To like Katie Price

I know this is going to be unpopular but I am reading Katie Price’s latest book and I can’t help but feel the trauma she faced as a child has led to the terrible decisions she has made as an adult.

I am not condoning her behaviour but I have to admit I still have a soft spot for Katie, especially seeing how much she loves and advocates for Harvey.

Yabu. At some point she needs to start taking some responsibility for her life. There's always an excuse with her

MulberryMoon · 01/08/2024 00:03

What was the trauma she experienced as a child?

Kinneddar · 01/08/2024 00:34

Sorry but no.

That's no excuse for drink driving, drinking while disqualified, stalking another woman, breaking restraining orders, going bankrupt numerous times and the list goes on.

She might be good with Harvey but it says a lot that her other children all live predominantly with their fathers

I hope the police are waiting when she steps off the plane from her latest holiday & transport her straight to jail

This

Cookiecrumblane · 01/08/2024 01:00

She's just incapable of change and self reflection. If you had a friend who just kept making the same choices over and over again, you would get worn out and distance yourself. She has/ had money; there was really no excuse for her to get some help for her emotional intensity.

Hasbean2 · 01/08/2024 01:07

Used to like her but struggled with the constant ivf pushing when it clearly wasn't right

It's the neglect and deaths of so many of her animals that totally put me off. So many animals have died unser her lack of care and had horrible deaths/ been rehomed. How she is still getting animals and not prosecuted is beyond me

Also don't understand why people were so angry about ant mcpartlin drink driving when she's got a sheet a mile long of driving bans yet has been caught driving several times and causing actual crashes

I live local to her and the road is a death trap. Her pets getting out repetitively and dying on the road is inexcusable as is drink driving and driving while disqualified

petermaddog · 01/08/2024 01:14

she is awful and no sympathy as her tits get bigger

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/08/2024 01:17

I have sympathy for her because she's clearly a deeply unhappy, unhealthy person and that comes from somewhere.

However, she is the source of trauma for others and the system has to address that. You can feel sympathy at the same time as understanding that actions have consequences. She shouldn't be robbed of her rock bottom.

Margo2023 · 01/08/2024 01:23

What's the story with the animal abuse?

Hasbean2 · 01/08/2024 01:38

She's had multiple dogs and a horse die by escaping her property and getting hit on the road (4 or 5 if I remember correctly). Some within months of each other and another dog who was constantly found on the road and later rehomed
She had a Frenchie that got crushed in a chair, bought another one and rehomed that less than a year later
other animals have been sold (she was advertising her sphinx cats when I gave up)

She was also roughly treating her dog in videos and there were elements of poor care eg a chameleon died and she said it died of a broken heart when her kids moved out but there was suspicion that she didn't have heating properly for it, and animals that she had but then never mentioned again which felt odd

There were lots of petitions when she around after the 6th/7th dog death

I've never read any of her books but I too quite like and have a soft spot for her.

Contempt of court.

Lampslights · 01/08/2024 08:49

I feel sorry for her, clearly she has significant mental health problems. But I feel more sorry for her children, no matter how much she loves them, they are having a chaotic and traumatic childhood, and for the animals she keeps which is horrific.

I don’t think it’s about like or dislike.

fatphalange · 01/08/2024 08:55

The obligatory 'she's great with Harvey' made me laugh!

This. I feel some pity for her. For whatever combination of luck and savvy marketing, she had success and money, and she's lost it all because of her deep unhappiness. That doesn't mean I think she should be protected from the consequences of her actions. At some point adults have to take responsibility for making changes and not perpetrating more damage on the next generation and on innocent bystanders.

usernother · 01/08/2024 09:10

From what I've read her childhood trauma is different depending on who she's talking to about it.

You can like or respect somebody while disliking certain behaviours, I respect Jeremy Corbyn even though I strongly disagree with some of his views, and I liked Rishi Sunak even though I didn’t respect him as a PM - just thought he seemed a funny, likeable kind of guy.

Flumpie59 · 01/08/2024 09:16

Exactly. I'm no Ant McP fan but he's apologized for his behaviour, is genuinely sorry for what he did and is trying to improve his life, very well done to him.

What he did was absolutely nothing compared to the never-ending rap sheet on slaggy Price.

Whoa. That’s ugly behaviour. Why would you write that.

Well said. He did something really stupid, but paid a huge fine and learnt from it, he hasn't drank alcohol since. Kp is on another level.

See I'm the same, she's done some really bad things and has a rap sheet for a lot of things but I do too feel for her, when you aren't ok (mentally) it does affect your personality and life and what decisions you make, you don't think straight and don't see the consequences of your actions before hand, I don't agree with the boobs though they're just way too big I don't get why she would want such big boobs surely that does her back in but one thing I don't understand is that she's going bankrupt all the time but goes on holidays all the time, has all this surgery etc but yeah 🤷🏼‍♀️
