Things someone has done that suddenly made you weirdly attracted to them

I got to work this morning and I have a bit of equipment that I use that I always struggle setting up.

I turned up a bit early and put it on the table ready to set up. A guy I work with who honestly I have never really even liked as a person and am DEFINITELY not remotely
physically attracted to, picked it up off the table while we were all chatting before our shift, and wordlessly constructed it for me.

For a minute I thought he thought it was his and was very confused, but he handed it to me once done.

I cannot stress how much I am not attracted to this man but it was weirdly hot.

Please share your versions of this so I know I’m not a complete weirdo!

He picked up an electric guitar and played something incredible for twenty seconds. Now I know why groupies get unhinged.

Totally with the competence porn.

But also passion for whatever they do!

I got collared by a man on a wildlife charity stall in a supermarket, touting for new members, i could so easily have just passed by. But he then spoke so passionately about what he was doing and why he was doing it, it really sparked my interest and we chatted for ages. I then signed up and when I left he asked if he could give me a kiss on the cheek. I massively crushed on him afterwards but never saw him again!

Lovely...

I mean... Experts... someone who is expert at something... and brings the enthusiasm...

A man who can dance and actively wants to dance with you… pulling you close, swings you round with his hand controls the movements . Enjoys the actual dance and movement.. with sleeves rolled up and eyes on you….get me a room

WhatterySquash · 11/10/2024 21:40

This was a long time ago but I went to an adults learning class and the teacher (who is never had any interest in) wore a jumper with sleeves that were too long. The way his sleeves went over half his hands like a 1990’s grunge heart throb totally did it for me.

I once chatted to a woman at a company do who told me she'd always had a massive crush on the CEO since she saw him hailing a taxi and his shirt sleeve stuck out slightly from under his jacket sleeve and it was impossibly hot

Sorry to lower the tone but I totally agree about that vibe of capability and calmly taking charge being hot, and you know who REALLY has loads of that - Captain Barnacles. When he says "Let's do this!" <swoon>

Very similar to what others have posted. I never fancied Tom Holland until I saw him on Lip Sync Battle (will try to paste the link, if I fail please google it!). The sheer EFFORT he’s obviously put in to the dancing is SO evident and I got butterflies watching him. He’s a fabulous dancer. Showed it to my partner and he understood the life lesson 😂 it’s not the dancing itself, it’s the effort!

😍 one of my most favourite videos.
As you say the effort, confidence, skill, pure enjoyment, nit concerned, made me love him soo much.

I can't hear the song without thinking of him!

I find it very attractive when somebody makes an effort to make conversation or just generally be friendly. So many people these days - I’m sure for various reasons - make no effort to create a nice atmosphere or to be welcoming or friendly to others that when people do it stands out.

That's the thing that attracted me the most about my DH when we met 😚 It's a sadly undervalued quality.

I love the quiet, calm and unapologetic confidence in a man 👌 Also yes: rolled up sleeves and nice forearms 🙌

You’ve summed it up so well! Time for another re-watch 🤣🧐🥵

Just doing the dishes without me noticing. Absolutely love it.

If only they knew 🤣 They’d stop posting photos of themselves on dating sites with massive fish they’ve caught and put pics of themselves wearing marigolds and taking the bins out 😁

But is catching a massive fish not a competence?

ehb102 · 11/10/2024 22:52

My husband picked up the book, took a quick look and wrote fluent computer code in the same way I write English. It was heaven to watch.

I picked up a friend's paper and he had done the Sudoku without making notes. I found that very attractive. Maybe because I couldn't do that.

Some of these should be novelised! 😁

He was driving his tractor behind the looney on the road that made my horse bolt. The ironic thing is he doesn’t like horses and has whined endlessly that “they churn up perfectly good fields” 😂😂. Funnily enough, they now have 4 fields, I still can’t work out if he loves his fields more than them.

Zuk · 11/10/2024 22:56

Oh another, someone speaking in a language other than their mother tongue really fluently. Preferably Italian, but I'll accept Spanish or French Grin

Would be if most freshwater fish didn't taste of mud.

BigAnne · 11/10/2024 22:59

@FancyAnxiety He played the lead role in Billy Elliot 2008/10. Brilliant dancer.

HalloweenPart10 · 11/10/2024 22:59

My DP drives an HGV… I could watch him drive aaalllllll day long! Hes just so good at it - and the weird thing is, he doesn’t realise that he’s so good at it!

He seems to find it easy, can reverse it on a sixpence, parks it perfectly etc, and all without any fuss… When I go with him, I just sit and watch him.

He hates DIY, gardening, all the usual house jobs, yet put him in a 44 ton wagon, and he’s happy.
I also get to watch his forearms flexing while he drives…😉

Chelsea26 · 11/10/2024 23:04

My DP is a solid, calm, capable, kind man and one of my favourite things is watching my friends develop little crushes on him. I think they all have one!

He’s not bad looking at all but he’s not immediately phwoar however after spending a little bit of time with him, he will do something kind and/or capable and I just watch them melt…

Cherryicesonice · 11/10/2024 20:51

It’s probably a bit narcissistic in a way, but I find it massively attractive when a man seems to a see a glimpse of who I think I am inside rather than the flustered chaotic mother person I present (and also am!).
A man who dares to scratch the surface , let’s say. It’s sexy to feel ‘seen’.

Fellow narcissist here, in that case!

WallaceinAnderland · 11/10/2024 23:10

Whenever my DH meets a dog when we're out and about he stops to greet it and says 'Hiya Woofa'. A daft joke, a gentleness and a kindness to animals. He's great with babies too and kids love him. He's happy to sit there with his great niece listening patiently to her chattering nonsense whilst she puts make up on him 😂

I think that's it. He always has time for others. Always gets me in the feels just watching him relaxed and engaging. Plus he's a great cook and general all round competence and thoughtfulness.

@Dramatic yes to the hi-vis, work trousers (tight ones with extra pockets/although grey joggers too!), and tattoos. It's a nightmare for me at work as I sort of work in construction so spend a lot of time on site surrounded by men like this 😬

Nah, too many examples of construction workers sexually harassing women walking past sites. A tool belt doesn't exactly make up for it (or maybe it does for some women, who knows).

Snickers drop the knickers!

*Snickers are a brand of workwear a lot of tradesmen wear with lots of pockets

🤣 never heard that one before but I love it! My DH with all his pockets and orange hi Vis 🥰

DH casually asking if I’d like to know what my SIPP was now worth. Vaguely aware he set one up for me when we married 23 years ago. I gave permission to the firm for him to manage the investments (DH an accountant). It’s a huge sum. He just did it. Hasn’t gone on about it over the years. Sexiest man alive.

What's SIPP? Google comes up with Survey of Income and Program Participation...?

Well mine specifically doesn't work anywhere near the public so he's exempt from that stereotype.

I don't live with DP. I bought something useful on FB marketplace a week ago. It is useful but it had been set up wrong. Last night I bought it into the lounge so I could fix it over the weekend. Told DP what was wrong with it, just in passing conversation. Tonight, I went to cook dinner. DP was sat on the sofa reading his book. When I came back into the lounge half an hour later DP was still sat on the sofa reading his book. But the thing in the lounge had been fixed. He didn't tell me he was going to fix it, didn't tell me he had fixed it, he'd just done it. I just smiled to myself and gave him all the best crispy potatoes when I served up. Love him.
