Slightly boring post

We’re all inside today, Dd not that well, fancy making something nice for dinner, not roast yet, did lasagna and Spag bol last week. Did want to start using my slow cooker, but too late now to make for dinner (have to get ingredients etc)
Any ideas for a nice dinner on Sunday, maybe something autumnal maybe?

casserole in the oven
i know it should be in the slow cooker but i dont trust them to get thick gravy

Doggymummar · 06/10/2024 12:10

I did a pork joint yesterday. So adding a beef sirloin to it with mash, cabbage and parsnips carrots etc. OH will do Yorkshire's gravy and pud.

Greentreesandbushes · 06/10/2024 12:11

I’m doing a Sunday roast, all the trimmings and some wine. I have a busy week ahead so will also do a chicken casserole for the next two days

Allywill · 06/10/2024 12:13

Lamb curry in slow cooker

Yourinmyspot · 06/10/2024 12:13

We are having sausages and I’m going to boil some potatoes then cut them up and fry them in the pan in a bit of oil and garlic and have some salad too. Bit of a naff dinner but can’t think of anything else.

TakeMe2Insanity · 06/10/2024 12:15

Spicy keema and rice for dinner.

TheWickerWoman · 06/10/2024 12:16

Got a beef brisket in the oven with carrots, onions & stock. Will have it later when DH and DS are back from football with broccoli and mashed swede.

Cheesy mash with steak in a crème fraise mushroom sauce

zeitweilig · 06/10/2024 12:22

We're having mince and tatties.
How about some nice roasted veggies and stuffed chicken breasts? Fruit crumble for dessert?

Mrsttcno1 · 06/10/2024 12:24

We’re having a Sunday dinner but if that’s not an option for you what about:

  • Toad in the hole
  • Pie with mash & veggies
  • Casserole
  • Mince & dumplings
Beezknees · 06/10/2024 12:24

I'm having salmon. As a small family of 2 I can never be arsed to do a full roast. Doesn't feel cold enough for hearty food yet, it's 19 degrees inside my flat.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 06/10/2024 12:24

DH does a roast every Sunday

He's doing chicken today with stuffing, pigs in blankets and other trimmings.

Ooooh dumplings....I might add some of those to my mince!

We are having home made pulled pork in brioche buns, with coleslaw, corn on the cob and salad/chips.

K0OLA1D · 06/10/2024 12:27

We're having leek and potato soup. It's all chopped and ready to go. With crusty tiger bread, in great amounts.

Thenoseyneighbourisout · 06/10/2024 12:27

Ooh I’m thinking maybe chicken & mushroom pie and mash could be an option 🤔 maybe crumble for afterwards

We're doing sausages and mash tonight, with onion gravy, maple roasted carrots, broccoli and peas. It's cold and rainy where we are so this suits the weather.

SoberSchmober · 06/10/2024 12:27

No idea but following for inspiration

If it were up to me I think I'd do something along the lines of a curry/tagine/stroganoff/casserole, but one of my kids hates anything saucy like that. He does love a roast dinner though, so we may end up with that, but then the other one hates roasts 🤪🫠

VestaTilley · 06/10/2024 12:30

DH has got braised lamb shanks in the slow cooker. We’ll have this probably with mash and vegetables.

Lunch is at church today for Harvest Festival.

CirceSong24 · 06/10/2024 12:30

I’m making coconut miso salmon curry with spinach and mangetout- not really Sunday comfort food but the 3 year old likes it!

TheFoz · 06/10/2024 12:31

I have a chicken casserole in the oven. Started making it a few weeks ago and it’s become a firm favourite with everyone. Except the toddler, so I’m going to blend some for him and pour it over his mash. He’s a disaster for eating veg.

Chocolatelabradorsarethebest · 06/10/2024 12:31

My DH is currently making a cottage pie and we’ll (well he will!) then cook it in the oven later to crisp up along with some peas. Nice and simple and it’s miserable here today so will be a nice hearty warming meal!

SallyWD · 06/10/2024 12:33

I'm doing a recipe from the Round The World Roasting Tin book. It's pasta with brocoli, Spinach, creme fraiche and partisan, topped with salmon. It's very nice.

Snackpocket · 06/10/2024 12:38

A Gousto recipe potato topped chicken pie. It’s chicken, onions and carrots in a creamy sauce with mash topping. Definitely will hit the spot for an autumn dish.
