow stuffed up the tunic and then proceed to do line up and sign each kid as Hagrid pretrending they were all at Hogwarts.
Just my goodness, he so obviously enjoyed making the kid's laugh and didn't give a hoot that all us parents were standing right behind watching him be goofy for the kids.
Oh and he also did a dance-off with another tall male teacher at the school disco. Such lovely role models...

Brutalass · 12/10/2024 21:29

Oh my goodness 'competence porn!' I'm totally here for that!!

The young guy over the road seems to be so damn competent and friendly and polite and generous with his competence that I'm really quite taken aback.

Whenever he shows these qualities I'm utterly transfixed ... however, he's recently married, way too young for me, and absolutely NOT the sort of guy I'd ever give a second glance under normal circumstances ... but when I get home and he's cut back my hedges, put my bins out, or left a bottle of wine on my doorstep he's some sort of demi-god!

DuckyShincracker · 12/10/2024 22:02

My DP is a very strong, capable working man. He's attractive and friendly and is confident. He likes himself. I think I really fell in love with him stood in Dominoes in our home town when he rested his head on mine as he felt unwell. It was the mix of the strength and vulnerability that was irresistible.

butterfly0404 · 12/10/2024 22:25

I have a thing when men wear glasses pushed up on top of their head..be it sunglasses or normal glasses...it's just hot, I have no idea why I find it such a turn on ! My specs wearing DP does it when he needs to look close up at something, it drives me insane with lust 😅

Justrestingmyeyes1 · 12/10/2024 22:31

My DH when we first started dating. He was driving us somewhere when someone pulled out in front of him and he had to slam on the brakes. He threw his left arm across me to prevent me flying forward. I fell in love with him there and then.
Also, if we were walking anywhere he always walked on the side of the pavement nearest the road and would take my hand when crossing. 35 years later, he still holds my hand crossing the road.
He’s not a tall or muscly man but has always had the ability to make me feel safe.

TheNinny · 12/10/2024 22:48

I went to a garden centre for a specific tree I wasn’t sure they have. One of the outside staff came over to help me and was chatting all about trees and what was best for where i lived, and he had mentioned how he just loves trees, so he’d recently retrained from another job (as we were chatting realised i’d recognised him in his previous indoor office role so think it was true) to do what he was doing now. After that conversation I was totally attracted to him but it was due to how he seemed to happy and content to be discussing something he obviously loved and seemed really competent in 😆 Helped he was rugged, outdoorsy and decent looking as well but l hadn’t intended to even talk to anyone, just wanted to nip in and out without small talk 🤣😆 He helped me get a beautiful tree for me to take back to my fiance🤣

Oh god yes - competence is a very, very attractive quality. Unflappability also.

v much agree !

RoseTurtle · 12/10/2024 22:50

Tremaine on Gogglebox once mentioned that he irons his bedsheets. Phwoar.

Have you seen Steve, the clock man, on Repair Shop? He sometimes wears two pairs on his head 😎

Opthalmology Porn right there 😅

EndlessTreadmill · 12/10/2024 23:24

Builders who are quietly competent and can just fond a way to fix things with no fuss!
Have to admit it’s even sexier with an East European accent.
We had a kitchen extension done a few years ago by a team of Ukrainians, and the foreman would really make me swoon. Big burly bloke (burly blokes always make me feel sexier as I feel willowy and delicate standing next to them), would just listen to the problems I raised and just say a few words along the lines of ‘no problem’ and just FIX things!

Needhelp101 · 12/10/2024 23:42

Thank you, PPs, for introducing me to that Tom Holland LipSync Battle video!

TempestTost · 13/10/2024 00:12

Yes.

A guy at work, a client who was a regular there, I was chatting with him and I said it was my birthday, and he asked what my husband had got me. When I said, "Oh, dh forgot" he gasped and his mouth dropped open.

I had been a bit peeved and so it was extremely endearing.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/10/2024 00:34

Wore a suit. And was good at his job. <Swoon>

TheRomanticOutlaw · 13/10/2024 01:31

First date with DH. He asked me out during a work phone conversation we were having with each other, and suggested a local pub. On New Year's Eve. I assumed he would want to meet me inside, and being quite a shy person when I was young I wasn't very keen on walking into busy pubs on my own, but I didn't want him to know that.
So I asked him what time and where I should meet him, and then he said "oh, no,don't walk over on your own, I'll come to yours and walk over with you"
We were both very young, neither of us could drive and I knew that this meant a 40 minute walk out of his way instead of a 15 minute walk straight to the pub. I remember being very impressed, I thought it was VERY gentlemanly & chivalrous and I fell a little bit in love with him right then and there!
He also turned up in lovely jeans and a fairisle jumper ( I have also always had a thing about men in nice cuddly knitwear) and I'd only ever seen him in a shirt and tie before. I was smitten!
