AIBU to think the amount of sleepovers expected these days is a bit much?
how many sleepovers (at your home) will your 8-12 year girls have this summer holiday?

just wondering if the amount we do is ‘average’ now?

At least 1-2 week. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

BendingSpoons · 05/08/2024 20:15

I have an 8yo and thankfully she hasn't been invited to a sleepover yet so I don't have to return the favour! (She will stay 1 night at grandparents for fun). Some of the children in her class have them, often for parties.

He brought a friend on holiday with us for 10 days, and we are taking him and 2 other friends away for a night- I’m counting these as sleepovers since they share a room, stay up late, have snacks etc every night- so 11 there!

Then having 3 friends to sleep over one night next week.

He is 10 and I’m hoping that will be it for these holidays.

Namechangenoooo · 05/08/2024 20:27

My children had regular sleepovers probably weekly over summer holidays. It never really bothered me .

BeardieWeirdie · 05/08/2024 20:35

None (age 9)

Ryeman · 05/08/2024 20:36

None. Maybe it’s different because I have boys?

Tisfortired · 05/08/2024 20:37

I have a ten year old DS and none - I think he’s had one sleepover at a friends a couple of years ago for said friends birthday. I’m not against it it just hasn’t come up in his friendship group.

ExtrovertedIntrovert1 · 05/08/2024 20:41

None, she hates sleepovers

HollyBollyBooBoo · 05/08/2024 20:41

None, DD hates them

puppychase · 05/08/2024 20:42

Weekly

Sobersally · 05/08/2024 20:45

Not sure if it’s different for boys/girls but my DS 10 hasn’t had any yet in his friendship group

Gymmum82 · 05/08/2024 20:46

At our house hopefully just 1. I absolutely despise sleepovers but the kids love them. They have already been on one each so far It’s not something I will ever encourage. I find them so utterly draining. I need my evenings to relax and not parent

IWishIWasABaller · 05/08/2024 20:48

None , it's not really the done thing here until they are 13 years and older

Dinosweetpea · 05/08/2024 20:54

She's had 4 I think (DD 9)

Sunshineafterthehail · 05/08/2024 20:57

Never done sleepovers until secondary school here... No dc have ever minded the rule...

coxesorangepippin · 05/08/2024 21:01

None

Sleepovers only with family

FourForYouGlenCoco1 · 05/08/2024 21:05

My daughter (10) has had 1-2 per week on average; she and her friends love them.

DS (9) more like once a week. The boys are MUCH harder work to look after I find.

macaroniandcheeze · 05/08/2024 21:05

Probably 2 or 3, at least one here and one at her best friend’s (whose parents are our close friends). She’s 11. Youngest is 8, hasn’t had any yet as too young and not as close to her friend’s parents.

Londonrach1 · 05/08/2024 21:06

Aged 8.... 0. Don't know any that do yet.

2ndMrsdeWinter · 05/08/2024 21:06

About 3 a week (average of 2 at ours and 1elsewhere). I work TTO and love having her friends. It’s nice to be able to help out their parents, who struggle with childcare in the holiday, whilst also making dd happy.

TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyArsehole · 05/08/2024 21:07

0 can't stand sleep overs. No one sleeps everyone gets stupid I get stressed no fun at all.

MimiSunshine · 05/08/2024 21:07

zero

Babbahabba · 05/08/2024 21:07

My 8 year old has never had a sleepover. I don't quite know why as my elder DS had loads. Don't know if it's a mix of early years Covid, her personality etc.

LuckysDadsHat · 05/08/2024 21:08

Not quite 8 but no sleepover yet (other than at grandparents). She wants to do some, but no way is she ready for them yet. It took years to get her to stay with her Nanna!

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 05/08/2024 21:08

zero lol. Hate the things and won’t entertain them.
