Sara Cox please just stop!!!

I've heard her put on a weird voice and repeatedly say, 20+ times, Scooby Dooby Doo in said weird voice. Turned off and 10 minutes later went into a shop that had Radio 2 on and she was still doing it. FFS she's paid a fortune for that nonsense and we're paying through the licence fee.

I'm equally critical of men who gurgle and blabber on in baby voices. Not just Cox

So you can start a thread to talk about how annoying someone is yet I'm 'nastier' for saying it's a shitty thing to do. Okay...

We have radio 2 on at work when I work in the afternoons - catch the end of Jeremy VIne ranting about whatever, then Scott Mills who is bland but inoffensive, then Sara Cox at 4 makes me reach for the off switch. I'm not sure what it is about her which drives me nuts, she seems to have the idea that her "i'm mad, me" persona is funny and entertaining and it's just not.

I don't mind her so much on the telly, perhaps she's more constrained by the autocue.

Not heard her for 20 years but always disliked her, she has/had a terrible habit at the end of sentences of making a weird inhaling/sucking noise….sometimes mid sentences…like she was short of breath.

I like Vernon Kay and think he's really good, but his high pitched laughing and this drive me nuts!

The absolute worst thing about this show id the am dram voicenotes from people who are in some performance in a local theatre in Rhyl or somewhere. Especially the ones who do the whole voicenote in the fake American accent because they are playing someone from Guys and Dolls!

I don't think she hides that though? I don't listen religiously but even I know her family lived in the country, and she had and has horses. I think people think because she has a northern accent she has to have had a family down the mines with a whippet on a string.

I have to be honest here. I have always preferred a man's voice on the radio. On the flip side, I prefer women's singing voices. I wonder if men find the female DJ's as irritating?

I've no preference, I just want whoever it is to be entertaining.

Yes I was just about to comment I think the sunshiiine thing is Oasis. Agree @RaraRachael it’s annoying!

I was like you until I started listening to Absolute Radio.

They have some excellent female djs- Clare Sturgess, Danielle Perry and Sarah Champion.

I used to like Sara Cox's radio show but unfortunately she has morphed into I'm-mad-me Liza Tarbuck, with the constant stupid voices. It is excruciating.
Still like her on her book programme though, where she talks perfectly normally.

I was reading a book this morning where one of the characters "cackled" and that reminded me of Liza Tarbuck and Elaine Paige who both do this. (Searched for Liza Tarbuck and found a thread about Sara Cox - I do agree with the OP on this too).

@Seasmoke I’ve got a midlands/northern accent still after being away 30 years and live in Bath - and yep the idea that we might come from
middle class families seems anathema to the very posh - as someone said to me ‘yep but you sound like an educated northerner’

Agreed from one Frisco to another @DiscoinFrisco. I actually love her show as do most of my friends of similar age (mid 40’s).

I am the OP of this and I'd forgotten about it, just saw it in "I'm on". I remember the show in question. I wasn't talking about her accent. It was repetitive silly waffle from memory.

I love Sara Cox!

And now "zo bird" has spoiled Saturday afternoon listening
