Inspired by the other thread (which wouldn't you visit again), if you could only choose one country to visit again which one and why?

Having asked I'm struggling to answer myself! I think probably Italy for the food and history but part of me wants to say Tibet because it's so stunning and culturally interesting.

Ooh one is too hard!!!

Ok Spain.

It's between Italy, Spain and South Africa for me, and I would put Spain first - easy to get to, safe, amazing food, very friendly locals. Madrid is probably the city I visited I loved best, ex aequo with Rome and Cape Town. And it's a big country with lots of different corners to visit!

Switzerland without a doubt, it’s so clean, everything works, there’s such a unique blend between modern technology and stunning nature. They just seem to have all the right ideas in my opinion!

Dream2762 · 15/09/2024 22:34

The Faroe Islands are amazing. I only visited once but will definitely return.

Easy to get to from the UK yet hardly anyone goes there. The place is absolutely stunning.

fluffyfurryfeatherythings · 15/09/2024 22:34

India.
It's another dimension

Gulbekian · 15/09/2024 22:38

The Seychelles. Stunningly beautiful and lovely people.

EngineEngineNumber9 · 15/09/2024 22:40

Malaysia. I lived in that part of the world as a child and I haven’t been back in over thirty years. Would love to go back and appreciate it as an adult. Particularly Kota Kinabalu.

Costa Rica. Amazing wildlife, amazing experiences, intelligent and professional approach to tourism. Loved every minute.

Agree! Spent 2wks there & did central/pacific coast, but would love to do the Caribbean coast (& would have to return to the cloud forest)

bumblefeline · 15/09/2024 22:41

USA I am trying to see as many states as possible. Currently done 14 each one has been so unique in it's own way. Just back from Tennesse and the Smoky mountains, third time there and will never tire of it ever.

AegonT · 15/09/2024 22:42

USA, has it's issues but I just love it.

RosannaSpider · 15/09/2024 23:02

I hate flights longer than 5hours but I would return to Mauritius

whiteroseredrose · 16/09/2024 05:59

If it wasn't for the guns and tipping culture I'd have said the USA. I've been a few times over the years and there are other places I'd still like to see like Yellowstone and the Badlands, but the politics and human side put me off going again.

I'd probably pick Germany. We went to Berlin and Dresden a few years ago and went to Baden Baden and Wiesbaden for meetings. It is so pretty and varied. There are lots of other places I'd like to see like Munich / Nuremberg and the northern coast so Germany it is.

garlictwist · 16/09/2024 06:04

Maybe boring but Spain. I love how hot it gets and the sky is bluer than I have ever seen anywhere else.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 16/09/2024 06:09

Ok, here is a shocker for everyone.

The UK, specifically London.

I’m English, I live overseas. I lived in London in my twenties and OMG I miss it!

I have no reason to go back as I have no family there any more.

I miss the food, the junk food, the theatre, the world class museums, the ease of access to those experiences, the great transport system (even though I lived there when Bob Crow was arranging strike after strike - still better than anywhere else). I miss the seasons, I miss the evening standard (when there were 3+ editions a day), I miss the pubs, I miss going out so easily after work, I miss everything being green.

I could go on but probably shouldn’t.

Edited to add - I’m several long flights away so I won’t be visiting any time soon but I want to and I plan to. As lovely as where I am is, I miss London and while I loved it while I was there, I think I appreciate it even more now,

25soexcited · 16/09/2024 06:22

Canada. Vancouver and Vancouver Island I would return to in a heartbeat. Mountains ,City,Beach amazing scenery and wildlife. Locals friendly and very clean and spacious.

Lentilweaver · 16/09/2024 06:24

Egypt. Contrary to usual MN opinion. Loved it. Incredible sights

Takoneko · 16/09/2024 06:33

Japan.

Theres so much to see and do and I feel like you could go back again and again and have a different experience each time.

It has four distinct seasons and has big modern cities, tiny rural villages, beautiful landscapes and nature, ski resorts in the mountains, ice sculpture festivals in Hokkaido, tropical beaches down in Okinawa…

I think you can return many times without repeating yourself too much.

Bulkypeepants · 16/09/2024 06:40

Sri Lanka. Had the best food out of all the countries I've been too.

OneTitWonder · 16/09/2024 06:41

Italy, definitely. The food, the history, the landscape.

Beezknees · 16/09/2024 06:42

There's a few countries that I've been to that I'd like to explore more of. Italy and Thailand off the top of my head. Only visited Rome in Italy.

SeaEssence · 16/09/2024 06:55

Oh lots, eps places where I had a taster but could spend weeks:
Philippines. So many islands to explore, absolutely stunning.
USA - been to various cities, want to see the national parks
Italy
Malaysia, I fell in love with Kuala Lumpur

Craftycorvid · 16/09/2024 07:18

@Sameshitdifferentdayx The Cornish would disagree that they are not a separate country - and they do have their own language to prove it. 🙂

SilverPuffin · 16/09/2024 07:21

Iceland, only been twice but I love it and have so much more I want to do/see I could do multiple additional trips (and will one day)

tinofbeans · 16/09/2024 07:24

Japan - we loved it and can't wait to return. So different to the west in so many ways, but absolutely brilliant

SpanThatWorld · 16/09/2024 07:28

Argentina

Went a couple of years ago and barely scraped the surface

Puddypuds · 16/09/2024 07:32

Iceland in a heartbeat
