What are you making for dinner?

Slightly boring post

We’re all inside today, Dd not that well, fancy making something nice for dinner, not roast yet, did lasagna and Spag bol last week. Did want to start using my slow cooker, but too late now to make for dinner (have to get ingredients etc)
Any ideas for a nice dinner on Sunday, maybe something autumnal maybe?

OP posts:

I’ve made a big pan of Chicken cacciatore . Going to have it with roast herby potatoes. Maybe broccoli if it’s still fresh enough. I might make Mary Berry’s brownies afterwards to have watching tv with the teens this evening (if I have all the ingredients)

I'm going to be making Marry Me Chicken for the first time 😁

Every time DP works nights (every 10 weeks or so) he goes to Smithfields and picks up masses of chicken breasts and beef mince so I like to try new recipes with them.

Butter chicken from the Mowgli cook. Made it before midday for later, adding in the butter on the reheat

It won’t help you OP as it’s too late in the day and you have already done this meal this week, but I am doing a big homemade lasagne that will hopefully provide some leftovers for lunch. It’s a nice recipe and takes time to prepare that is repaid in the eating. Served with a green salad and French dressing and croutons which are in fact tiny cubes of roast potato (thank you Nigella Lawson) and a tomato and mozzarella salad dressed with balsamic vinegar.

I have also made a blackberry and apple pie for pudding with clotted cream or custard. Plus a chocolate brownie as DS doesn’t like fruit pie (even though he loves fruit), which will be eaten through the week.

We are going to have some wine too. Will be serving it at 6.30pm. Looking forward to it. Though spent longer making it all than I had planned and am now behind on other things.

Lemon garlic chicken in flatbreads with feta yoghurt sauce. And possibly some sort of courgette salady thing if I can work out a good plan!

I'm doing a recipe from the Round The World Roasting Tin book. It's pasta with brocoli, Spinach, creme fraiche and partisan, topped with salmon. It's very nice.

Can you please link this recipe?

I’ve got some fresh tortellini to cook with a tomato sauce and garlic bread.. something super quick after I pick ds up from the bus station when he finishes work.. I do feel it is definitely getting to slow cooker season though if anyone has any good suggestions for recipes to try?

PassingStranger · 06/10/2024 19:05

It's in a book. I've taken a photo of the recipe. Sorry, I really couldn't get a better image. Hope you can see this.

Salmon and goji berry curry, with cranberries instead of goji berries.

I’m doing the six pack revolution thing so have to follow strict recipes.

orangelotus · 06/10/2024 19:25

That's great Thankyou. Always looking fir ways to cook salmon

Sibilantseamstress · 06/10/2024 19:29

Shrimp linguine.

burblish · 06/10/2024 19:33

I made chhola (chickpea curry) with garlic naan, but am now regretting reading this thread as it is making me wish I had also made apple and pear crumble!

GoForARun · 06/10/2024 19:40

I made chicken, leek and carrot casserole with mash and sugar snaps.

Roasted plums for pudding with Greek yoghurt.

Thank you!

We had grass-fed Dartmoor beef, roasted till pink in the middle. Mash, vegetables, with my superb gravy (ability inherited!)

Hmm good to know it was grass fed and that the gravy was superb.

TheChippendenSpook · 06/10/2024 21:37

I had pizza, chips and beans today. The chips and pizza were frozen and the beans were Heinz. It was very nice!
