Inspired by the other thread (which wouldn't you visit again), if you could only choose one country to visit again which one and why?

Having asked I'm struggling to answer myself! I think probably Italy for the food and history but part of me wants to say Tibet because it's so stunning and culturally interesting.

I said I want to go back to Egypt and on other list most women have been molested😞

Jaxhog · 16/09/2024 21:22

Antarctica and islands. But I'm obsessed with penguins!

Amicompletelyinsane · 16/09/2024 21:27

Australia
Did Sydney to Melbourne, driving, exploring the less tourist areas. I'd love to explore another part of the country

Germany has my heart. Loved it from the first time I visited and it's felt like home every time since. Hopefully one day it will actually be home 🤞

I loved it, too - from my first visit as a teenager! I'm a real Germanophile.

Another vote for Italia. I just love it and have been so many times, to lots of different regions. I love the food, the people, the architecture, the culture, the language, the romance. We are actually in Italy now 🇮🇹🤣

Yay, another one - see you there then 😆
I was young too, visited first as a 12 year old, then from 13 was on the German exchange programme. Then a fair few times for work/leisure since. Happy memories!

Maireas · 16/09/2024 21:47

I was an exchange programme - I'd never been further than Blackpool before. It was wonderful.

China. Been 4 times and we had our best holidays there. Also loved Norway and would go back.

Another vote for Singapore

elQuintoConyo · 16/09/2024 21:53

Italy here, too. The moment I hear Italian all around me, I feel like I'm home.

I live in Spain, there's so much to see within 50 miles of my town it's unreal: wine country, mountains, beach, hermitages, wild walks to swimming spots and waterfalls, castles, medieval villages, rich history... I love it all.

GrumpyInsomniac · 16/09/2024 21:53

Japan. Went there on business for a few days and would love to go there for a proper visit with DH and DS. There is so much I haven’t seen and I can also speak Japanese now, whereas I couldn’t before.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 16/09/2024 21:57

Difficult, as I’ve loved most places I’ve visited, but if I had to choose one, then probably Canada, as it was stunningly beautiful (Vancouver and the Rockies). Would love to take my kids.

Just visited Italy again and it was great fun showing the DC.

This one surprises me. Not because Singapore doesn’t look wonderful but just because it’s so tiny. If that was the only place you holidayed for the rest of your life wouldn’t you run out of things to do quite quickly?

The most common answers here seem to be fairly big countries with pretty diverse landscapes and weather (Canada, Italy, US, Japan etc). For people to chose one little urbanised area that has similar weather year round is fascinating. It must be an awesome place to visit as a few have picked it.

What was it that you loved about Singapore so much that you’d go back to the same little city over and over?

I love France. It's so diverse and if you can speak French (which I can), most people are bloody lovely. I can live without Paris, but a small French town where you can buy fresh bread and get a coffee, perfect!

I loved Canada too and would love to go back.

Agree. Love it so much, beautiful, clean, lots of space and the people are always so polite and patient with the decades-old French that we manage to come out with!

One which didn't require me to fly trying to get there. Not impossible though; a family I know through acquaintance made it as far as Indonesia overland.

Ilovelurchers · 17/09/2024 06:48

Does my current country count as UK or just England? If the latter, I would choose Wales definitely, as I go on holiday there several times a year and possibly aspire to move there one day.

If Wales was included in UK, I would say Georgia - it was stunning and the people were lovely. I wouldn't go very often tho - I believe flying should be kept to an absolute minimum.

Cappuccinowithonesugarplease · 17/09/2024 06:48

Really liked Guernsey, went when I was 16 with the parents and always wanted to go back

Maireas · 17/09/2024 06:57

@Ilovelurchers - is that Georgia in the USA, or the former Soviet Republic?

Andoutcomethewolves · 17/09/2024 07:09

Probably India - it's just so vast and the different regions are so very different from each other! I'd love to do either Kerala/the South or somewhere in the very North.

saraclara · 17/09/2024 07:19

Iran. Wonderful people, amazing architecture and scenery. But now is not the time. I'm glad I went when I did.

bluebellsInWinter · 17/09/2024 07:22

@Mandarinaduck could you tell me more about what there was to do in Slovenia please?

ChristmasFluff · 17/09/2024 08:43

Torn between Denmark and Scotland. I love the scenery and history of both.
